Goko stated that they plan to make Guilds available immediately after the physical release.
YAY.
https://getsatisfaction.com/goko/topics/guilds-1mh3vp
-
That is awesome :) So looking forward to this. I'm going to play a whole bunch of Guilds-only games thanks to Nutki's kingdom generator. It will be my first weeks on Goko all over again, when I played with Base+DA only and learned so much by figuring out the DA cards for myself.
Is there a known date set for the physical edition?
-
While this is encouraging, two words in Watno's post need accentuation:
1. "plan"
2. "Goko"
-
One wonders why Goko doesn't leak the cards concurrently with Donald X.'s previews.
EDIT: It would be quite nice if they leaked them as being free to play and let them be free for a fixed amount of time to attract players.

I was also thinking that this would be awesome.

I hope they get the UI implementation right, so much can go wrong with it...

with 13 cards guild only could get boring fast :) and then the flavour of the new extension is gone. I´d rather play all random and shout for joy everytime a guilds cards shows up. =)
-
I will program in all of the suggested Guilds kingdoms first and play those. Then I'll use Nutki's extension to randomize sets with 4 or 5 Guilds cards each.
-
Goko is "under maintenance" right now, which is probably because of Guilds.
I guess that's a good thing, right?
EDIT: Apparently Goko is down, not "under maintenance" and will be up in a few minutes.
-
I look forward to someone doing the math to figure out the actual "cheapest" way to buy all the cards once Guilds is added to the mix.

It's possible that the reason the costs are so out of whack right now is that some of the existing packs are supposed to include Guilds.
-
To this news, I say yes! Yes! Yes!

-
there are two reasons this is quite improbable:
1) guilds would need to cost more than a big expansion to make up for the difference.
2) why wouldn't they tell us?
also I see two possible reasons why they don't make the previews available:
1) RGG won't allow them because they fear goko will mess up and spoil everything.
2) they weren't aware of the previews and don't understand how they work.
@SCSN: it will be out on 12th June at the latest.
-
isnt a theme of guilds spending more for a card then its costs.
so there will be a way to spend more then 40 Gokoins on guilds and get a free promo for every 10 we spended more.
so the costs are 40+

I'm down for that.

So, what constitutes a physical release? Will Guilds be on Goko after it comes out at Origins on Wednesday, or will we have to wait until all stores have it in late June?
-
Soooooo, when do people think we'll see Guilds on Goko, now that the game has been released at Origins?
-
tomorrow! I'm an optimist.
-
Friday 21st.
I don't think they release during Origins. This is the weekend where the physical cards get the center stage. When the cards hit the shelves in the store, then goko will release
That's just a guess. No actual information involved
-
Friday 21st.
I don't think they release during Origins.
You can certainly purchase it at Origins. I think that ought to constitute "release."
-
So i's not there yet.
I guess Goko has a different definition of "release" than normal people, similar to their definition of "discount".
-

To be fair, I'm OK with "immediately" not actually meaning "two hours." A day or two seems reasonable.
-
Well, I agree that it's acceptable, but not good.
It's not like they couldn't have known about the release beforehand.

Well, I certainly can't go on amazon and buy it yet, so obviously it's not released yet? Dunno, it's debatable. RGG is the one to determine whether selling it to people at Origins is a release or just a pre-release teaser.
-
According to http://riograndegames.com/Game/1265-Dominion-Guilds , the status of guilds is " Status: Will be Released".
-
Guilds being on Goko might have nothing to do with Goko. RGG might have told them they had to wait until the game started showing up at local game stores.
-
jqs said that goko will be releasing Guilds tonight.
-
YAY! Sucks to be European though :(

Awesome!!!!!

YAY! Sucks to be European though :(
Indeed. Also, I believe Goko is West Coast of the US, so "tonight" there could be as late as "time to wake up" in Europe.

Heck, it could be as late as midway through tomorrow in Europe.

Eh, if they want to claim "tonight" they need it up by midnight, which is 0700 GMT. I guess in Eastern Europe that's as late as 0900/midmorning.

Really? 0038 doesn't qualify as 'tonight' to you? Sure does for me.

Sure, but us night owls are outnumbered quite a bit by people who routinely wake up at 0600. People who do that are everything that's wrong with society, but hey, tyranny of the majority.

I actually routinely wake up at 0600, but my general point was that most people think of the time until morning as being a part of the previous night, and morning for most people doesn't start until 5 or later, and if 0400 (Pacific) is part of tonight, voila, you have midday even in Greenwich.
-
Usually Goko has maitenance around 10:30 CEST.... so about 11 hours remaining.
-
I don't think its agood idea to stay up that long.
-
I thought they usually did maintenance around 10:00 PM Central Time. I guess I shouldn't get my hopes up.
-
Oh Yay i have some spare hours tomorrow morning.
Hope it will be there by then.
-

I think yed must have misread. I'm banking on sometime within the next 40 minutes.
-
I usually think of midnight as the next day, but I usually stay up that late.
-
It's officially tomorrow here. I'm not staying up for three hours to see if they get it up before tomorrow there.
EDIT: Lord Humanton says it should be up around midnight Pacific time. I'll check it out in the morning.
-
Looking forward to hearing the price, and the unofficial f.ds way to getting all sets for the cheapest amount.
-
Someone from Goko just posted in the Counting House chat (and possibly elsewhere.)
"John Q: Hi everyone… we'll be starting our maintenance window at 11:30pm pacific (in about 15 minutes) in order to release Guilds… should be down for about 30 minutes."

Also saw this in Council Room I think - great news.
-
Maintenance just started for those of us who are night owls or are waking up in Europe.

