Why doesn't Charlatan give your opponents an extra Buy?

Because that would sometimes help them. Which is maybe not reason enough, but there it is. I may try that version someday. As it is we sometimes buy it just for the Throne and Library combos.
It would also make it a stronger attack when the opponent doesn't have much coin. FWIW, I don't think it needs to give any +buys to be good.

I played a game with Charlatan today. It worked well and it's attack forced several coppers to be bought. But as trivialknot pointed out, it has a rules contradiction with debt. We didn't have the contradiction come up this game, but you might want to make a rule about what happens when someone has debt that they don't pay off while someone else has a Charlatan in play.

Doesn't Charlatan have a rules contradiction with debt?  It says players must use all their buys, but if you have debt then you are not allowed to use buys.  How was this resolved?
We actually didn't notice that because we didn't have a turn where someone didn't fully pay off debt while someone else had a Charlatan in play. So we didn't decide how to resolve this. I guess LF could make a ruling about this since Charlatan is his card.
(There was only one turn in the game where someone didn't fully pay off their debt from last turn and that was when I had a dud turn after buying a City Quarter. No one had Charlatan in play that turn.)

My 3-player game today:




It was the first time I had played with City Quarter, Triumph, and Tomb. Fun board. With plenty of trashing and draw, the catapult/rocks pile got sold out, and we put those rocks to the use they were meant for. And there was the bonus that with every play of catapult, we got a VP because of tomb. The downside of buying rocks here was lowering the action density for City Quarter, and once I drew City Quarter with no action cards. OTOH, I was the only one who bought more than one city Quarter, and I won with 5 provinces and over 20 VP tokens. We never spammed +buy cards, but Rocks, Forum, and Amulet also work as Triumph enablers. I think Triumph was bought four times, and the only one who didn't buy it was the one who came in 3rd. I
LF's Charlatan was put to good use this game. At least 6 extra coppers were bought this game because of its attack.
Each of us bought a Generous Benefactor as well, and it worked well this game. It's coin for other players helped people pay off debt more than once.

Played a game with chariot race where catapult was the only trashing. I got a good start on playing my catapult often and then destroyed him with points from my chariot races.

I have a hard time choosing between Collector, Investor, and Minister as my favorite. I mentioned I like Consortium more than I used to, but still not enough to be one of my favorites. I agree Dividends seems kinda boring.
I don't understand how Proliferate got to be a finalist.

Today, my Empires game came in the mail, so we played a 4p game this evening with my family. I chose a kingdom with half Empires cards with a representation of each of the new mechanics, and the rest cards from Adventures and Base. 1st impressions: I love this Expansion even more than I expected to (tbh, I was less excited about this one than I was about Adventures, but my lack of excitement was unfounded.). Colonnade makes more difference that I thought it would (in a good way). Villa is very fun (as I knew it would be).
I didn't win this game.

I added the last part because it would really suck for the person who played the card if they gave another player a significant benefit when he just gets +1 Action. Like if the revealed card was a Forager and you don't want to be forced to trash the province in your hand.

Cool, I didn't notice till now that the UI has been added. I'll have to put this to use.

Only thing that would make it perfect for me would be the ability to give it a list of fan cards to throw into the randomizer. (No need for pictures of fan cards when it gives the result, just having it print the name would work fine.)

Hmm...not quite sure what to make of this...does it count for the max two events, or do you count it separately?
There is no rule about the maximum 2 events/landmarks. It's just a recommendation. And if you decide use a maximum of 2 events/landmarks, I think the intention is for this event not to count towards the two, but obviously it would be up to whoever plays with it.

I think I've changed my opinion on this one. I like it more now since the draw & discard for other players is optional for them, but if they choose to draw, they also must discard. And if you have a discard attack, you can draw up to 8 without discarding, and then play your discard attack to make everyone else discard. It's potentially very powerful, so I don't think it's overpriced.

