Dominion: Adventures Previews / Re: Munchkins...???

Aside from the game mechanics being, er, improvable, I do like the humour. Old Boys Club anyone? It's an actual Club! No.....? Just me then.

Fair enough. It is true that I struggled a lot to understand the rules when I first read them. And obviously having come later to both Dominion and Magic, it can't really compete with them.

Genuine question: what don't people like about munchkin? I know it's quite luck-based but I have always thought it to be ok. I haven't played it a huge bunch though.

Dominion General Discussion / Re: Tom Vasel's Top 10 (Favourite) Cards

Love how he clarifies that the $2 "isn't the reason this is my favourite card" - well, yeah.

In no order:

Baker
Count
Wharf
IGG (sorry, but I like it)
Ambassador
Junk Dealer
Scavenger

Not a "I didn't know about this cool thing" but rather a "I thought I knew something cool but didnt"

I only found out very recently that you can't Golom Treasure Map. In my defence my opponent tried the exact same thing.

*hangs head in shame*

I had a province swindled right at the end of a four player game that i was winning. I chose to replace it with another province...and then produced Trader to turn it into a silver. I then finished second.

Dominion General Discussion / Re: Yet Another Veto Thread

I personally don't understand the point of vetos. My perspective is that the very beauty of dominion is the different cards that are going to show up: the great ones,  the mediocre ones and the hated ones. To me,  to only play with cards you like is to reduce the variety of the game. Even if you really loathe a card,  it's not going to show up very much. How often do you see possession?  Once in every twenty games? Isn't there some enjoyment to be had in playing that odd game with that hated card?

Er,  mega stupid question here but what exactly are the levels and how do you know what level you are? I play on goko and keep an eye on my casual rating and pro rating,  but I never noticed levels before.

Yeah, it's definitely a minority who are jerks. But those who are particularly nice are a smaller minority.

I'm going to make an effort to be more friendly and talkative from now on. Spread the love!

This is funny, I am relatively new to Dominion, having only discovered it at Christmas, but I have yet to encounter a bad player. Although for all I know the times when my opponent had "connection trouble" they were just raging. From my experience I would say the majority of players are fairly nice so it may just be a minority who are being jerks?
