Here's why that defense isn't as worthless as you think: scum know it's true. So they have more incentive to kill me than they do other players. You are essentially doing that job for them if you lynch me. Basically, scum have certain priorities, killing me is one if them, and you shouldn't help. And if they don't kill me, if I continue to live, you will actually have better evidence that I am scum. Me not dying in the night is suspicious, for the reason that scum want to kill me.

Basically, the longer you wait to kill me, the more evidence you will have, or the question will resolve itself because I will be night killed.

A better player would have prevented the ash lynch from happening.

Why not just vote?  Why do you want to hammer?
I have great interest in lynching robz, not only because he is my strongest read, but also because he is pressing my lynch so much. putting someone at L-1 seems to be easier than hammering, so I thought it was more likely that he gets lynched if I hammer. Of course, now that I announced that, it's basically the same, because now putting him at L-1 is like hammering.

which means I can aswell just vote:Robz. This is L-1. The next vote will and should hammer.

okay, I'll stay until the next full hour, that's 20 minutes.

"I'm good at the game, don't lynch me" is a worthless defense if I've ever seen one. It doesn't tell us anything, both scum!robz and town!robz are going to use that, they have no reason not to, both want to survive.

Robz wants to lynch me for self preservation. That's not scummy, but still, don't give in.

it's L-2 I think. 3 at the last mod count, and EgorK voted for him since, makes 4. we need 6.

okay... I'm going to sleep, like, really soon. I was hoping for you to get Robz to L-1, so I can hammer (because I strongly believe that he is scum, and I'd be okay with taking the risk), but it doesn't seem to happen. Unless you put some more votes on him really quickly, or change to Jimmmm (which is the only other one I think I'd support), I'll just put my vote on Robz and go to bed.

He constantly refers to general opinion to determine who is scummy or who's not
You have to provide some examples here, becaue I really don't see how I've been doing that constantly. I've been donig it once, because I noticed that most of my wagon was considered scummy and thought it was beneficial to point it out, and I had no idea whether this is somethng new scum does a lot.

so, dunno. He hasn't done much, but he has called me scummy several times. Does that make him scummy? Not really, I have an easier time believing that a new player thinks I'm scum than someone like Robz. Aside from that... there's just not much to go on. Maybe a slight scum read, but I'm not big on lynching him.

I don't really have a scum read (or any read) on Egork. I'll reread all of his posts.

okay, so let's assume for a moment that I'll be lynched. I'm not sure if that's likely, and it would be awful for town, but let's assume anyway. I'll flip town, so you'll know that everything I write now is in our best interest.

So, I'll say that I'd give less weight to the ash wagon than to mine. Yes, ash was lynched town, but it was kind of his own fault (and robz). I really haven't done stuff like that, I didn't self vote, I didn't insult everyone else. If I die, you should look closely at everyone on my wagon. Robz, most of all. But also the guy who hammers; maybe that's everyone who gets lynched incorrectly, but I just don't buy that I am a strong lynch. The only real argument I see is that I was on the ash wagon, which is suspicious, but it's not enough. Add to that the fact that my wagon already looks scummy, and you get a strong chance that several scum is on it. Alas, I don't think a town is going to hammer me. That would just be so awful, he lynches another town, and might get lynched himself because of it.

If I don't get lynched, you don't have the same proof for my sincerity, but I still think it's logical to look at my wagon. After all, if you choose not to lynch me, it means that you think I'm town, and in that case all of that stuff still applies to some point.

And once more about the claim, that's just a stupid thing to ask. Robz unvoted ash because he didn't claim, and now he wants me to claim? Maybe because he wants to know if I'm a good nightkill? Either way, it's completely illogical for me to claim.

Well, this game exists. I'm sorry I've been so absetn, but I guess no one can claim to have been that active.

I still think silverspawn is a strong lynch, so my vote is just fine where it is. Town newbies tend to give very obvious signs they are town, silverspawn hasn't done that but has tried to make some of his mistakes into "townlsips", which really seems like he's been coached to. I also think his approach to the ash wagon is consistent with new scum.

I don't really know what to say about this. If the town slip looks like a planted town slip to you, then I can't do much about that. If I had been coached, every post that I made would probably have been talked through first. I have been making very quick, spontaneous posts throughout the entire game, so if anything only the town slip plus a few others would have been written by coaches. why would we do it like that?

and why exactly is my approach to the ash wagon consistent with new scum? also, if it is, why would i write that if I was coached?

I think there's one more thing I can use as a defense: look at my wagon.

Quote
teproc, chairs, jimmmm, EgorK, Robz888
jimmmm is scummy. Teproc is supposedly scummy, though I have a town read on him. Robz is extremely scummy, he still hasn't even aknowledged that the ash thing was his fault. chairs and EgorK are more average, but I also recall people suspecting them.

look at the people who aren't on my wagon:
scott_pilgrim: I suspected him a little bit, but only because he wasn't active. Probably average status
Witherweaver/Archetype: seems to look towny to everyone
AndrewisFTTW: most towny player around
Hydrad: don't remember exactly if he was being pressured before
and myself

so, based on the history of this thread, my wagon looks pretty scummy.

I'd prefer it if you don't lynch me, but I don't have any big defense left. Ash had a strong town read on me, and he was town, so there's that. If you want to unvote, that would be great. If I am lynched, please lynch robz next.

If this ever happens, my preference is to play full random sets.

Just because you'd be the one playing the games doesn't mean our entertainment is any less important. What if a boring board comes up? Huh? What then?
I also prefer random. It doesn't have to be full random, but I don't like designed sets in a tournament. How about something like: randomize 5 sets, let the viewers vote, play the one with most votes?

I just ask for L25+, so the waiting time is acceptable. But I understand why you dont want to do that.

well, I'd like very much to play longer series with you, if you're interested. that might partly solve your problem. I'm on vacation for one week from now on, but I'll probably spend a ton of time playing after that, and I pretty much have time all the time, so we could schedule some matches :)
I would definitely be interested in that. Actually, it could be cool if we had a thread for scheduling matches against other forum users just for fun.

I made a thread for that idea, but noone cared...

I think people didn't want it because you were suggesting someone create something formal as opposed to just a place for people to post when they are on.

yea, maybe. I didn't want to do that, because that's basically the same as the Outpost thread, which noone is using

It's not the trashing and gaining that is confusing in my mind, it's the revealing and discarding. You are revealing the same cards all the time, because the cards on top of your deck stay the same
oh, now I get it. I was assuming that you reveal 3 new ones every time, but you're right, there is no reason too.

Quote
I would suggest to change it to "Reveal the top 3 cards of your deck. Put a revealed c14 in your hand, discard the other cards. You may play a c14 from your hand. [...]"
yes, that's much better.