I want to make it clear that some Treasure cards don't have to be more expensive. Talisman and Quarry aren't big and spendy. It's not a requirement to have something cost $10000000. I don't hold that against any of the cheap cards.
I agree.  I like Voucher how it is.

And while I'm posting in this thread, I'll say Collector and Investor and probably my two other favorites here.
It's weird that we had two submissions that are so similar with Bronze worker and Investor. I like the idea, so I'm voting for them even though they probably need to be weakened a little, especially Bronze Worker.

Also, while I'm posting: @trivialknot, Do you really find Loan, Royal Seal, and Talisman to be more exciting than Bank?

Just looked at Royal Decree again, and though it isn't exactly political because you can't choose who the benefit happens to, it can give a big advantage to the player on the left of the Royal Decree player. Then I thought of a more neutral version:

I completely agree about Bridge Troll. On one hand, it's kindof a shame that the usual way to view all this artwork is in a much smaller form that it's original resolution. On the other hand, if the purpose of the artwork is to be put on Dominion cards, the artwork should be appropriate to view on Dominion cards. And by 'appropriate to view', I mean we can see what's happening in the picture and don't miss significant details. Bridge Troll is a good example of not being able to see the picture well when it's sized for the card, but there are several Dominion cards where it's hard to tell what's going on in the picture by looking at the card.

I agree that it would be hard to come up with a use for curse tokens that wouldn't work just as well using VP tokens.

General Ramos could've introduced curse tokens for this card, but I think it's interesting & good for the card that as long as you have VP tokens, the attack is weak (no junk card), but then if you run out of tokens you could start getting junk cards. If the card tried to use curse tokens instead of curse cards, then it may as well be this:

Sure, but it seemed wrong to autolink them. Because if someone types "LibraryAdventurer", they are almost definitely talking about you, the forum poster, not talking about Dominion cards by that name.

The drawback of matching on words is that words like "Coppers" no longer link the "Copper" part.

I didn't want to go hunting for the older X and Z cards thread, so I started a new one when I got the idea after Seprix posted one in another thread.

I also didn't add the extra base cards from Intrigue to my storage solution, as I have the American-printed version, and the coloring is way off (especially on curses. They look absolutely horrible.)
Intrigue was the first Dominion game I got, and since I live in Texas, I'm guessing I got the American-printed version, and they look fine. However, I just now finally got the base set (after getting all the others except Alchemy and Empires) and in it, the colors are way off: the curses are pink.
I guess it's like that in the more recent Base and Intrigue sets. I don't remember hearing about this elsewhere. weird.

PS: Seprix inspired me to restart the X and Z card ideas...

good ideas here.

As I write this post, I keep changing my mind about whether I like Seeker. Outside of ruins games (or maybe terminal collision), it seems rare that anyone besides the Seeker-player would flash an action card to Seeker. It seems okay.

The idea with Iron Smelter is to flash your cheapest cards, so when everyone else flashes a copper, you have to have a pretty bad hand in order to activate the better effect (unless you have a madman, spoils, and/or prizes), but +$3, +1 buy a still a pretty good $5 cost card, and the unpredictability of it is probably balance enough.

Preside is nice (although weird as an attack because more often it'll be a benefit to the other players). Usually a strong gainer with the drawback of letting other players trash a copper.

I really like Cardinal (despite not needing the 'flash' mechanic), though it might need a minor nerf. +4 cards, discard one (as it will usually be) is still stronger than most smithy+ cards even if it didn't have an attack on it. EDIT: Then again, the attack is pretty weak, so it might be fine.

Blueprint and Gleemen are the only ones here I don't like. Blueprint is a dud, and Gleemen doesn't look like it'd work well. After a couple plays (if not at first), everyone will flash a treasure.

Comparing Catapult with Militia it looks really strong. Catapult gives one less coin, but trashes a copper in the process and costs one less, and it can trash silver for a stronger attack.
