King's Court -> King's Court -> Scheme -> Scheme -> Torturer

King's Court -> King's Court -> Scheme -> Scheme -> Saboteur

I am not sorry I played them. I am sorry for the unseemly gloating. I just wish you 3 hadn't resigned before I finished setting up

I can get to the logon page, but clicking either the "play without logging in" or the "google" buttons results in "Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to dominion.isotropic.org"

Always ignore certain cards, even on kingdoms that would make them awesome.

Attempt to repeat the strategy that won last time, despite one of the linchpin cards not being available,

Puzzles and Challenges / A One Hand Puzzle
« on: June 07, 2012, 03:26:49 am »
Here is a one-hand reaction puzzle. It involves the interaction of 5 cards. I realized this was interesting when I messed it up several times in one game, even after I thought I knew what I was doing.

In your hand you have:

Ghost Ship,
Secret Chamber,
Shanty Town,
House Traders,
Gold

Your opponent plays a Ghost Ship. What is the optimal sequence of reactions to stack the deck for the most cards in hand/played next turn? Assume that the next 2 cards on your deck are not action cards. What Sequence of play on your next turn?

Round #2:
Same questions, but instead of a Ghost Ship, you have a second shanty town.

Game Reports / Re: Apprentice decks: the decks that eat themselves
« on: May 29, 2012, 04:02:22 pm »
I like an Apprentice in a Double Tactician deck. You need a couple Silver and maybe a Gold to get a couple of Tacs and the payload, but then the money just clutters up the deck. An Apprentice eliminates the problem, while helping to draw that second Tac.

Game Reports / Village-JoaT-Bishop Grinder

At the start I was thinking:
Hmm...
I've got JoaT, which is a great opener, what ever I do. I could build en engine out of Village/Inn-> Wharf/Merchant Ship. I'll have to get trimmed, so I need an early Bishop or 2. If I want to do both early Bishop and JoaT opener I'll need my Villages up front. Bonus, If I play Bishop first, my Joat draw is better. Joat will top-deck silver for me, so I can open with a Village/Joat.

On turn 10, I was nicely trimmed, and ready to branch into my higher engine,

Then on Turn 11,
I managed to Bishop a silver and a gold, play Joat for a replacement silver, and buy a replacement Gold for a net +6▼.
While I could start a draw engine at any time, I realized that I could just keep doing *that* indefinitely.

I managed a shared victory with gootentag in turn 24, with minipl resigning on turn 15.

Could I have done better?

In a Colony game, I had a nice little KC-Treasury engine that was buying a platinum every turn, and a Bishop to grind last turn's platinum in to points.

One miss-click later, my accidentally KC-ed Bishop trashed the other KC and 2 Treasuries, wrecking the engine. The pile of points that it gave me was not enough to compensate.

Damn you, now that's going to be in my head for 3 days, and whenever I play a Possession game.

   (dysprog draws: 2 Border Villages, a Silver, and 2 Smithies.)

I won by every other player resigning.

The relevant cards in the kingdom were:  Golem, Haggler, Possession and Tunnel.

We all went for Possession and picked-up free Golems off of Haggler. Several times, Golems played in Possessed turns triggered Possession. We might not have played the Golems, but the chance to trigger the tunnels made it irresistible.  The crazyness peaked with BullCityFats getting Possessed on his own turn, as the Possession chain wrapped all the way around the table:
