It depends on the mother-in-law...
Are you married to your mother-in-law?  :o

Not that there's anything wrong with it...

Simulation / Re: Simulator Challenge(Dominate): Beat everything but SillyAI
« on: November 14, 2013, 03:11:14 am »
It currently doesn't work on Andrew's version: there are some strategies that are about 1% better than it, as far as I can tell; BigMoneyBaker is actually a lot better, but that's cause the AI doesn't quite know when to hold on to Coin tokens.
But it works on rspeer's version, because rspeer knows when to hold on to Coin tokens?

Dominion General Discussion / Re: What would a leveled-up City cost?
« on: November 13, 2013, 02:06:50 pm »
Goons is better than Gold, but it's terminal, so you'll get both Goonses and Golds in a game with no villages. Lvl 2 City doesn't provide money, so you'll get both Lvl 2 Cities and Golds in a game with no terminal $.

16680
Right, but then the questions is, is an instant gold better than an instant duchy?
Yes, if it's helping you reach $8 and buying a Province isn't breaking the PPR or otherwise a stupid idea late-game-strategy-wise.

16681
That's because I haven't posted them yet, Potion cards are missing too. I will posting them.

Thanks.  Thanks everyone else, too.

I haven't seen Diadem used productively, but maybe someday I will.
At least it's an instant Gold if your opponent doesn't have the Province. That's not too bad, especially since the other Prizes, except maybe Bag of Gold, are likely gone at this point, which means it's pretty late in the game.

Prefecture is a Victory card, so if you draw 1 card of your choice and a Victory card, it's possible that you get to draw a card of your choice and another Prefecture, which isn't that bad if you have the action to play the other Prefecture.

True, but..
1) You need multiple actions as you mention; not just 1 extra, but 3 extra if you want the 2 cards of your choice to be Actions. That's a lot of Villages needed.
You can choose a village, too.

Markets are strong in militia games as they help you get 8 coins from 3 cards. Don't buy silver ahead of markets.

Smithy + treasure is better than militia + treasure but the market helps the militia more.
I thought that cantrips are weaker than usual in Militia games.

Though, the same is true for Silver, too.

I'm not sure if that's even possible, most certainly it isn't likely. I'm not sure how he thinks he would benefit from buying a Silver and letting you smuggle a Silver instead of buying a Market and letting you smuggle a Market that early, so I believe he just thought that Silver is better than Market for him in that situation for some reason. I'm usually playing against 5.3k+ and I still get opponents who open Pirate Ship, so that kind of thing does sound possible.

Also, I would be extremely annoyed if you started taking 4 minutes per turn several times. It's not that surprising that he doesn't want to respond to you after that.

Are Scout/Harem or Scout/Nobles any better than plain BM? I doubt it, but simulation required.
Nobles/BM > Scout/Nobles engine > BMU. The optimal number of Scouts for Scout/Nobles seems to be 0, but it still beats BMU pretty easily when it buys Scouts when 50% of the deck are Victory cards, and by a small difference when it buys Scouts when 33% of the deck are Victory cards.

I think it shouldn't be an attack if it doesn't hurt them most of the time.  Also, Saboteur is way better at the trashing part because it digs for a card to trash, and chooses the first one, while trashing from hand gives five choices, and doesn't always trash.

Playing a card that affects another player's hand or deck through trashing MUST be an Attack though, right?
No. It can be an Attack if you want to, but it doesn't have to be.

Though, trashing from deck doesn't screw up your hand.

From a logistics standpoint, I think it should look through your discard rather than your deck. That avoids the time-consuming reshuffle.
Though, that would make it much more powerful, since then you're getting the card twice per reshuffle.

Farming Wishing Well isn't as good as you think with the way I've worded it. It would become: +1 action, dig for an action or treasure and put it into your hand, then wish for a card.
Right. I don't know what I was thinking.

I'm not sure, but it's the same thing Mail-mi was thinking as well ::)
Great minds think alike!

...

What about making these modifiers, as in, during setup they're put on supply piles and do their thing. e.g.:

Mining...
Cost: +1
Cards in the supply pile this is attached to get the text "You may trash this card immediately. If you do, +$2" after all of their on play effects.

Farming...
Cost: +1
Cards in the supply pile this is attached to get the text "Reveal cards from the top of your deck until you reveal an action or Treasure. Put that card into your hand and discard the others." in place of the first instance when the card would draw or reveal a card from the top of your deck.

Border...
Cost: +3
Cards in the supply pile this is attached to get the text "When you buy this, gain a card costing less than it."

Worker's...
Cost: +1
Cards in the supply pile this is attached to get the text "+1 buy" after all of their on play effects.

Wandering...
Cost: +1
Cards in the supply pile this is attached to get the text "Reveal the top 3 cards of your deck, put the Actions back on top in any order, and discard the others." after all of their on play effects.

Yeah wording could probably be better, but it's the bad card threads so whatever.

Mining Feast is the most useless card ever.
Farming Scout is the most OP card ever.

EDIT: Wait, it isn't. Farming Scrying Pool would be fun, though. And Farming Wishing Well.

I think this is how you should do it (I happened to have a deck of MtG cards nearby, so I used that to demonstrate the point):

16698
There's nothing wrong with that opinion but I don't think it's constructive/fun/useful/optimal for the forums to post one liners like that without shedding any light on why you feel that way.
I don't think that making it two lines would have improved it at all, and I also do not think that it's relevant to know why I happen to like unthronable Highways. You were saying that Donald X. might as well have made Highway thronable because it would have caused less rules confusion that way, I was saying that I disagree because I think that the improvement in gaming experience is worth the extra confusion. It's nice that you explained why you think that it causes more confusion, because there could have been people saying "No, I don't think it causes more confusion, why would you think that?", but I really, really doubt that anyone here is going to say "No, I don't think you like Highways you can't throne!" (inb4 someone actually says it).

Question: Should I do a cover of Chocolate Rain, as I can make my voice sound really deep?
Yeah!

I'm currently working on a vocal cover of Renai Circulation by Kana Hanazawa. I like challenges.

Wandering Survivor
Cost:1

Look at the top two cards of your deck. You may discard the cards which are not actions. Return the remaining cards to the top of your deck in any order.
This would be interesting if it was mandatory and the cost would be $0 just like the rest of the Ruinses. Sometimes, it can be great, sometimes, you'll discard a Platinum and return a Ruins.
