I'm using http://www.heartharena.com/tierlist  to help me with Arena drafts, and some of its recommendations don't make much sense to me.
I got the option for paladin (yay!).

One of my options is between ancient shade, abomination, and cobalt guardian.
The one that looks the best to me is Cobalt guardian. The tier list says it's bad, abomination is below average, and ancient shade is average.
Abomination would be great except that it damages yourself and your minions along with everything else. Ancient Shade great stats for its cost but does (a probable) 7 damage to yourself.  Are these cards really good enough to be worth it despite their drawbacks?

Also, it ranks holy light as terrible. Why?
I'm thinking the tier list might do me more good if I know the reasoning behind the rankings.

I only had three of the cards that were changed (Knife Juggler, Ironbeak, and Leper Gnome), and only one I was willing to part with (a second copy of Ironbeak -the other two I already only have one each and want to keep them). Unfortunately, I haven't found a spellbreaker yet.

Puppets are pretty cool. Is Puppet circus a TV show or something? Anyway, I know I like Enterprise.

"The best $5 card ever" isn't specific enough. Green is awesome. Lots of good things are green (like provinces and colonies).

seriously these got matched against each other on round 1? I'd probably vote for either of these over anything else here. I mean both are kindof essentials for a good life. Really I hate to vote against either one, but water is essential for any life at all so I guess I'll go with that.

another tough one. Then again the last day of school feels good at the time, but then you have to do adult things and often I'd rather go back to school instead.

The first game I played of this Brawl, I got wrecked by a Hunter that got Gadgetzan Auctioneer that I could not answer. Gadgetzan is absurd in this Brawl.

SO lock and Load and Sorcerer's apprentice.

My first game of this brawl, Mana addict was one of my first minions. Easy pack.

Speaking of easy packs, thanks to you KingZog for being my go-to guy for the Watch and Learn quest. I've haven't seen you lose yet.

I think you can remove stuff after 'discard any revealed cards costing $7 or more'. I am ot sure it adds to the card and it's just a bunch of additional words.

Secret Society
Good, and better at $4. Question: Do we know what cards are in the secret society deck?

As ThetaSigma12 mentioned, these three are not his cards. They are his mock-ups of other people's cards. Ancient Temple is mine. The 'discard any revealed cards costing $7 or more' part is there to make it unlikely to gain two provinces by playing two Ancient Temples (or Throning one) with three high-cost cards on top of your deck.

Worst arena prize ever: pack + 1 card (ethereal conjurer -and I already had one)
pack had 4 cogmasters and 1 mini mage.
I went 1-3 this time, 2-3 last time.

How do you get better at arena?

Frustrated not only cause I suck at it, but also because out of the 8 or 10 times I've played arena, I've never been able to use my favorite class (paladin). Seems like about half the time, I end up choosing mage.

IIRC, it was summer of 2012, someone introduced me to the game. They only had Intrigue and said ~'you can play the game with the Base set or Intrigue, but Intrigue is more interesting'. So I got Intrigue first. Now I have about eight expansions including Adventures, and I still don't have the physical base set.

It was about a year later before I found Dominion online and fds (soon after Isotropic shut down).

This is super-weak, even when trashing bad cards. It's nice that it's flexible, but I don't think that saves it. I suggest you double all the bonuses…

The only issue here is that it is now strictly better than tr, as it has the base tr effect and is useful even when you have no actions, even more so if you have a dual-typed action. I think with the doubled bonuses, it should be minimum $5, probably more, or some on-gain penalty.

Side note: I literally haven't read the rest of the thread yet, that post just caught my eye. So if this has been addressed alrady, my apologies.

That suggestion was from a long time ago now. The current version of Iron Furnace (as in the OP) is

Iron Furnace
Cost 2  - Action
Reveal a card from your hand. If it's an action, play it. If it's a ruins, play it again. If it's a treasure, +$2. If it's a victory card, +2 cards. In any case, trash the revealed card.

(besides, his suggestion was never strictly better than TR because the action card would get trashed after being played. -more like procession except without gaining another card.)
