Dominion: Nocturne Previews / Re: Bonus Preview $5: Necromancer

Necromancer + Death Cart is good, as you'd expect I guess.

I played a few games with Cursed Village and Skulk today where I was able to consistently play 3-4 Skulks per turn. I might rather have had 4 Monuments but unlike all the other $4 attacks it continues to hurt with repeated plays and doesn't stop when the curses run out.

Overall I don't know if I'm going to come around to the swinginess of the Hexes, especially since it seems that you could get a major benefit by tracking the deck for Leprechaun and Cursed Village. I have a hard enough time tracking my own deck, y'know?

Now you can gain a curse and a hex with one card!

I wonder how long it'll take someone to need to Wish for a Curse.

Contest: How can you gain multiple wishes in a single turn?

I've only come up with Bonfire/Villa so far. Any others?

Storyteller + Mandarin on-gain, Urchin.

Salvager + Dominate

Dominate can be difficult to achieve if there isn't a decent engine available, but salvaging Provinces to Dominate is possible even in a money deck, in which case keeping the VP virtual is even more valuable. With the addition of some stronger trashing a golden deck that earns 9 VP/turn should be fairly easy to set up.

Engine means a deck that uses "Gear," "Mill," or "Catapult".

I don't think Bob can win or draw in this scenario if Alice buys gold T1 and T2 and then 3 Provinces. At that point Alice is certain that the game will end on her turn unless Bob is willing to lose the Province split 6-2, and if she ties the Provinces 4-4 she has enough economy to buy 3 Duchies with her Province T4 (vs. the 4 Provinces and 1 Duchy Bob can have at the end of T3).

Ruined Outpost
$0 Action-Ruins

If this is the first time you played a Ruined Outpost this turn, and the previous turn wasn't yours, then take a turn after each other player has taken one.

Possessed Witch
$5P Action

The player to your left takes an extra turn after this one, in which you can see all cards he can and make all decisions for him. Any cards of his that are trashed are set aside and returned to his discard pile at end of turn.

Death Cart + City Quarter + Travelling Fair
Death Cart plus either of the other two is probably pretty good, but guaranteeing a hand of DC + Ruin + CQ is even better. Unfortunately my opponent chose to play Transmute-only so I couldn't be sure of how strong it was outside of a vacuum.

My guess is that boons and hexes are simply card names, just like spoils. Fate and doom cards are probably card types, like the looters.

I was thinking that Fate and Doom might be card-shaped object types instead -- maybe they're like Landmarks, but give out something good/bad based on some condition.

I Inherited Treasure Maps, then thought I could fix the problem by buying a few real ones and trashing one with an Estate.

I mean, if it's the only way to trash Estates, maybe it's worth it

True, if I had cut my losses and trashed the Estates the game would probably still have been competitive. In fairness I can't think of another situation where Treasure Map saying "if you trashed two Treasure Maps" rather than "if you did" matters in gameplay terms.

Notable Brigand

When you buy or play this, the arbiter presses the "Random article" button on Wikipedia and reads the title of the selected article aloud. Each player attempts to describe the subject of the article. If any other player is judged to be incorrect, they reveal the top 2 cards of their deck, trash a revealed Silver or Gold you choose, discard the rest, and gain a Copper if they didn't reveal a Treasure. If you are judged to be correct, gain the trashed cards.
Setup: Select a neutral party to act as an arbiter.

Devil's Auction

-3 VP
All other players participate in an auction, bidding whole numbers
The "winner" reduces their total VP by the number they bid by some combination of gaining Curses and trashing VP from their hand/deck/discard/mats/tokens
If the "winner" is unable to do this they trash their entire hand, deck, discard, mats, and tokens
The "losers" of the auction reveal their hand and pass all Treasure cards revealed to your hand
If no one bids all other players are "losers"

Dynastic Succession
Action - $3
Total the cost of your hand
Return your hand to the Supply
Gain cards of non-zero cost into your hand whose total cost is less than or equal to half of the cost of the hand you returned, rounded down

Pyrrhic Victory
