In a recent game, the bot ruthlessly chapel'd down his deck until he only had a silver and pearl divers left.  Then every single turn, he played every pearl diver he had, then bought another pearl diver.  When the pearl divers finally ran out, he bought a copper to start building up again.

Well, if we look which other games RGG has published we can speculate that the next Promo card may be based on Power Grid or Stone Age or something.

Walled Village was for Carcassone I believe and Governor of course was for Puerto Rico.
Envoy, Black Market and Stash were for annoyance.

Hm, but it would have to be appropriately themed for the time period.  Maybe something like a windmill?  And hopefully it will have some kind of easily-misunderstood mechanic, so I can yell out "Windmills do not work that way!" any time someone plays it wrong.

situation: bought a lab in a kingdom with only non-terminals.
what you think you've done: bought a power 5 cost card
what you've actually done bought a shanty town

situation: Made the above argument.
what you think you've done: Totally dissed Lab
what you've actually done: Made a good case for buying a single shanty town in such a deck

I must be playing too much Isotropic lately because I had a dream last night about playing.  The info button had point graphs for each player (like the council room graphs, but in real time).  There was also info about the cards built into the buy interface (win % with the card, personal win % with the card, etc.)  I was playing a three player game, and the third was so cocky that he skipped the first few turns.  Then I woke up.  Note to Doug Z:  don't actually put those features in, they were terrible to play with  :P

The really bad one for me is when there's chapel and cellar in the same kingdom setup.  I've accidentally bought the cellar on multiple occasions, then wonder why my chapel isn't showing up  :(

4-1-1

Some close games, include one tie.  Thanks to Hunting Party of One for some fun games!


Game 1WallyNate 38 - 25 Hunting Party of One
Young Witch game with various trashing options.  I go Steward early and my opponent goes Salvager.


Game 2:  WallyNate 36 - 36 Hunting Party of One
Jack game where I go Upgrade to supplement, while my opponent goes with Saboteur.  We end up tying.


Game 3WallyNate 30 - 22 Hunting Party of One
Alchemist game where I use Apprentice to trash, whereas my opponent gets a trade route for trashing, and buys a few victory cards to get the value up.  I initially overlook the +buy on the trade route, so end up overpaying for one of my own near the end.  I don't think my late trade route made too much of a difference, though.


Game 4WallyNate 27 - 25 Hunting Party of One
I go for Young Witch and my opponent goes for Forging.  The forging does better than I thought it would, turning quite a few 4-cards into provinces, but I ended up pulling it off.


Game 5:  WallyNate 31 - 35 Hunting Party of One
Shanty Towns don't work very well with Embassies.  My opponent utilized the Remodels well.


Game 6WallyNate 34 - 26 Hunting Party of One
My opponent goes for pirate ships, and I go mostly BM/Witch.  We both use develop for a little trashing.  He got quite a few hits on me, but the big money won out.

One that my group always does is refer to Provinces as "Asia" (due to Asia being worth the most in Risk).  Whenever the first province in a game is bought, we almost always say "E's got Asia!  Get im!" (due to the piling on that happens when someone conquers Asia in Risk.  Though it's much harder to pile on in Dominion).  The few times we've played with Colonies, they're "Super-asia"

Thanks for the games, DStu!  My Comments:

Game 1:  I got hosed pretty early by shuffle luck.  DStu was able to buy a ghost ship and trash all his estates by turn 5, whereas I got $4, $4, and chapel with 4 coppers on turns 3-5.  I'd like to think I put up a valiant struggle after that, but I got beat pretty soundly.

Game 2:  My stables did a better job of cycling than his caravans and my expands helped me get a few extra provinces.

Game 3:  I think masquerade was the stronger choice here, as I find rabble to be weak early game, especially since it helped my own cycling.

Game 4:  I avoided the walled villages because I had so many stables that they probably wouldn't stay on top much.  I also avoided another drawer like embassy since I would've had so many stables and dead cards, though in retrospect, it would've been good to have a heavier drawer.  I was trying to make due with stables, but in the end it wasn't enough.

Game 5:  I probably should've gone heavier on giving him coppers and getting rid of my own, but I had too many tempting buys instead of giving away 2 coppers.

Game 6:  I got an early lead, then squandered it by greening too early, and going for an unfocused approach of minion/wharf/tournament.  I should've tried to end it earlier, but I got complacent with my lead, and fell victim to DStu's mega-turn.

I wonder if there are Godelian consequences of this.  Such as, "I name the card Blankety-Blah, which we have decided is a Treasure worth $6 that you gain if and only if you ever name this card due to a Contraband."

Damn you, Kurt Gödel!  Now Dominion will never be complete without being inconsistent!
