At least if your Bandit Camp gets trashed you might still have a Spoils or two lying around, but if your Gold is trashed you're screwed! Not to mention that the Bandit Camp can be upgraded into a Province by Graverobber during the endgame which is a huge advantage over Gold.
Exactly, this was the problem I noticed--I ended up trashing my opponent's Bandit Camps (so, he bought more) and my opponent trashed my golds (of which I bought more). I honestly don't think it would have made a big difference either way--they can both be trashed by Knights, and they can both be pulled from the trash by Graverobber.
Pros/cons for Bandit Camp: draw is more consistent than gold, spoils are temporary (could be pro or con), spoils don't get trashed by opposing knight, bandit camp is cheaper than gold, takes an extra shuffle to see the spoils once you play bandit camp (this is the main con that I didn't like), can be upgraded by graverobber into province, can't be upgraded into province by remodel
Pros/cons for Gold: get it right away to use next shuffle, permanently in deck (pro or con), can get trashed by opposing knight, can be upgraded into province by remodel but not by graverobber (I don't think I realized initially that graverobber can't upgrade gold, so I bought a remodel just to upgrade gold)
I think I agree that Bandit Camp may be slightly better since waiting an extra shuffle might not have been that big of a deal. I also wouldn't have had to buy a remodel to upgrade gold since Graverobber can upgrade Bandit Camp into Province.
