Variants and Fan Cards / Re: Recover
« on: February 17, 2016, 11:45:58 pm »
How about this idea?

Quote
Easter
$0 - Event
End this Buy phase.
If you didn't gain a card in this turn, gain Resurrection and play it.

Resurrection
$0* - Action - Duration
At the start of your next turn: draw until you have 7 cards in hand.
(This is not in the Supply.)

Suggestion for wording:

Recover, Action - Duration, $0
At the start of your next turn, draw until you have 5 cards in hand, then +2 Cards.
-----
You can not gain this if you gained another card this turn.
-----
When you gain this, play it and end your turn.
What happens when I play Golem, revealing Hermit and Throne Room, choosing Hermit to play at first, and play it to gain Recover?
What happens when I play Stonemason, trashing Estate(Curse and Copper pile is empty)?
What happens when my opponent played Swindler to let me gain Recover?
This text has many problems.

And, I think this card/Event is overpowering. Who wants to buy Expedition when this is in the Kingdom?

Variants and Fan Cards / Re: Cantrip - Trasher

There is another card which is similar to cantrip-trasher; Raze. It allows to trash from 4 cards (instead of 5), non-mandatory; it can trash itself when you finish trashing Estates. It is 2-cost .

cost 5!? I didn't expected.
I started from two cards.

Quote
Nurse(Original)
cost 2 - Action
+1 Card
+1 Action
You may trash a card from your hand.

Cleaner
cost 2 - Action
+1 Action
Look at the top of your deck; you may discard it.
+1 Card

Non-mandatory trash is strong, I agree. But how about Chapel? It allows you to trash up to 4 cards. This card just lets you trash only one card. Ratcatcher waits, so it is worth 2. (Royal Carriage is stronger than Throne Room because it waits.)
Shifter. It is similar to Cartographer. I wanted a card that looks before I draw. Then I wondered this is worth buying. So I added two ideas.
Costing 2 is too cheap, I agree. But why 5?

What do you think?

Quote
Nurse
cost 2 - Action
+1 Action
Reveal the top card of your deck; you may discard it.
+1 Card
You may trash a card from your hand.

Worth gaining? It lets you trash only one card.
Proper cost? Similar to Fugitive?

Edit(Jan./9): Shifting made it too strong.

But wouldn't the best play for him always be to say, that it's his action phase?
Because of this the question doesn't matter. Unless we allow for sub-optimal play, which I don't think is normal in puzzles.
Then, how about this:
The reaction card is Secret Chamber.
If you react, your opponent can know you can earn at least 4 coins.
He sometimes wants to know whether you can earn on the last phase - maybe he loses when he buys something.

Next problem

Your opponent played Black Market and a Treasure.
You asked him which phase he was in.
Why did you ask?

There were no cards remaining in the Black Market deck, and the player had Actions remaining. They played Relic, and you are debating revealing a Moat or just taking the token, because you may want to hide your Moat to force your opponent to use their last action on an attack like Witch rather than a more powerful non-attack. If it is the Buy phase, you can safely reveal Moat since he can't Witch you.
Congratulations! Perfect answer!

Normally you can see which phase he's in by whether the 3 revealed cards are still out. To avoid this, the Black Market deck has to be empty.
Right.

The only treasure card I can find, where you knowing matters, is Contraband (you want to know if he can play more action cards). But if this is the case, he can just always answer that it's still his action phase.
Asking which phase he is in when contrabanding is meaningless because no card (except Black Market) lets him buy a card in the Action phase.

Hint: blue card

You need to actually ensure your opponent can buy 9 Chapels.

Buying Copper, my opponent can buy 9 Chapels even if he has worst shuffle luck.

I'm very confused. Was this split from another thread? Is there context? What's the puzzle?
This puzzles were supposed to be posted to "Solitaire subboard". I noticed Q9 is more fun allowing multiplayer game. So I posted here, separating "Easy Puzzles" thread.

Some answers:
A6-a. Durations/Reserve
A6-b. I bought Farmland, trashing Overgrown Estate.

A7-a. Venture
A7-b. I played Procession with Moneylender. I gained and trashed Cultist, revealing Watchtower.

A8. I played another Rats, drawing Overgrown Estate.

A9. This is a possessed turn. I played Procession with Tactician. My opponent gained Border Village and Lost City.
(Maybe I should allow Ferry for King's Court&Band of Misfits Combo.)

A10. I revealed no card. (just a word trick)

I am trying to beat "WORLD RECORD - TURN 4th".
I want to say "Just 3 turns (except extra ones)!"
So I want to know variety of ways of gaining 8 Provinces.

My idea was building Big-Bridge in 4 turns.

On my first turn, I buy Summon and gain a Feast with it.  Baker, Borrow, and Lost City are not in the setup, and I never gain another Feast during the game.  When is this a good idea?  (What did I gain with the Feast?)

Because your opponent gains a Silver when you gain Embassy.

Rules Questions / Re: Band of Misfits & Treasure Map
« on: December 17, 2015, 10:24:15 pm »
Treasure Map should say "did" to be clearer that it wants to look at the past.

Other cards look at the current state of a card to avoid tracking.

Thanks for your explanation.

Rules Questions / Re: Band of Misfits & Treasure Map
« on: December 15, 2015, 07:04:20 pm »
The card doesn't check what cards are in the trash, it cares what the cards you trashed were. When you trashed BoM, it was a Treasure Map, so it counts.

Where is the difference from? Do/did?
What is trashing? Removing from play to send trash, or the all process of sending?

The point is, when I ended the command of the first sentence, BoM and TM are in trash.
Did I actually trash "two TM"?

Rules Questions / Band of Misfits & Treasure Map
« on: December 14, 2015, 07:32:21 am »
Band of Misfits text:
Play this as if it were an Action card in the Supply costing less than it that you choose.
This is that card until it leaves play.

Treasure Map text:
Trash this and another copy of Treasure Map from your hand.
If you do trash two Treasure Maps, gain 4 Gold cards, putting them on top of your deck.

Do I gain 4 Golds playing BoM as TM?
(BoM is TM when in play. It is not TM when in trash.)

Puzzles and Challenges / Re: Round the mulberry bush

I'm not sure what your question is.  Both my solution and AJD's solution explain it fully.  Since you mention BoM and Procession, you're probably asking about my solution.  I stated explicitly that card X is Procession, though it could just as well be Throne Room.  When you finish resolving it, the game state is exactly the same as it was when you first started resolving it.
Oh, I didn't notice "All cards are in the same places they were when I put Action X in my play area,..."
I thought the state should be same to when I started to resolve - BEFORE putting X in my play.

I'm not sure.
The first resolution of BoM ends when you choose Treasure Map to trash it.
The gamestate is different when you resolve Procession.
What is card X?
