Variants and Fan Cards / Re: Idea for a New Dynamic
« on: September 09, 2011, 09:01:15 am »
I think your TR-Tactician thought is flawed, because when you TR any card you play it twice, without any means of doing anything in between the two plays. Unless of course the card says it can be played instantaneously at any time even during the resolving of an action. This latter thought could lead to some interesting cards though, so I vouch your idea.

Dear Rem69!

I'm sorry for:
a) playing outpost every turn
b) drawing my entire deck almost every turn
c) saboteuring you almost every turn
d) trashing your only colony

Thanks for not exiting, I may have done it if I were in your place...

Lick them and bring back happy memories of all of the things you have been eating while playing Dominion!

I never eat while playing board games. I drink beer.  8)

I'm so disappointed that this thread was about physical dirt on cards, and not about some secret alternate printing of Harem.  Name your posts appropriately people.

Naming was on purpose exactly because it's not obvious and it might attract in more users who may have opinions about it. :) (btw shame on you  ;D )

@ the rest of the repliers: thanks for the ideas, more of them are welcome, mostly because these weren't "cleaning" ideas. :)

Dominion General Discussion / Dirty Cards

Some of my cards, especially the Estates and the Coppers, have a lot of dirt stuck onto them due to overusage and not always the most sanitary playing conditions. Any of you have a hint about how to clean them without damaging the cards themselves? I've tried dry towels but it was no use. I can barely fit the Copper deck into it's proper place so any help would be much appreciated.

Game Reports / Re: 5-player game we played last night

I know, that Venture+Mountebank is bad, but at that given situation I preferred to buy treasures instead of a terminal, because there were no +action cards and no trashing cards available and I didn't want my terminals to collide, ending up dead. Plus Venture let me scroll through the deck full with useless crap. I achieved a 2nd place that game, which isn't that bad in 5p. :)

Game Reports / 5-player game we played last night
« on: July 20, 2011, 01:27:10 pm »
Hi everyone!

We got together last night with some friends and after a couple of Dixit matches we turned to our favourite card game. :)

We played two matches, the first was horrible to me because the setup had no +action cards and it had mountebank, which I really hate when used against me, but then again, who doesn't. :) Luckily Venture was on the table too, so after 45 minutes we were able to end this nightmare.

The second game was a bit more interesting. The favoured features of it were Colony, Fishing Village, King's Court, Jester. As probably everyone knows, any good attack card becomes devastating in games with increased amount of players, but this time Jester was pure insanity. The only +action card was Fishing Village, so everyone had a hard time with colliding terminals. Then one of my friends dropped the atomic bomb on us: Fishing village (from previous turn), Jester, King's Court -> Jester. With no money in hand she was still able to buy a Platinum, but before that... well, let's just say she kicked our asses hard: I myself turned up 2 greens, a Copper and a Platinum, gaining 2 Curses and a Copper, the other players turned up even worse sometimes, so in the end she distributed 9 Curses, 2 Coppers, while gaining 2 Platinums, 2 King's Courts and a Gold. The game ended a few turns later with 4 empty piles (Fish, King, Curse, Platinum) with the aforementioned player victorious.

I play a lot with this game, but this match I won't ever forget, I think. :)

Regards!

Rules Questions / Re: Revealing Provinces for Tournament
« on: July 10, 2011, 01:49:40 pm »
If you reveal a province, you gain a prize. If your opponent reveals one as well, you gain a prize, but the +1 card, +1$ part won't happen.

Rules Questions / Re: Buying vs Gaining

My friends and I came up with a phrase for this problem (much like all bugs are insects but not all insects are bugs): all buys are gains but not all gains are buys. :)
