Innovation Articles / simple strategy guide for echoes?
« on: April 01, 2013, 01:29:20 pm »
I'm just getting into echoes and there are loads of seemingly well known combos that would be nice to see listed.  Maybe even a card run down or a best/worst per age.  Point me in the right direction - it must be out there!

Dominion Isotropic / Re: So when will Isotropic return?
« on: March 07, 2013, 09:05:23 pm »
Isotropic probably will return, IMO, but in a different incarnation.

I imagine an app, that is an engine to play a game of your own creation, with mechanics that can be adjusted (to play like Dominion or otherwise) would be sellable.  The parameters for any game you create could be stored and shared by way of say, a torrent.

Would there be a leader board?  Maybe.
Would it be something that works over the net?  Yes.
Could it be used locally, between friends?  I sure hope so - that would be my own implementation.

Everything has its purpose.  Isotropic shows us, as a community, how card games can be played.

Dominion General Discussion / Re: d/l of isotropic to run locally?

Quote from: Isotropic FAQ
Can I have the source? I just want to run a server for my friends.

No.
  • It would violate the spirit of my agreement with Donald X. that let me run the server in the first place.
  • The Dominion content (card text, etc.) isn't mine to give away.
  • The current source code contains cards from the unreleased Guilds expansion.

I hadn't seen this little FAQ, until now.  So, I'll just have to enlist a minion to write the same code over again?  What a stupid waste of time.  The wheel was built, put it on a torrent for crying out loud.

To avoid violating the ethical agreement, there's no need to provide Dominion card content, just the bare bones and an interface to add cards.  The user can invent a game, copy a game with some effort or whatever.

Dominion General Discussion / d/l of isotropic to run locally?
« on: March 07, 2013, 10:13:45 am »
I'd like to know if it is possible to download the "isotropic" code, so I can run it locally.  Basically, if I'm playing with friends or my kids, we prefer tapping buttons to shuffling decks.

This is a straightforward question - I don't want to get "legality" answers, I just want the download (and would be willing to pay a nominal price).

I would also suggest two improvements:
- an engine to add new cards of your own creation
- an "undo" feature during play

Thanks, plank
