I pre-ordered this set through my favorite online vendor.
The idea being that I don't have to slog through post after post here about a set of cards I don't have yet. I knew I wouldn't be at origins. But there is no information at all about when it's going to be released, aside for a possible 21st as listed on Amazon.
Rio Grande won't even update their page with the info.
I'm really cheesed off right now, when is it 'officially' going to release? And why can't they put that date on their webpage?
-
This is how it is with every Dominion expansion. Rio Grande refuses to commit to a date until a week beforehand. Even then, they don't advertise it.
And yeah, it's incredibly infuriating.

Even though RGG has not posted an official date, I received the following email from Goko a couple of days ago:
Just Released - Dominion Guilds!
Play Guilds now at Goko
Goko friends! We're pleased to announce that Guilds, the upcoming Dominion expansion that will hit stores June 21, is available online now in the Goko store. Be one of the first to see the Butcher, the Baker and the Candlestick Maker.
With the release of Guilds, Goko now has all Dominion expansions available for online play against our computer AI's or in multiplayer mode against other players for ranking. If you haven't been back in a while, we've steadily been making improvements and would like to hear from you! :)
Thanks for playing!
The Goko Team
p.s., The Guilds expansion is ready now. Look for the Guilds Adventures coming soon. As always, if you need help feel free to contact us directly at support@goko.com . We couldn't do this without you!

Over at BGG someone posted that Boards & Bits was shipping on Wednesday (tomorrow).
EDIT: Boards & Bits now has it listed as In Stock.
SECOND EDIT: My order is prepped for shipping.
-
Well, I contacted the place I bought it from. I'm going to St. Louis that day anyway, so they are changing the shipping mode and refunding the shipping cost so I can pick it up that day myself.
-
The thing is, really, no one knows for sure when stores will have a game until the games show up. Shipping is so variable.

And yet, for books, music, movies, and video games, exact release dates are known months in advance.
-
Isn't the way to get known-in-advance release days is for the stores to obtain the product ahead of time, and then simply not let people have them until the designated day/time?

That's because those things are sold in huge box stores to magnitudes larger audiences. Games are usually sold in local games stores to (unfortunately) much smaller audiences. We just don't have the sway that other goods do.
-
For what it's worth, I now have my copy. It's sleeved and ready to play.

Yes, this is exactly how it works.

To elaborate even further: we're talking factors of 100 difference or more here. The latest [insert shitty pop star here] album is all but guaranteed to sell a million copies in the first couple of weeks, though nowadays many of those sales will be on iTunes. The last Harry Potter book had something like 10 million copies in it first printing. I would be highly, highly surprised if RGG printed more than 50 thousand copies of Guilds; probably less. This, for one of their most hotly anticipated games. Less well known games have print runs in the thousands.
Your local Best Buy might have 50 copies of Shitty Zombie Destroyer 2013, and will sell most of them. Your local game store might have five to ten copies of Guilds, if they're a really big game store in a large market, and still might not sell all of them.
Economies of scale don't work for niche markets. And despite a formidable online presence and a handful of million sellers, eurogames remain a niche market in the US.

I picked it up at a local game store. If there was supposed to be a street date, they weren't notified.

I called my local game store and they don't have it yet and have no idea when they are getting it. :(
-
Uncle's Games in Redmond, Washington got 15 copies in today. They only had two preorders, and I bought one before they even had a price tag on it.
-
I bought mine on Amazon yesterday, said it will ship in several days...

Asked my local comic book store to order it in, and now anxiously awaiting an email... I can't believe it wasn't on amazon prime until like Thursday, and then on and off it after that...

Mine is on Goko.
And after getting it for $4, who on Earth would want to spend $30 on it? You already paid for Guilds once, RGG should really just give you the cards for free now.

Mine is in Ohio.

Mine is in the base set.

That's right!
Actually, it's because I simply no longer play physical Dominion... and even at that the only physical copies I'm missing are DA and Guilds. I think my Dominion cards have come out once in the last twelve months. Right now I don't actually want the physical cards.

Really? I thought they were releasing it worldwide at the same time? At the latest they'll have to have it out at Essen, though that is a while still. :(

There was some bad blood between Rio Grande Games and Hans Im Glück, who sell the game in germany. We have no release date nor any other sign that Guilds is coming here, at all. Maybe it's coming with another publisher, but i there's nothing about that, either...

So it will be sold here, and by another publisher... Thank you.
