The last 3 days I have hit a slump so bad it has me shaking my head. I cannot figure out where my play has gone so bad. I know am newer and have a lot to learn yet but it seems I am now getting crushed. Not that rating is that important but as I hit 4200 I have been beat back down to 3700. Just trying to improve and be more competitive.

Last night I was in a league match where I missed seeing a rush win scenario at the start. It was a game with colonies and I started building towards getting them. I had hit a 9 buy early and so had a quick platinum giving me early position for money. Well I balked looking at the board seeing Feodum and Masterpiece sitting there. So when I had hit my second 9 I bought another platinum.  It wasn't til my opponent hit a big count and hammered on Masterpiece that I connected the dots of what he was going for.

Long story short thanks to my money advantage I was able to make a rush and up the ground. we split feodums but with masterpiece and my couple platinums I over ran him on the silver race. There was only two masterpieces left when the silver and feodums where gone. I feel a little lucky to win as I had never thought to go that route at the start.

Dominion General Discussion / Making poor buying decisions
« on: May 27, 2015, 10:24:20 am »
I find myself that I will over buy some cards when in the long run they are not the greatest buys. For one example I tend to way over buy villages with no reason behind it. I will end up drawing them all but not hit one terminal. So I just wonder how people learn to hone their buying process. Watching AdamH youtube video he seems very good at talking his way through a buy. The other thing he tends to do well that I have no skill in is the ability to track his deck and know when to stop drawing to not trigger the shuffle.
I tend to be if it is in my hand and I can play it I will play it.

Well I had nothing going on last night so I tried Dominion Online for the first time. Well the first game went well as I squeezed out a victory. Well after that I quickly learned I know nothing about how to read a board correctly as I lost 7 straight and most by quite a bit.  So I need to get some better ideas on how to become somewhat better before I get to frustrated.

I have been reading a lot on here but still don't have the greatest grasp of things. I enjoy the game and the type of person who learns by doing. Well hope I can learn to improve soon.

Chapel, chancellor, woodcutter, pirate ship, navigator, wharf, bazaar, festival, library, explorer. What would you do with this? I opened 5/2. I grabbed Wharf/Chapel.

Dominion General Discussion / New to the Board and Game.
« on: April 09, 2015, 11:01:20 am »
My wife and I have played a few games using the base set. We enjoy playing as it has given a chance to sit down enjoy a beer and talk with out the distraction of a t.v. We just purchased Seaside and Dark Ages. Man reasonI picked up DA right now was it was 30% off due to a slightly damaged box so I thought it was a good deal.

I have been learking here a little bit but with so much Information I am having trouble digging through it all. Just wondering if anyone could give me some good starting points to go off of to improve my game play?
