Has anybody filled out their brackets?

The ruins pile out quickly, and often people forget they are a pile  :).

Is this going to be a Pirates of The Caribbean moment where everyone votes for themselves?

Absolutely

Yes, I just realized it should be brackets. I'll keep the poll up though. For the brackets, I'll just match up the last posted kingdom with the first posted kingdom and so on.

f.ds meme theme vs Kingdom Builder
Roadrunner's unnamed kingdom vs In the Woods
Pauper's Kingdom vs Dominion: Cities and Knights
A Day At The Zoo vs Going Dutch
Colloseum  vs Setbacks and strategery
Do. T. vs On to Victory
Rule Questions vs Dialing for Dollars
Jade Empire vs You can Bank on it
Chess vs Hogwarts

Fall of Rome will get a bye. If I forgot any, let me know.

Okay, the first round of voting has begun. It will remain open until the end of the month.

Thanks for the advice guys. Yeah, I might drop Advisor and maybe put in a mid-level trasher.

Played wishing well 18 times.
Guessed correctly 15 times.
No scout, apothecary or any other deck examination involved, just sheer luck.
One of the incorrect guesses was when I guessed a card not in my deck because I wanted to leave the top card for my next hand.

One of these days we should see an article specifically about how do use "name a card". I find those to be really cool, and I feel like they are more strategic than they are given credit for.

Hello everyone, this is the start of a weekly series were I will show kingdoms I have created and we can discuss them. (Plus hopefully some of you will enjoy playing them). One of my favorite parts of Dominion is creating kingdoms with multiple, sometimes subtle, strategies. So without further ado, here is the first kingdom.

Cities and Knights

Advisor
City
Cultist
Fairgrounds
Inn
Jester
Knights
Magpie
Menagerie
Stonemason

1. What do you think are the main strategies to win. Which is the best?
2. Any redundant cards, traps, or ways to make the kingdom better?

I have created this kingdom and played it IRL probably 20 times, but I'm sure you guys will be able to find something new which I didn't notice.

Okay everyone, this round will close in a few hours. I will then create a poll were we can vote for all the first round contestants. If anyone wants to submit any last minute kingdoms, now is the time.

My favorite is when I play 6 villages, just assume I have enough actions, but then play so many terminals I may be running out. Then I need to re-count everything.

Introductions / Re: Hello is this thing on?
« on: June 23, 2016, 12:34:31 pm »
Given that this is my 500th post on these forums I thought I'd introduce myself.

I am 30 years old, went to college for 9 years but never finished, and currently do technical writing for a software company. I have been playing strategic board/card games for about 10 years. Some non-Dominion favorites are Agricola, Tichu, and Scrabble. My Dominion story is thus:

I first played with some friends in college in 2008. Base only because that was all there was. We all thought Bureaucrat was way overpowered. Silver for free, immediately topdeck it, and an attack? Unfair. I only played a few games then. Fast-forward to 2011 and I played once more with a local gaming group; thence I discovered isotropic. Isotropic was the bomb. You could see your entire hand at once and stuff and it was so fast. I found this forum in late 2012 (via the dominionstrategy blog) but never posted until mid-2015.

I also like video games, anime, and manga. Some favorites are Cowboy Bebop, Dennou Coil, and Puella Magi Madoka Magica. I'm a fan of symphonic metal and synthpop music.

I am also a new homeowner, which is both great and stressful.

Welcome to the forums!

This extension makes it easier to reference cards while browsing the forum here, the card names turn into links that you can even hover over to see the card - http://forum.dominionstrategy.com/index.php?topic=13363.0

I spend many of my early Dominion days browsing this. Huge help. Yes, you do need to actually use a card to truly understand it, but knowing what it does is often enough to understand what someone means by mentioning it.

Telling players to follow the rules does not make your a "rules Nazi". It makes you a competent teacher of the game. Rules are there for a reason.

Exactly.

Very good article! I totally agree with what you said. At first, you seem like a rule Nazi (I know how it feels), but it is super important. Another you didn't mention is people shuffling their discard pile when they do not have a deck but before they actually need to draw cards. It matters if you get cursed or hit with a handsize decreaser.

If beginners start learning bad habits that seems like little "who cares" stuff, as the game gains in complexity, they are going to run into trouble.

Code: [Select]
Trade, Haven, Pearl Diver, Ratcatcher, Raze, Ambassador, Develop, Advisor, Feodum, Messenger, Adventurer
I love this game, because I got to use Adventurer. I don't know whether I played 'optimally' or not, but given the circumstance I was in, I like the Adventurer I got, since I could quite handily hit Province with it almost all the time towards the endgame.

Interesting. I would have thought Advisor/Messenger would be the best.

I'm a huge soccer fan. I hope Poland wins (since I'm from there) but I doubt it, especially with Lewandowski's recent form. I think France will win.

I haven't played any of the games, but I watched all the Game Theories about it. Does that count?

No. This thread is only for real FNAF fans. Get out!  :)

Hey, were did everyone go?  :(

974
Counting house combos with Warehouse (obviously). Another nice one is Artficer. Close to a re-shuffle, you discard everything to gain a Counting House, buy a copper with you $1 from Artificer, and then next turn play the counting house.
