Anybody in here has any experience with signal processing? I have signals that have a huge messy noise source around 50kHz that I want to get rid off. I've tried some things already with less good results than I was hoping, so I am looking for options.

I would have some ideas for audio signals specifically (e.g. just leave it there because who cares about 50kHz), but you probably mean something different.

Dominion Articles / Re: Dominion Strategy: The Art of Control
« on: November 30, 2016, 01:48:02 am »
What you're doing superficially shouldn't really affect your definition of a strategy, because it's strategically irrelevant. One of the most important aspects of both control decks in MTG and engine decks in Dominion is that most of the time, your opponent is the "beatdown". That's why the comparison kind of makes sense (although slog would be a more accurate equivalent in that sense). Tempo decks in MTG, however, tend to be the beatdown quite often.

The reign of Awaclus has finally come to an end after five months, ten days. Welcome to a new era of necro wars.

I'm still the moral winner until you've held the longest necro for longer than 5 months and 10 days.

In this game, my opponent and I both bought Mandarin and Adventurer, and given our decks at the time I think these were actually the right moves. (The Mandarin buy was sketchier than the Adventurer buy, but buying it let me topdeck just a Counterfeit.)

Mandarin is generally an OK card when the kingdom is weak like that.

155 hours for five minutes? :o

That's 155 hours for 300 seconds, making over 1 hour for every two seconds.

Yeah. Something like 20-40 hours per song is more typical for my productions.

It should be noted though that the length of the song is largely irrelevant (it only matters for recording, and even then you can copy&paste a lot). Rather, what makes the production take longer is having a lot of complex sound design, and this song certainly had that because I designed all the sounds from scratch multiple times since I improved a lot on the way. Also there are like a dozen of different lead synths.

I made a collaboration with the very talented vocalist SEiMEi from the Philippines, which turned out to be quite the project. I spent a total of 155 hours producing the music over the course of one year, and now it's finally done. Phew.

Black Friday is just one world-wide Bridge.

Country-wide, I thought.  Please tell me this American madness hasn't infected the rest of the world...

Last year, only a couple of companies were doing it in Finland. This year, I think it was already a lot more popular.

My band also had a 25% off of digital downloads deal for Black Friday (the joke is that our music is free/pay-what-you-want).

Dominion FAQ / Re: Best Promotional Cards To Buy My Brother?
« on: November 26, 2016, 01:47:21 am »
Would it be OK to buy him Guilds even though Cornucopia was released earlier than Guilds?

Yes. After all, the game is supposed to function well with any random 10 cards, so it'll function just as well with a random selection from the first 4 sets and Guilds as it does with a random selection from the 4 first sets and Cornucopia.

Amazon says Guilds adds depth and complexity, it won't make the game annoyingly long/complex though? I don't want to buy him something he won't be happy with D:

Not annoyingly long for sure, the expansion might actually speed your games up because all of the cards are fast to resolve and most of them tend to make games shorter in terms of turns. As far as complexity is concerned, that depends on what you find annoyingly complex — if you're struggling with buying decisions and don't like the idea of struggling with them significantly more than you already are, Guilds might be too complex because it does precisely that (probably more than any other expansion). If that doesn't sound like a problem, then it'll probably be a fun expansion to get.

Sometimes an Avanto is just an expensive Smithy.

Huh, I've never had that experience with avantoes...

I think I win this now.

I had €14 from Actions (including Grand Markets) and 4 Coppers in hand, so I clicked where the "play treasures" button is and wondered why my turn ended.

I only own Base, Intrigue, Seaside, Prosperity, Dark Ages, Guilds and I think one more small expansion (not sure) EDIT: no, just the ones I mentioned by name. Can I join?

Okay, let's try this instead.

You are down 60-0. No cost reduction, no cards on the Tavern Mat, no Durations in play. You have only one buy. With your one buy, you three-pile and end the game, winning. How did you do it?

You have a bunch of Feodums and buy a Masterpiece for €748483839293947474839.

However, you can't do this if there are no coppers or curses (or other $0 card) in the supply.

If there are no Coppers or Curses or Silvers in the supply, the game is usually over.

Not if it's still your buy phase.

Or a 5-6 player game.

Good point — if it's a 5-6 player game, it's not usually over (any time soon, at least).

Dominion General Discussion / Re: How many games have you played?
« on: November 24, 2016, 11:58:22 am »
Okay, some of your numbers have to be off. Dominion came out in 2008. Assuming it's been out for 2885 days (just 30 days shy of 8 years, so the number 2885 is assuming Dominion came out January 1, 2008) then some of you are claiming to have played about 3 games of Dominion per day, every day.

That's crazy. And I really can't imagine that being true.

When I was in high school, I would usually play at least 5, but more often around 10-15 games every day in between the classes.

I dub thee Journeyman. It's very similar to Smithy which is Davio, and I always mix the two of you up.
Yeah, somehow my old avatar got removed from the internet, so I hastily had to pick a new one. I like Island.

I saw your post and immediately got confused because I didn't remember saying that.

You're Farmland because I always confuse you with someone else.

Game Reports / Re: Beware Conventional Wisdom
« on: November 24, 2016, 11:52:40 am »
So, conventional wisdom says that if you are going for alt VP and the other player is going province, don't get provinces yourself.

That's not what the conventional wisdom says. The conventional wisdom says that if your opponent wants to end the game earlier than you do, don't help him end the game. That you should not get Provinces against a Province opponent when you're going alt-VP was, IIRC, just something that came up in an actual game where someone was going for an engine against a big money opponent, and thusly, only applied to that particular game.

Around 7000-8000 probably. Haven't kept track of my IRL games, but there are hundreds for sure.
