Hello alltogether,

Has anyone got the coffeescripts run on Windows with node.js? For mee it sais always 'package coffee-script not available'. And yes: I installed coffee-script and added the paths to the PATH variable...

PS: Compiling the js files for the web gui works, but all the bots are not in the pull down menu...

Dominion Articles / Re: Synergy: Feodum and Transmute
« on: September 02, 2013, 11:19:24 am »
well, dont forget that if it is an Estate game you can also transmute them.... And if you end up with an unfortunate 4 coin hand later you can go for one or two feodum. If there is a sifter you would want it any way I guess... and never forget about scout;)

Hello Everyone,

In a recent game (It was played too poorly to be mentioned here) There was Transmute, Feodum and a Curser on board --  Since transmute turned out to be an option on this board it also worked out well with Feodum in order to get Silvers and Golds. I don't think that this is a Combo on its own, but in certain circumstances it seems a nice synergy. What do you think? Also I wonder if this could compete vanilla BM.....

Dear Ragingduckd,

I just wanted to say, that in its current form Automatch just works great. Yesterday I had consistently a match right away like 8 times in a row. Thank you so much for doing the work others are payed for.

Hello... I am not sure if I completely get how this works... Does the extension automatically make the player with more sets the host? I do not own any sets... so do I have a chance to get matched at all?

Hello,

thank you for the offer. I would be most pleased with csv (one result : one line). I wouldnt mind to have all the information in you are suggesting but the most important for me would be:

date/time; player names; result; bots/guests; #turns; quit/resign; vps;

I am not interested in goko ratings much. You could upload it to somewhere and leave the link here, because I might not be the only one interested.

Dear RagingDuckd,

Would it be possible to extract a history of all game results (no logs, but information about gamelength and maybe kingdom) into a single text file in any way (if it is not too much work). I want to have a look at the issues concerning rating systems.

regards,

Goko Dominion Online / Bug? No Spoils with Smuggler?
« on: June 26, 2013, 05:00:30 am »
Hello everyone,

It is either a bug, or the rules. However, I can't get Spoils using Smugglers on Goko. Any Ideas?

added a poll...

Ok,

regarding the contest I see two possible aims here:

- Make a contest in order to get the best possible game idea out of the community including what people have in the drawer (I can feel that many might hesitate here to contribute for different reasons)

- Make a contest which is fun to attend. This would mean, that by setting up the rules we make it very hard to come up with something already made and force people to be creative within limited time. The results might not be as good, but it might be more fun to attend.

To be honest, the first one does not seem to interesting for me at least, because probably most here have probably something lying around and would just send it in. What I want is people discussing their ideas, forming teams, competing.

What I would need for this is people who are interested to attend, people willing to be in the jury and ideas to make it a challenging task. Think of it as one of those independent video game challenges, where they develop within 48 hours or so. Depending on the resonance I will start a poll soon.

Actually, for the core idea I had a smaller group in mind. This is why I came up with the contest idea. Think about  this:

- A list of interesting constraints, which will necessarily lead to something new
- A jury made of 3 or 5 people
- 4 weeks for forum members (Also in teams if they want) to come up with original ideas, which are developed enough, that basic playtesting can be done
- A tweaked game is not required to attend, just enough to judge the potential

Once we have the winning idea we can see how we proceed. Also I would like to leave out the question who has the rights on this game at the moment, but we could say that attending ideas have to be creative common license in the end or something.

accepted ;) So, you dont think a design competition like this would be a good idea?

I am very aware, that what I am proposing is maybe not the way how the best games are made. The aim here was not to make a "Supergame". Just think of it as cooking together with friends as opposed to eating out in a 5 star restaurant. The latter is easier, costs more and has professional quality. The first is a product of you and your friends. Well, it was just an idea which sounded fun to me... I wasnt thinking about something publishable. If there is no interest in this idea then be it.

- The game must be playable over distance, be it with a special implementation or via email/skype/forum
- It must be possible to play it without computers of any kind
- The game must be possible to be played with two, and at least up to 8 players
- The game - in its basic form- should have not more rules than necessary
- It should follow the easy learn hard to master idea
Ok, those would be quite obvious, but I could think of more funny ones, which could spice it up,like:
- Everything in the game should have a triangle form
- There might me no currency or ressources of any kind
- The game should imply taking pictures
- There should be cards, but no shuffling at all

Each player gets a polaroid camera and takes two pictures of 10 different triangles.
Lay them all face down.
Play pairs

Job done

Whats my cut?
Good idea, will start to make a goko implementation of it tonight, but only if free implementations of it have to go down once i'm finished
