I'm always bewildered by the number of guests online. Right now, it say there's 23 members and 37 guests, which seems awfully high to me. Are there really that many guests?

Also I wouldn't be surprised if the number of lurkers exceeded the number of active users. That is pretty normal online right?

I was a lurker for quite some time before I registered.
Same here! I actually only got an account to use the unread posts feature. Then I started to vote in brackets and polls, and now I'm a active memeber.

I wonder if this card would be to over-powered if it discarded 5 cards.

Let me chime in with some optomism.

The minute I found this set on BGG I was determined to get it. I preordered it even before the previews were released, and I nave no reason to regret that purchase.  All the previews look great, and I especially enjoyed enchatress!

As a resoponse to all the complaints, hold back judgement for crying out loud. Saying you don't like the idea of a card, the art, or saying you are confused is fine. But It's way to early to say that you won't want to buy the set. Wait a few weeks, and see the rest of the cards. Saying a set is stupid BEFORE you have even seen all the contents of it is unfair.

I think Crown would be more complicated as a reaction.
How about "Immediately after resolving an Action or Treasure you may discard this from your hand. If you do, play that Action or Treasure again."?

That's not the same card - it behaves differently in several respects - but it's similar and  doesn't feel complicated to me.

"At the start of your buy phase, you may discard this. If you do, you may play a Treasure card from your hand twice."
But why is this superior to what we have now?

For Crown, i think the better solution is a Reaction that triggers at the start of your buy phase, as mentioned before.
What's wrong with an action-treasure?

The main complaint I've heard is "It's too hard to remember whether you played it as an action or a treasure" Dominion has a lot of memory. I don't think duration are stupid because you have to leave them out. Mining village isn't stupid because if you trash it you can forget how many actions you have. Seasons is a great expansion even though it's easy to forget to move the marker.
EDIT: 100th respect! Thx AJD!  ;)

Dominion: Empires Previews / Re: Empires Bonus Preview #5: Castles
« on: May 13, 2016, 08:33:51 pm »
I think that with castles, as with most alt-VP, there will be specific enablers. Candlestick maker seems like a good addition. The +Buy can let you pick up several of them. The coin tokens can smooth out the buying, hitting 10 is a lot easier with a few tokens lying around.

« on: May 13, 2016, 07:21:15 am »
Yeah the whole fun with Villa seems to drastically decrease when the pile is emptied. Unfortunately, that probably means that both people will empty that pile too early before the card can get completely insane.
The missing +Card can be a pretty big deal.
Go pathfinding!

Okay, here's my first puzzle:

Your deck contains only schemes and labs. Why do you put only schemes on top of your deck every turn?
Because they have the +card and +coin tokens on them.

Dominion: Empires Previews / Re: Empires Previews #4: Landmarks
« on: May 12, 2016, 01:14:03 pm »
This is pretty much what I expected Landmarks   I like it.  I vaguely recall fan card threads with this basic premise and it was well received then too, though I and others may have recommended caution for effects with VP swings as big as these.

I especially like the ones that entice you to do things you otherwise wouldn't (Fountain, Battlefield) or make you care about stuff that you usually  take for granted (Wolf's Den, Keep).  I also wonder how many Landmarks that help new players learn strategy (Tomb may encourage a newbie to trash stuff and then they might see that trashing is good even when you don't get VP for it).

Landmarks don't actually have "setup" written on them.  Well, these ones don't at least... Maybe on tomorrow's events.
Battlefield does.

Swindler and Wolf's den make for hilariously low scoring games.
How about masquerade/black market with wolf den?

Art Criticisms:
Battlefield and Wolf Den look horrendous. This expansion seems to be half great art and half horrible art IMO.
Fountain looks good, but it could have a little more focus on the fountain itself.
Tomb and Keep look AMAZING! Would have expected nothing less from their artists.

What's wrong with Wolf Den?
It looks to classical. It's not bad art per se but compared to usual dominion art it doesn't fit. A lot of the previewed art looks to cartoony or not quality enough comapred to other cards.

Does sound pretty gruesome. Of course, we don't know yet for sure the rules about how Events/Tokens interact with Possession. Maybe Events purchased accrue to the possessor, like Cards? Maybe the possessor can move his own tokens but not the possessed's, or vice versa, or both...?
Those things don't sound likely because they would pretty much have to be errata on Possession, which is something Donald doesn't really do.

Dominion: Empires Previews / Re: Empires Previews #3: VP Tokens
« on: May 12, 2016, 10:46:01 am »
I guess the point is that the trouble with the existing VP tokens has been the lack of 10's, since some Goons games can get crazy, especially with multiple players.

If our games get to that point, we generally use coin tokens as 10's.
I've used embargoes as 20 VP tokens! Needless to say that was a very high scoring game.

Gosh. A reason to play Venture before your basic treasures, rather than as an afterthought.
Counterfeit already gave you that reason.
Read the post 3 posts before this.

Gosh. A reason to play Venture before your basic treasures, rather than as an afterthought. You don't want to draw Crown dead.
Simmilar thing with counterfiet,  if you want to double a treasure.

Exclusive - I can confirm there will be another bonus preview today as always planned, and that it will be later than yesterday's.  :P
A few questions:
1) Who?
2) When?
3) What's your source?

DO NOT QUESTION THE VOLTAIRE, FOR HE KNOWS ALL!!!
That's precisely why I am questioning him.

CRAZY bug.
Just played this game: http://gokosalvager.com/static/logprettifier.html?https://dominion-game-logs.s3.amazonaws.com/game_logs/20160510/log.0.1462901128150.txt
My Spy discarded my opponent's Champion! Did those MF...people actually implement Champion as being the top card of your deck when it's not your turn instead of being in play??

He never played it; it was actually the top card of his deck.

Duh. For some reason I was sure he had been playing with it for several turns.
Well, there's a simple test. If he had played champion then the spy would have no effect on him. Champion blocks attacks.  8)

Isn't Rocks just strictly worse than Copper?
Amazing how expensive rocks are these days. I need to stop buying silver bars of Ebay, I'm missing out on the real money-maker here.

Anybody know who's doing their bonus preview today?

Yes.
May I ask who?
