Game Reports / Re: Horse Traders + Duke/Duchy

Interesting game!  I don't like the fact that Blooki switched gears after seeing you were going for the Duchy spam, as changing your game plan to copy your opponents game plan usually means you're going to be behind.  You've already committed to a HT->Duchy/Duke strategy, which means you won't be suddenly buying a Ghost Ship to attack him or something.

Given my hindsight, and *seeing* exactly what you're doing for the first 10 turns obviously is going to greatly bias my opinion, but had he gone for a mega KC - draw combo, do you think he could have finished you off with 8 Horn of Plenties -> 8 provinces before you can get enough Dukes?

Given a start of Gold on turn 4 and 5, I don't think it would've taken him that long to get a deck of something like KCx3/Smithyx3/WVx3/HoPx8/WW/MoneyLender/Silver/Gold/Royal Seal.

Edit -- I just tried it solo, and forgetting to buy a HT myself early for the extra buy once my engine is going slowed me down a bit, but on turn 17 I would've cleared all 8 provinces, faster than your HT/Duchy/Duke strategy.

I'm not trying to dismiss your strategy either, it does seem like it's a good one given certain setups.  Especially if your bait your opponent into buying Duchies to try to slow your strategy down, but I'm just saying in this given setup (with KC + HoP), that Blooki probably should've not changed gears.

Other Games / Re: What other games are as good as Dominion?

If you're winning 90% of the time, then your opponents need to get better!  Also, when asking for recommendations, I would suggest being a little more specific.  Are time constraints an issue?  How many players?  Complexity?  It's funny that you win so many dominion games, because I find it's one of the toughest games to win consistently (luck factor + winning player goes last the next game).

Are time constraints an issue?  I love Agricola, but it's a longer game (generally 30 minutes per player, so 4 player game = 2 hours).  It's also a more complex game so skill plays a large role in the game.  (Agricola is one game where I win fairly consistently).

For a simpler game, I enjoy 7 Wonders.  It's a quick game (30 mins), and can play 3-7.  (I think there are rules for 2p as well, but it's a variant and plays differently from the norm)

Puzzles and Challenges / Re: All the peddlers

I can get 6 Peddlers on turn 4, which naturally extends to 10 (12, if there were that many) on turn 5.

T1: Hamlet
T2: CouncilRoom
T3: Play Hamlet (discard Estate for +Buy) + Council Room; Buy Talisman + Pawn.  (2 cards left in deck after this)
T4: Hamlet (discard 2 Estates for +Action +Buy), + Council Room (drawing 2 Copper + Talisman + Pawn) + Pawn ($1 + Buy), buy 3 Peddlers = 6.

If only there was a card that was +1 Action / + 1 Buy that cost $1 to buy :(

I actually really like jimjam's solution.  It's not the "brute force" method of Throne Room / Bridge that so many of these puzzles use.
