If your deck is good enough to afford one of them, your deck is good enough to most often have one in play when you play Tools.

Of course, ANYONE not just opponents

Tools looks very busted with stuff like King's Court or City Quarter

Those cards will rarely be in play when you play Tools

Were you guys at WBC?  I just came back from there.  Won the Dominion tournament for the second time.  151 players!

Dominion General Discussion / Would you buy Dominion Collector's Edition?
« on: February 05, 2019, 10:30:08 am »
I've been following along with the Kickstarter campaign for the Suburbia Collector's Edition (

It got me thinking about a Dominion version.  One big box with everything.  Improved art (bleeding edge instead of borders?) and production quality.  A comprehensive rulebook.  Maybe oversized landscape cards.  Suburbia is doing 20 player colors for an extra price...not sure that is a huge deal in Dominion, but you get the idea.

If Suburbia can do US$1,000,000 and counting, Dominion should do pretty well.  However the one big problem is the price point.  I'm guessing it'd have to be in the ballpark of $500.  Would you buy it?

If I have 3 cost-reducers in play and I play a Curio, can I take and play the whole pile of Curios?

Also, the art is amazing.

I think this would be more fun if the effects of holding on to Cursed Skull and having it at the end of the game weren't both negative, but rather one positive and one negative. Also the interaction with other Artifacts is unfun here I think.

You're probably right; I'll change Ossuary to give a VP bonus rather than a penalty.

Cool idea, but start player just gets 5 extra points that his opponent(s) can do nothing about?  Yes the discard hurts, but there are some decks that could probably withstand that and just keep the skull and the 5 points for the entire game.

At the risk of getting shouted down, I don't agree with those who say the printer errors are irrelevant.  The backs are clearly lighter...I can pick out the Renaissance cards from their backs 100 out of 100 times.  That's the biggest problem.  The too-light orange on the duration cards is very close to the original yellow of treasure cards also.  That's a much smaller problem but still a distraction.

I'm not about to buy 4,000 sleeves and my group is making it work.  And while this sentence belongs in feedback to RGG, well, here it is:  I'm in for north of 500 bucks on Dominion, and while I've gotten my money's worth most of the time, I don't feel like I did on this one.

That's really weird.  That's the URL of the product I ordered.  In my cart, it still shows a picture of Renaissance, but when I click on it, it goes to the base game.  It definitely was Renaissance a few days ago, no reviews, etc.  It would be real annoying to end up with the wrong thing here.

I can confirm that even though Amazon's page changed for a while, my copy of Renaissance did arrive today.

Just to close the loop on this, despite the oddness with the Amazon listing, I too received the correct game.

Unfortunately, there are printing issues.  The scroll borders on Cargo Ship, Ducat, Patron, Scepter, and Spices (but not Research, strangely) are very faded; like the printer was running low on ink or something.  I've reached out RGG already.  Here's hoping mine is just a one off and this isn't a widespread issue.

They are all like that. The layout sent to the printer was lighter for everything but Research.

So Capitalism breaks everything? I think Donald X. is trying to tell us something...

From the guy who designed 12 expansions at $44.95 MSRP each?   ;D

Capitalism...whoa!  Most interesting thing in the set.

...and then I read Fleet.  I'm also intrigued by Crop Rotation.  Should I be buying Duchies with 5 earlier?  Estates with spare buys and 2 bucks in midgame?

Just play as with Shephard I could imagine, not too mindboggling.

Shepherd wants lots of green.  Crop Rotation wants exactly one in each hand

Capitalism...whoa!  Most interesting thing in the set.

When's it going to be released? This is very late October. Will it be November till we see all the cards?

The latest info still says sometime this week.

It's showing as a new release on the RGG site, which is usually when Jay uploads the rules PDF.  However, the PDF isn't there yet.

Lackey sounds akin to Minion.

Sinister Plot sounds like an Attack-like effect

Lackeys made me think of a tamer version of Goons, perhaps just because of the pluralization.

Maybe a better place to ask this is on the ShuffleIT forum, but perhaps someone here knows:

Are all games this weekend going to have two Projects?  Meaning no Events or Landmarks?

the street date for the physical set. Which is when you'll also get to see the rest of the cards. And when is that? Well the current guess is... late October. Very late October. So late in October that it's almost not October. Man. A month away. But at least RGG has a lot of confidence in that estimate.

Damn, as of a couple days ago the RGG site had October 8 as the release date; now it says October 28

I'm still confused by Citadel + duration.  Help?

Wow!  My second game, with a little help from Star Chart and Fair, but mostly due to Recruiter, Seer, Experiment, and Bridge:

Turn 9:  gain 4 Bridges, 2 Forums, and a Seer
Turn 10:  gain 8 Forums, 6 Experiments, 2 Bridges, a Recruiter, and a Province
Turn 11:  gain 7 Provinces and 4 Duchies

Not sure Crown belongs on this list.

The +2 actions from CSM differs from what you'd get with Ducat.

Ah yes of course!

Not sure Crown belongs on this list.

Is anyone else disappointed that Silk Merchant and Silk Road don't combo much?

I think Silk Road likes the +Buy a bit, and I guess the draw helps you get through the green?

Acting Troupe | Sculptor | Recruiter
Mountain Village | Priest | Seer
Scholar | Experiment | Artist

What do I win?

DQ due to missing rules 3 and 5  ;D

Wow, the rest of turn part for Priest stacks. KC-Priest in at the beginning of a normal turn becomes "+$12. Trash your hand."
Priest combo decks are hilarious. My favorite so far is Priest-Mint (with +buy).

My first Priest game had Rats in it, but I'm still afraid of Rats so I didn't try it   :-\

Turn 9 - SamE
S plays a Fishing Village
S plays a Treasure Hunter.
    S gains 3 Silvers.
S plays a Warrior.
    S shuffles their deck.
    S draws a Silver and a Soldier.
    O discards a Warrior.
    O trashes a Warrior.
    O discards a Soldier.
    O trashes a Soldier.

Great candidate for the "Sorry my opponent" thread
