When I press "done" on the "discard deck" option, I then don't get/have to look through my discard to topdeck a card. Is that right?

Is it possible you had no discard?
It was working fine for me in the game I just played (i.e. you can put smth on top even if you don't put your deck into discard)

If I understand your question correctly, then you have the same mis-perception I did. First, you choose whether or not to discard your deck. Second, irrespective of the choice made, you select a card from your discard to place atop your deck. The second bit is not dependant on the first bit.

That's what I expected to happen, but the 2nd bit didn't happen, because in hindsight my discard pile was empty.
