This question is aimed at those higher ranked players at Level 25+ @ Isotropic.

My question is if you were forced to restart right now at level 0 (for w/e reason) how long would it take you to get to your current level? Would it be faster or slower or just about the same pace? Why? How long would it be in relation to your original pace at climbing the levels?
edit: Ok, from now on state how much you might play too please. (I doubt anyone will play 24/7)

Rules Questions / Re: Another query - Cellar/Tunnel/Watchtower
« on: December 19, 2011, 09:53:17 pm »
Amazing.  A situation where discarding 3 cards via Cellar is better than playing Warehouse.

I'd say "take that, theory!" but that would just foster ill-feelings all 'round.  It is, admittedly, a very specific instance.
But... you just said that ???

Are you playing in text or image mode and if in image then you possibly had a browser bug. Sometimes the browsers don't load up the image as the text etc. comes first. Images on any web page are loaded last in my experience.

Cat requires some sense of trolling so in the next post there must be a dog with a Dominion meme telling what the next post must include.
Post below read the underlined part again. =/

I've always wanted to try and play because it sounds fun, but I really don't want to go out and pay money for cards and such. Is there any cheaper way to play? Like, an online version or something?
Read the post above you...

General Discussion / Re: Dominion intrudes on real life
« on: December 19, 2011, 06:04:34 pm »
When trying to be waken up in the morning I say "Just 5 more villages".
When playing Mine Craft for the first time I asked "Wheres the Silver?" (in a multiplayer game). All I got was blank looks all around from my friends =\.
When I hear about Long Island I will often accidentally say "Donald made a new version of Island?"
When I play with a regular deck of cards now and I see Jack I say "Where'd the "Of All Trades" go?"  All I get is blank looks.
When I make a joke about Dominion. All I get is blank looks. -_-'

Oasis is often useless. Very board-dependent though.

You're a mean one, Mr. Thief.
You really are a Curse.
You're as cuddly as a Contraband,
You're as charming as an Ill-Gotten-Gain.
Mr. Thief.

You're a cheap Conspirator
With a greasy Black Market.

You're a Minion, Mr. Thief.
Your Highway's an empty Trash.
Your Hoard is full of Ghost Ships,
You've got Copper in your Moat.
Mr. Thief.

I wouldn't Stash you, with a
thirty-nine-and-a-half foot Pawn.

You're a vile one, Mr. Thief.
You have Smugglers in your smile.
You have all the tender sweetness
Of a seasick Ambassador.
Mr. Thief.

Given the choice between the two of you
I'd take the seasick Ambassador.

You're a Loaned one, Mr. Thief.
You're a nasty, wasty Witch.
Your Highway is full of unwashed Coppersmiths.
Your Moat is full of Dukes.
Mr. Thief.

The three words that best describe you, are as follows, and I quote:

You're a rotter, Mr. Thief.
You're the King of sinful Scouts.
Your Highway's an Embargo Token splotched
With moldy Golden spots,
Mr. Thief.

Your Moat is an appalling dump heap overflowing
with the most disgraceful assortment of deplorable
Rabble imaginable,
Mangled up in tangled up Goons.

You nauseate me, Mr. Thief.
With a nauseaus Shanty Town.
You're a crooked jerky Jacky
And you drive a Discarded Dominion.
Mr. Thief.

You're a three decker Scrying Pool and Trader's Route Island
With Oasis sauce!

Top that.

Yeah, I got that thanks. Hope I don't play you or anyone else who's had their sense of humor removed anytime soon.
You were being rude, not funny.
Whatever dude. I guess all you 40+ take yourselves way too seriously.
You were being rude to him. This is coming from a level 0. Please think about what you would've thought if someone said "Hope I don't play you or anyone else who's had their sense of humor removed anytime soon." to you. Think about that until you understand how it is rude, until then, please don't respond.

Actually, apparently the same happens with phones.

Adept42-Level 20s (think this was 24?)

Epic game in which the last person you would expect to be in 3rd place ends up in 3rd place. I used some tricks with my Apprentices to try to get a lead but it just wasn't enough. GG and Well played to either of you 2 that sees this. This took a while to play but the result was quite surprising.

http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201112/16/game-20111216-193331-f3a79a1a.html

Thought I would post this here since there isn't the thread where noobs would post their games and get them reviewed anymore which was here when I first came to this forum(I can't find it through search :( ). So, basically in this game I won with Silk Roads since I couldn't get Border Villages and Provinces. My first game that I've won without using either gardens or a bunch of provinces. Also, I almost made 8 estates for piledriver :(

463
Quite good actually. I use Verizon in NJ,USA.

464
I and some people I play that are on around the same time as me are having this same bug in-game. Isotropic randomly stops responding to commands. Sometimes it will look normal other times the +$3 etc. buttons will be white-faded text instead of bold.

Also, any text I type and hit send for will disappear from where I typed it but will not show in my chat log. This has caused me to have to close the tab for isotropic in quite a few games(and as a result lose them). Only been happening after the add on of the new expansion. (as a side note I am returning to Dominion after a 4-7 (I'm too lazy to count) months break).
Occurred when:
-Buying a card for my deck
-Start of my turn
-Start of opponent's turn
-during 3/4 player games
-while using most updated versions of Chrome, Safari, and Firefox.
-while using slightly older versions of above.

