A little clunky, but a remodel variant for Alchemy would be cool.

Hm.  I think as written this is very difficult to use, except earlyish in the game, to trash down and get more Researches.  Midgame, it's gonna be really difficult to pair this with two cards that you want to trash that add up to exactly 2 less than the card you want.  If it's only an early game trasher, then Potion feels like a tough cost to justify.

I agree that this may be hard to use. Maybe if the gaining was mandatory, but otherwise it'll mostly replace the card you trashed with things you don't want.

I didn't see this said anywhere before, but this on-gain is a nice way to give incentive to get the Potion for this. It slows you down less. I feel something like this could maybe make Transmute more worthwhile.

Yes remember that with the on-gain effect, you could trash two coppers to gain one research and one... whatever let's say Farming Village.

That's some good upgrade to your deck !

Welcome! I'm from quebec too :D I've played Heroscape, it's ok. I also play music, I play drums. And it's great to have another person in the fan card section. Check out the fan card contests going on now. There are also these games...forum games... But no one likes them.

I voted top of the deck too, and for the same reason as eHalcyon.

I feel that if a reaction is designed to give you an attack card, well it shouldn't put it in your deck cause it doesn't really feel like revenge or you're ''attacking back''. Also, the fact that you lose Conscripts when you play it is already a minor backlash, so using it in two turns (or the next with a cantrip) isn't that bad. You'll never use it again anyway... unless someone attacks you again.

Also, if the top of the card is good enough, a player will hesitate before discarding it. Making it a one-shot cantrip could do something like that. I also really like Davio's idea, which synergizes well with kingdoms without attacks. Think about it : if someone plays a militia, which card are you going to discard ? Victory cards.

When another player plays an Attack card, you may discard this. If you do, gain a Conscripts from the Conscripts pile, putting it on top of your deck.

Another idea I got by looking at Beggar is that you could gain two cards. One of them could be pretty bad (an estate maybe) and the other could be a Conscripts. I think my idea is better but if it's too strong, that could help balance it.

Design note : The idea behind the name is that the country is going to war when it's attacked (so it build up its army), and when it's peaceful it profits form its lands.

I also just realized that having many lands of war in one hand is actually really good (use one for conscripts, the other one for money + pulling conscripts). It's cool ! The more your country is war-like, the more you profit form entering a war... It needs testing though.

Silence as Simval enters this strange place. Floating around in a
sea of words and discussions are a bunch of dominion cards, and some weird people talking to each other about fan cards, strategies and whatever.

Now that I'm sutck with you guys, I might as well present myself. So I'm simval, from Canada. More precisely, I'm from Quebec, the French-speaking province, so English is my second language. Sorry for any mistakes I'd make, but I think I'm not that bad. ;)

I got introduced to Dominion about a year ago, when my father decided to buy the game to my euro-board-game-loving grand-parents. They were fans of Carcassonne and Ticket to Ride so why not ? They really liked Dominion, but I think I liked it even more ! We bought them Alchemy later and I was hooked.

The problem was that I could only play when we would visit them or when they came to our house... So I asked Intrigue for christmas (I'm 16 years old, still young enough to get a bunch of christmas presents hehe), and now I'm already planning to get some more Dominion ! Probably the base set first... What do you think ?

I sneaked in the forum at the beginning of December and started reading strategy articles on the blog, but I finally decided to register because, first of all, I now own the game and, second of all, the Variant and Fan Cards section grabbed my interest. You're probably gonna see me there later. Yep.

So that's it ! Other things that could interest you : I'm a musician (I sing and play guitar), I really like this game called Heroscape, I like psychology, I like to write (trying to get better in English !)... and that's pretty much it.
