B1-3 vs B1-6 2-4 Jdaki wins
I actually think I personally would have gone for the engine here. I would have built up more, gotten, I don't know, maybe five goons in play with more buys, and gotten more points. I think if he hadn't started getting points sooner he could have won. The one thing against it is no trashing. And no village besides University. So... let me try to do the math, if you have five goons, one potion, one silver, 10 start cards you get to 17. Let's say you do your mega turn with tactician, then you start with 10 cards and 2 actions. So you need another 3 universities to get to 5 actions. But then you have 10 more cards to draw. Additing one smithy and one university makes you effectively draw one more card, so you need 10 of both. That makes 13 universities, 10 smithies, 5 goons and a tactician... to draw your whole deck. That's obviously impossible, so you have to go for smaller turns with just two or three goons. But then you can't make points with them because that would junk your deck. So... no, I don't think an engine is strong enough here.
Gardens has a lot going for it, with the Squires and also Death Cart.
On the other hand, that's not like unbeatable. The engine has weak draw... the only draw is Mercenary. But with good trashing, you can be throning Treasuries and Merchant Ships, which is pretty good.
I don't know for sure, but I'd probably bet on the engine.
Playing against strong players is a good way to learn, so it's possible these 3723 pts players with their 4000+ games are trying to learn.This. One thousand times this.
The best way to learn is to watch better players do their magic. Be that through videos, articles, or playing against them, it doesn't matter. If you mind playing against lower rated players then that's fine, just don't play with them. But keep in mind that it is the best way to get better at the game.
I think it's... pathetic, in a way. It's like saying: "I'm actually better than other players at my rating, I've just been unlucky." that's something a lot of people want to believe, especially if they're unhappy with their current rating.
also, they could see their rating being more likely to go up when playing vs high ranked opponents. i generally feel like, if your only goal was to get your rating up, you should choose opponents that are as high ranked as possible. you're obviously less likely to win, but i feel like goko factors rating differences too much. and even if that isn't correct, some people will think it is.
either way, it makes you look kind of bad, but it's still legit.
That was my thought as well. I think it would be too easy to snipe gardens, leaving the Squire player with no real way to buy provinces, or maybe even duchies.I would think Squire/Gardens would work pretty well. I never realized how good it was until one time I had this turn:Is two Coppers better than a Silver? Sounds like Silver would make buying Duchies easier.
Play Squire (+$1) for +2 Actions
Play Squire (+$1) for +2 Buys
Play Squire (+$1) for +2 Buys
Play Copper
Buy Gardens and four Coppers
Squire, Fortune Teller, Urchin, Village, Death Cart, Gardens, Scavenger, Throne Room, Merchant Ship, Treasury
You've probably already read this, but the link in my signature might help you out, Destierro. I use the same sleeves and to get them to fit in the box, you have to store them vertically. It requires a little bit of modifying the box to make it work, but it's a beautiful thing
Grrrr, open beta is US only. Then make a US account? This is the internet, be resourceful!
Well, you get to draw a card before you trash, and another before you trash again. also, it's net +2 cards, not three, because proccession-rats took up two spots in hand. But you draw a card from trashing rats. It increases the handsize like a lab is what I meant.
Of course it's "a lot" better. You get an extra card, an extra action, you trash a rats, and you get a $5 cost action. That's way, way better.
Processioning Rats is rarely a good idea, as it gives you two more rats, and only one 5 cost card. It's a lot better than just playing two Rats, which is already very good in some situations.
