Avalanchian: Since it's a bot and I don't have to worry about it being too good, I might try KC-KC-Thief-Thief-Masq just for fun.

Oohh that does seem fun. I might give that one a try some time.

Clearly trying to 3-pile for the win without clogging the deck with endless terminals. Very clever ;)

A deck full of Rats is pretty safe against Knights too.

Yeah well, you can also buy out the Curses to defend against Possession...

Yeah I thought something like that. Filling your deck with useless cards simply stops your opponent from destroying an atrocious deck. Score...

On a different note, I was wondering about the interaction our armoured friends have with Fairgrounds. On the one hand, that's nine extra cards available to boost the Fairgrounds. On the other, the Knights are likely to trash themselves AND the fairgrounds you've been trying to boost. Is there a way of making this work, or is this simply a case of the person who wins the split getting a crazy advantage? Your thoughts?

Reminds me of a time my opponent was upset that I was unfairly hitting $5 pretty consistently while he wasn't. He had opened something like Lookout/Potion...

I never complain to an opponent about it though, because usually the following dawns on me in time: "ohhhhh... I've not bought a single silver"  :-\

Edit: added additional meme.

I thought the racoon was for bad puns. Is it just jokes in general?

It is meant for bad puns I think... probably only the "turns" one qualifies as a pun I guess. But I dunno of another meme that's better to use for jokes in general.

I imagine the bad joke eel would be a better choice. ;)

The very first time I EVER bought Rats, I only bought it just so I could pass it to the bot via Masquerade  :)

I wish I could say the same. The first time I bought rats I made exactly the same mistake the bots do. It's amazing how quickly your deck can get completely out of your control. It was the second time that I bought rats with an intention simply to masq and hope the bot screwed up as I did.

Hey, when you're.ahead on VP, why not? All it takes is ten buys and you have another Purple Pile Driver.

No such thing as that on Goko.
Really? There should be.

There should be a lot of things on Goko. I've never even used Isotropic, but I can tell that Goko needs a LOT of work. I'm still enjoying it though - when I can play...

Uh oh rrenauds's law...

After playing this game, I couldn't help but meme it. Have fun edge-casers.

Then why bother remodeling the Silver?

I've noticed the bots will almost always try and play the cards in their hand, even if it's a really bad idea. This is why Masquerading a Rats into a bot's hand can destroy their deck...

In this case, the bot's "don't end when far behind" coding seemed to stop them 3-piling, but didn't actually stop them from playing the remodel. Ouch.

With no +buy, no trashing, no attack and Hoard/Bank/Embassy on the board, BM looked good. Lord Bottington scoffs at BM though, and constructed this hilarious work of art.

Turns out the bots also enjoy Scout jokes.

Thanks for the feedback. That's pretty much what I thought, but it's always nice to get an expert opinion. So I guess it is just a slog. =P

Yup, optimal play right there.

Anyone know why the bots do that? This should probably be in the bot "strategies" thread =P

Rouge gives cash.

This is the statement that worries me the most :o

Good to have you aboard! I'm also pretty new and you sound like you're at a similar skill level to me. You learn a lot kicking around here.

You play on Goko, right? Would be cool to have a game some time. I think Outpost is considered the go-to room for F.DS, maybe catch you there?

I wasn't sure if I should be posting this here or on "Help!" but decided on here because I won the game in question and I don't think the log is helpful (VERY long game against a bot, but masochists may enjoy it). If it's in the wrong place then I am sorry.  :-[

Basically, I was just after people's opinions on this board: Great Hall, Sage (Bane), JoaT, Navigator, Noble Brigand, Scout, Spice Merchant, Spy, Young Witch, Duke, Pillage.

I opened YW/Sage and ended up losing the curse split. I couldn't see anything better than transitioning to JoaT to trash my non-treasures after the curses had gone and just going BM. NB always makes me feel BM is a bad idea though. Was it worth even bothering with YW? Did I miss something on this board? Or is it really just that slow?

I get freezing issues quite often on my laptop, but not on the PC at work.

Sounds like you need to put in some overtime then. Your boss will be very happy ;)

Simulation / Re: [COMPLETE] Simulation Challenge - Huge Hands
« on: February 09, 2013, 10:06:54 am »
The sad thing is that I almost lost because my first attempt didn't beat Big Money Ultimate.  :-[

Well we're all allowed rough drafts right?

I'd love to do this sort of thing more but:

1. I don't have any real coding experience and,
2. When I tried to use the simulator, it kept bugging out when I tried to add buy rules. Eventually it would limit how many I could add and then, after removing some, wouldn't let me add any more, causing me to start over or abandon it. =/

Looks fun though ^^

Game Reports / Re: I was Destroyed By Saboteur, and I Demand An Explanation

I've been hit by this plenty of times. Just don't underestimate opponents, and NEVER, under any circumstances, underestimate an attack, especially if it depends on some degree of luck.

Yeah I can second this. I've been brutalised by thieves and Saboteurs (after saying, "oh look a saboteur, I can ignore that") enough to realise that any attack can be powerful on the right board, especially if you can play it several times a turn.

I've decided that I like the mystery of just not knowing =P

I'm really sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, but any news on when the next installment may be uploaded? I've been enjoying reading through the list and am excited to see what's next. =)
