I strongly suspect Amb/Amb would have been stronger openings for both of you.

If they both play algorithmically, it shouldn't matter, but I don't believe they did...

Dominion Articles / Re: Snowballing
« on: July 14, 2012, 01:52:00 pm »
I think the Embargo makes sense as a card which causes snowballing. My opponent opened 5/2 on a board where the 5 of interest was margrave and also bought an embargo. I opened 4/3 (in the 2nd player spot) and was locked out of the margrave when my opponent embargoed it on turn 3 (no trashers in this game either).

How would those who are against the add-on feel if there was no UI, and that those who enabled the add-on would have to type !status or !details just like the non-users? All players have to deal with the clogged messages that display the information and no single opponent has access to the information 100% of the time if the add-on functioned this way.

I figure some would still be against this, but I doubt this would be granting any competitive advantage at all. This is the next logical step.

This would be my strong preference. I am among those who didn't realize that my opponent has been passively receiving information while I must request it.

Help! / Re: Militia, Watchtower
« on: June 29, 2012, 07:19:58 am »
Without looking at the set, I think Militia is almost a must-buy in any set (without a curser) early in the game...knocking an opponent on T3/4 from 6 to 5 or 5 to 4 (or 5 to 3...) is crippling.

Re: 3p v 4p

While not a perfect solution, if you could get someone to fill in for a missing player (drafted out of the Great Hall lounge, if necessary) so that people don't play 3 player games...it'd be at least better than the current situation.

Anyway, I appreciate the effort that went into this tournament and regret that I will be mostly unable to participate in the other qualifiers.

Effect with: 0.00
Effect without: 4.16

Apparently I'm really good at recognizing when it's a bad card. That's 152 games and I acquire it 88.8% of the time.

Game Reports / Super Mandarin?
« on: June 10, 2012, 05:13:45 am »
http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201206/10/game-20120610-020958-30d35db2.html

On turn 3 I drew 7 money, bought a border village and picked up a mandarin...putting my $7 back up top. Repeat on turns 4/5/6/7. This could have been really dominating if there had been some sort of card draw...or was I screwing myself?

I won the game, but my opponent, moat, played very oddly to me. In all 3 games I played against him he greened very very early and it wasn't necessarily on provinces...was I playing a bot or something?

I feel like the real advantage of militia vs seahag [regarding chapel] is that it slows down his trashing dramatically to nuke his handsize to 3.

1:45 minced: hi gl
1:47 I love you: fckin rigged
1:49 I love you: youre so fucking lucky

... same old song. I apparently "rigged" the game by buying native villages (initially for the pseudo-trashing so i could cycle mountebank) over silver and buying minions when the other player bought silvers and spammed mountebank. I think it's the same guy, and he's just a colossal prick who would complain that a game of chess was rigged.

I just had an experience with the same player:

18:00 I love you: never knew you could just buy those
18:00 jayarsea: yea
18:00 I love you: i hope you get cancer and die slow faggot

After buying a duchy and 3 curses [with a goons played] to empty the curse pile and win by one point.
