It's been a long time I'm on this forum now, it's time for my introduction.
I think I'm the youngest forum member. I am a 17 years old student from Belgium. My english is not perfect, I'm still learning the language.
I am passionate about boardgames, and particularly Dominion. What makes dominion so much different from the other games is the infinity of kingdom possibilities, each game is a rediscovery. It's also a very creative game and I really like that. Otherwise, I love Mafia/Werewolf, and some other games like Dixit, Troyes, Keyflower or Feld's games.
I'm also an origami fan and a pianist...
And as you probably know it, I'm a cornucopia-lover.

Hi!

You aren't the youngest. Mail-mi is 14, I believe.

Ergh! I was going to say me and mail-mi are younger than him... But you beat me to it with mail-mi...
-
...and I thought I was the youngest... :P

I'm 16, are you younger?

Oops, I just said "am I younger"... Oh well, edited now.

15! So, yep!

Woah why did I always think you were so much older??

No idea. Likewise, I've always thought sudgy was much older.

Huh. Well thank you. I think.

I usually imagine people online (unless they're acting like 12 year olds or explicitly say they're younger) as being 20+.
-
My method for dealing with xkcd 386 situations (http://xkcd.com/386/) is to remind myself that the person in question is probably too young to remember 9/11. That always puts things in perspective for me.

Yep, and I'm very surprised to see I'm not the only -20 here. I thought Dominion interested only the 20-30 informaticians, and people like us were not interested in boardgames because there are video games. I'm glad to see I was wrong !

Btw, my english is much much better since I started to read and post in this forum, I think I have learned more here than in school, even if the vocabulary here is a little bit restricted ^^

Now that I know you are a non-native English speaker, I HAVE to ask...is the misspelling of "broccoli" intentional?
-
You probably learned most of your English from this (http://forum.dominionstrategy.com/index.php?topic=8287.0) thread...

Lol, does "broccoli" sound like an english based word for you? For reference, it's brokkoli in finnish.. (Well, that or parsakaali, but I think more people use brokkoli).

English based word? What do you mean? I don't know about any of those! It seems like we borrow almost everything. :P
But I had no idea broccoli was borrowed and I'd never given a thought to it either. The more you know...

First English word you learn here is "depends".

Never heard brokkoli before, it's always parsakaali in Savonia.

No wonder, learning languages at school is very ineffective. The best way of becoming better at speaking a language is speaking that language, that's how little children do it and they become pretty good very soon that way.
First English word you learn here is "depends".
That depends.
-
I am a youngster as well (15).
On language classes: I have taken three years of Spanish, and I still feel like if I was sent to Spain, I would sound like a total idiot. Even if I didn't have an accent. So I agree that speaking practice is very important and that language classes in high school are poor.
Also, they need to accelerate the language classes. I think we only learned like 300 words this year. Couldn't that number be like, 1000?
And if they taught mnemonics in school, (which they should) 5000+?
Although I would not want to use mnemonics to learn a language; it would inhibit one's speaking ability because of that extra millisecond required to recall a word.
-
I've heard that speaking and listening/reading both help in learning a language.
One interesting idea I've heard is that in the classroom you aren't allowed to speak English. That forces talking/listening.
-

This is incorrect.
The best way to learn a language is to date someone who only speaks that language.
-
Yes, the mispelling is intentionnal.

I'm not sure this is the best way to improve my english. ^^

That's the same thing, you just have extra motivation.

Ha everyone!
I'm 13. ;)
I actually assumed that Archetype was much older, probably because of Count in his avatar.
I knew mali-mi was <20 already, kind of inferred, plus he once said he couldn't play because he was doing homework.

No, I'm a drunk 7 year old who wants to look cool.

But seriously I thought you were much older. Strange.

Vice versa to you. The only person here I knew was young before was mali-mi.
I guess we all assume some 25-35 age unless there are clues otherwise (at least I do)

I like that you used an image of Richard in a response regarding age.
