Dominion General Discussion / Re: * Plunder Previews #3: Loot *

Any particular reason the top Loot card isn't face up like it would be with Ruins or Knights?

Isn't that just Envy?

OK, you can buy a sea chart, you can hire a witch, butů buying tide pools IRL, really??

The only weird thing is that it's not a victory card.

Seaside was the first expansion I got, for Christmas 2012, and along with Dark Ages the one whose cards I've played the most, so I'm excited to see what's new.

I only ever play with my wife, and if one of us gets it the other is getting it anyways.

I lost a game because I bought Cultist and my opponent didn't - which gave her 5 more cards for her Fairgrounds.

Bishop/Fortress where neither player buys anything on their turns will give you unlimited points.

Not exactly a narrative, but I like how we have all we need for a proper Coven - a Maiden, Mother, and Crone, or a Young Witch, Witch, and Old Witch.

We already have the dog, goat and two rats mentioned by the flavor text, now I really just want a turtle.

I played a 4p game last night with Swindler and it was crazy. Just absolute chaos. Which is great if that's what you're going for.

I still don't understand any of it, but I don't have Stash.

Only if it's in the trash pile when Necromancer is out.

I did a mini-review of the first 5 here....

FWIW, try to value them by how much you'll actually use them.  Sure, the regular sets come with many more cards, but it wouldn't be saying much if you didn't like say, half of them.

As far as the rest of them go, Summons isn't too shabby, nor Dismantle.
You lost all credibility to me when you rated Governor and Stash as 5/5, but Black Market only 3/5.

Based on the pattern, I assume Prince would get a rating of 8/5?

It would get a 3.6/5. Not great, but not terrible.

Something weird with if you want to market a game for younger than that, you have to pay yourself to have it tested for lead (you know, in case the 12 year olds eat the cards.)

Probably. But that's the fun of it. You know you'll probably be wrong anyway, so you might as well make a guess. Besides, if you seat a monkey at a typewriter and give it infinite time, it will eventually produce Hamlet.

Actually, they've done studies, and it turns out that's not true; monkeys have a bias towards producing terminal draw, not discarding pseudo-villages.

Yesterday I won a game that ended on piles - Duchy, Duke, and Duchess. Maybe not unusual, but it seemed thematically appropriate.

"Ruined Dominion" - Landmark

All cards cost $1 less this game.

I started out sorting by color, but I realized sorting by type makes more sense.

One fun thing to consider: if we posted lists with commentary straight to the wiki, it wouldn't be too difficult to make them sortable any way anyone wanted. It would be hard to keep them a "surprise" that way, though.

What if someone wanted them to not be sortable at all?

Dominion General Discussion / Re: Best Kingdom Names?

One of my favorite kingdom names is "Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, of Rhodes and of Malta".

Doesn't hold a candle to the "Thunder Dragon Kingdom."

Ruined Library does frustrate me, just like when people make a mess of our shelf displays.

Some people are still playing with more than 2 players.

Hey, you're back! How was . . . where were you?

So we have to tie every game?

The proper term is "rejoice in your shared victory."

I play IRL usually once a week. (Sunday night, with my wife, after the kids have gone to bed.) I've never played online.
