That may have been me he was waiting for as we were playing a little series.

Yes it was actually.  It's hard to get games with people unless you get together before-hand.  I do hope that WW puts up some Goko videos though.  I think I have watched pretty much all of his others.

Just thought I would post my best game of the year.  It broke my record for vp.

I kind of made a mistake with the cellars in the end, but it didn't really matter!

I just got in one of his games yesterday! His game said 5k+ and I joined it. Only then did I see it was WW.  However, he kicked me out because he was waiting for someone else :'(  I hope I can play you someday WW.

Goko Dominion Online / Re: Why do people demand 4000+/5000+?

Back to the main topic, I think newbies are better off not playing the bots. Especially if you are okay playing with the base set, it can be very enjoyable playing with new players. (Or you can just buy the cards and host games with new players)  The best thing about it is you don't lose your ranking if you lose! When I started climbing the ladder, I never set restrictions, and in about 15 games I was in close to 5000.  IMO that is when you should start to set restrictions.  No one wants to loose a game to a noob and drop 500 points.

One time, I decided to see what would happen if I refreshed the page while playing a bot.  The result was dropping from #10 on the casual leaderboard to #80 something. That is an extreme case against a low ranked opponent.

Wow.  I didn't notice that when I read through it.  I have the same typo. :o

I don't think lighthouses would be worth it with FG on the board since it doesn't stop curses. Unless your opponent goes heavy on the Thieves or something.

There's too many to choose from! The more I play with Squire (a sometimes village) the more I love it. But right now, my favorites are Border Village and Hamlet.

Hey guys.  Sorry, I was at a conference all weekend.  But thanks for the input.  I believe the cantrip was Spy which doesn't make much of a difference.  I'm glad to see that most of my assumptions were correct.

What are your thoughts if there were KC, +buy, +actions, and one cantrip, but no other draw.  How often would BM win out?

Dominion General Discussion / Beating KC
« on: April 18, 2013, 07:55:22 am »
Just wanted to take a moment to say that I have gone GOKO!  I just spent $20 and got DA, half of Seaside, half of Prosperity, and half of Hinterlands. This unlocked a bunch of adventures as well as the Colonies, Platinum, and Shelters.

Anyway, I played a game on Goko yesterday with pertty much no draw except a cantrip or two. The top cards in the Kingdom were KC, Expand, Hoard, Haggler, and Festival.  So I says to myself "I'm gonna try to beat KC!" I went for Haggler/BM picking up a few Festivals and Expands along the way, and beat him. His KC was able to connect a few times and that got me to thinking. A KCed Festival or Haggler generates $6. If that KC had been a Gold you would have $5 after playing the same hand. Weighing the times when KC connects with nothing, I believe that in this case, Gold was as good or better than KC.  I ended up winning the province split 5/3 and got a couple duchies in the meantime.

So what do you guys think? Do you think it was the right move? Do you have any other examples of beating KC? Any input would be appreciated.

KC+Scavenger to put a KC, Scavenger and Platinum on top of your deck every turn.
Scavenger cannot put cards from play on your deck. So not very reliable if you don't have a bunch of each card. Unless you get lucky ;)

No. He is saying that in a simple electric motor, an armature rotating back and forth periodically under DC current will always stop itself due to friction unless it is in a frictionless system which is virtually impossible in the world as we know it.  Unless they find another world free of friction.......

A few weeks ago, I was playing IRL, and my opponent revealed a hand of five curses. That feels so good!

Wow I didn't realize that Goko had improved that much. Cool to see a former critic promoting them now.

I have not played Innovation either, but I've looked through the rules and it seems pretty straightforward. I would love to see some videos on it.

So for three days in a row I've been trying goko and the games just keep freezing.  I feel bad for the Dominion player base.  I don't know how much RGG paid GOKO to design their system but it's too much.

Using which browser? I had heaps of problems when using Safari. Now I'm using Chrome and clearing my browser history periodically and - basically having nil problems with freezing or lag (will maybe a tiny bit of lag, but not so much as to be a real problem, and zero freezing).
No way! Did cactus just say something semi-positive about Goko?

It's probably worth the $40 or whatever to enjoy unlimited online Dominion against people and bots.
For those of you who are curious, I just checked the Goko store, and it is currently $45 to buy every expansion in one package.

My thought is: buy one Trader to turn the Estates into Silver and ditch Copper.  This should get you to Gold fairly quickly with only 6 Silvers in your deck.  By the time that the opponent has Lookout-ed his junk cards and bought enough Wishing Wells to draw his Goons regularly, you could have at least 3 Provinces with any amount of luck.  If he does manage to play the Goons every turn, the Silvers and Golds should get you Duchies pretty regularly.

Then again, the Goons could offset the VP by getting a ton of chips, but that isn't going to happen by playing 1 every once in a while unless the game goes long.

I admit that the Goons deck could win, but a good BM deck seems like it would have a good chance.

I tend to want to go Trader/BM and buy out the provinces while you all are buying out the copper pile and wishing for Wishing Wells.

Oh right. I forgot the first set was in 3 parts :P.  I meant to ask when the next set would be posted, or if you are planning on it.

When is theory going to put up the Q+A Part 2?  Not that it is completely necessary, but if there is a part1, there should be a part2...

Have you read much of Arthur Conan Doyle's works?  He seems to use a lot of the more interesting vocabulary in Dominion such as Counting House and Ill Gotten Gains.  If not, what do you enjoy reading?