Hissyfit

Where on Earth has anybody ever said that the official electonic Dominion product is going to be for smartphones only? IIRC it has been announced that it will be available "on multiple platforms" and it's been assumed right from the start that one (probably the main one) of these platforms will be PC. If you don't have a PC at the moment then maybe you should "move to Russia".
Hahahahahaha nice one :). Thanks for the information Donald :].

467
First of all, that was official beta art. Also, if isotropic dies I'll request an auto match function in the app.

I have attached some commentary for this game

@WanderingWinder, et. al:
Feel Free to download and add your own commentary
@fp, thanks for the commentary.  "Had the Hoard been a Gold you could have bought a Platinum here.", was an eye-opening illustration of why Hoard isn't optimal.  "Had your City been a Minion, you could have bought another Minion here."  I bought that City on turn 4 when it's critical to improve my buying power - plus, I already had a Mining Village... I see why it was such a bad play.  Two things were over my head as while I'm learning from your commentary, I still don't fully have the grasp of the game, so I'll ask:
1. Turn 16 purchase Colony/Mining Village with 15 coin and 2 buys, "You are still stuck at one Platinum; I would have bought Platinum+Gold here. You engine allows you to buy multiple cards per turn."  Is this because I need more Platinum in my deck to fuel future Colony purchases?
2. Turn 21 Dutchy purchase with 7 coin.  "This is questionable. If you were to buy a Gold instead, that Gold would help you earn you at 4 points by buying a Colony instead of a Province." At turn 21, should I start realizing I am diluted by too many green cards and need to add Gold to increase my Treasure to Green Card ratio?
\t
Warning: I am also a novice so take this with a hand full of salt.
I forget where but I read a guide on the blog stating that you should generally(rule is often broken but this is a standard to start with) only buy a duchy with <$8 if it looks like you won't reshuffle twice before the game ends. Buy estate (<$2) if you won't reshuffle before the game ends(this is often broken). In a colony game buy a province when the game begins to turn into a race to clear the colonies and you don't have enough $ for the colonies. I may be in the wrong here in which case better players can tell me where my mistakes lie.

edit: @ kir.(abbreviated) Where did all the games go lol. I think I resigned/disconnected from quite a few lol.

The one thing I know and am sure about it is that this has nothing to do with quantum mechanics.
That made me laugh so hard lol.

470
Well I mean b and you would want villages so that you can use terminal action cards.

Dominion General Discussion / Re: Pearl Diver
« on: July 08, 2011, 01:34:10 pm »
Pearl Diver is basically just buying an ability to move a card from the bottom...(this been said enough times in one thread lol) that appears at different times throughout your deck. See I think of it more as an ability, a spell etc. since it replaces the spot in your deck it took with the card that would normally be there anyways. Works well with other +draw cards and when you are drawing your entire deck almost every turn it can help with that by making it so you don't lose cards as soon as you begin getting VPs. Overall, a good card that shouldn't be bought too often for fear of wasting precious $ and should be used wisely. For with great power comes great responsibility. (Now that wasn't said in this thread yet ;))

:o How is it that on a community as small as this you ended up in the same one o.O

473
So, I don't like Council Room a lot personally, because I don't like giving my opponents cards, but it can be quite strong. I do want to point out though, that like any other terminal card draw, with it in your deck, you really want to be loading up on money. So Council Room goes better with Venture than it does with lab. Lab goes better with itself. And which of those two plans is better depends on if there's another strong terminal you want to be able to play or not.
Yes. This I already understand myself. However, it can still be a great addition to a lab/village deck.

474
...Now, here is a recent game I would like reviewed T.T..
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201107/07/game-20110707-161517-080af945.html
In this game(3 player) I feel I didn't play my best and as such ended up with a two-way tie instead of the win I was looking for. Any suggestions to how I would've done better? I do worst in 3 player games which is why I posted this.
Rejoicing in a tie is usually satisfactory for me.  I only see 2 issues:
Turn 7: Venture purchase with no trashing of Copper could have been better spent as a Conspirator or Laboratory.
Turn 8: Don't buy the additional Silver, Province alone is good here.
Okay, maybe Lab would have been better than Venture on 7, but that's not a big issue. Conspirator, however, would have been MUCH worse. Venture is like sick broken with copper trashing, but it isn't weak without it.
On 8, that's horrible advice. You absolutely want to get that extra silver there. Why would you not?
The biggest issue I see is buying a Royal Seal in the opening - either Venture, Lab, or Council Room would have been significantly stronger than the barely-better-than-silver.
Other than this, I think you played well. It's just a fast board and there's not a lot you can do.
Ok thanks guys :). Yeah that game was real fast. Now I'm starting to favor council a lot more than I did in my first 80 or so games.

lol@the other thread's last reply :P. I've never gotten mint in any of my games(Maybe one but even then....) as I just find it to be a bad card to use. If you want to trash silvers then sure but there are other cards that can trash much more effectively.