How much?
-
40 Play Money
-
And there's also an Ultrapack for 450 coins containing everything.
-
And there's also an Ultrapack for 450 coins containing everything.
Is that the best deal, real money wise?
-
It's better than buying everything on it's own, didn't check wether there are other deals.
-
The current options available on Goko:
Ultra pack (450) with everything.
Super pack 1 (200) comprising Intrigue (70), Seaside (70) and Prosperity (70).
Super pack 2 (140) comprising Alchemy (40), Cornucopia (40) and Hinterlands (70).
Dark Ages (110)
Guilds (40)
So all the bundles are genuine discounts and the cheapest way to get all the cards is the Ultra pack. You can buy the 450 Gokoins for $45: it seems that as the same time as rationalising the Gokoin prices they've also reduced the bulk discount for buying Gokoins, so they now cost a flat 10 cents each.

I found the first bug! Taxman lets you gain Action cards.
-
But you're not the first to find it^^
-
How do the bots handle the new mechanics?
-
Cards are awesome. I played a game with Stonecutter, Scrying Pool, Cultist, Apothecary, KC, and Grand Market. Cultist was a trap, and holy crap is Stonecutter amazing. You can use Apothecary, play your coppers and with $8 get two Grand Markets. Stonecutter is the insane engine card we thought it was.
-
I also played a Vineyards game with Merchant Guild and Candlestick Maker. Coin tokens were pretty awesome there.
-
wohoooo!!!
-
How do the bots handle the new mechanics?
Well, I may not know how to play the Guilds cards, but Lord Bottington sure does. I'm getting my ass kicked again...and again...and again. I have yet to win a game. It's pretty maddening, actually. Glad I switched to unrated games after my first one.
EDIT: Finally won one. I think judicious use of Butcher to turn Curses into Coppers helped a lot. I think it's the overpay cards that are killing me, especially Stonemason. The bots can just gain a crapton of VP all at once with it. I did get a $9 Doctor that trashed 6 cards in one game, though. That was awesome even though I later lost through terrible play.
EDIT: OK, finally getting the hang of it. Haven't lost one in a few games.
-
Soothsayer is a lot stronger than I thought it would be.
These overpay cards really add a lot of tactical decisions to the game. Coin tokens are fun.
-

Why butcher something at all then?
Agree there's lots of stuff you can do in here.
-
Guilds is HARD man. I'm playing with only Guilds cards against Conqueror Bot and I'm getting killed by the bot's simplistic Masterpiece/Advisor BM. The bot simply overpays like crazy for Masterpiece to flood his deck with silvers and then goes BM with Advisor.
Doctor is not easy to use unless you're great at deck tracking. I don't know how many useless Doctors I've played trying to trash Estates to no use. This card is far better for trashing coppers than Estates (obviously).
-
Soothsayer is goooood!
Merchant Guild seems weak for a $5 card.
Candlestick Maker is a very useful cheapo card.
-
How do the bots handle the new mechanics?
Shittily. The bot opened Stonemason/CM/CM on a Baker/Soothsayer board. I opened CM/Soothsayer, used my coin tokens to round out Province purchases, and trod the bot into the ground.
EDIT: However, I will say that the Coin token and overpay mechanics are implemented quite well, which is what matters. Kudos, Goko.

Yes, I'm definitely impressed (and a little surprised) all around.

They're learning...
-
Yay, it worked quite a lot better than expected. I'm not fully content with how overpaying/coin tokens work, it's possible that you need to click a lot. Then again, I'm not sure there is a better way.

It's better to click a button a couple of times than to enter a number with your keypad, I think so at least.
Or maybe another button with "spend all coins".
In any case, Goko definitely needs an "Undo".
-
I was thinking maybe a popup:
How much do you want to overspend:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 (Next page) All
I don't think undo is agood idea: It will be confusing if you can undo some things and can't undo others.
-
I'm finding that when to use your saved up coins, is not an easy decision. This is a high skill set indeed.
-

I'm perplexed by your question. You still net 2 Coin tokens when you Butcher a Curse into a Copper. Beats losing 1 to turn a Curse into a Silver.
-
Ah sorry, i thought you had said coppers into coppers.
-
They appear to have changed the Name a Card/Show All Cards mechanic, so it has the cards on the table at the beginning (was a problem with Ruins, Shelters, etc.) before. Great!!
-
You mean you didn't enjoy scrolling through 150 cards to name your Young Yak?
I agree, such an improvement.
-

Suddenly I am thoroughly disappointed there is no Dominion card called Young Yak.
-
I think overpay and "use a coin token" could be improved if they had a 10x version next to the regular button. I had a pretty big Merchant Guild turn in one game and ended up hitting the "use a coin token" button 40 times on my next turn[/firstworldproblems].
-
Coins are interesting and skill testing. I am surprised at how many times I end up saving coins.

Hear that, Donald?
We want Dominion: Wild Kingdom!

So far, I have to say I'm enjoying the coin tokens a lot more than I thought I would. It's as if they're the missing thing in Dominion I always wanted but never realized it.

Well just think how much worse it would be IRL, like paying for groceries with pennies.
Actually does anyone know if the set comes with $5 or $10 tokens?
-
I found the first bug! Taxman lets you gain Action cards.
I found that too right away. I tried telling my apponent sangatsu but he never replied. I was good and didn't break the rule, cause turning coppers into schemes would have been sick. Btw Stealth, I saw that you stayed up til guilds came out just like I did. Diehards, that's what we are! ;)

Based on the rulebook, I think it does not.
-
[confessionbear]I just use all the tokens interchangeably, using the context to distinguish what they mean[/confessionbear]
(on a pile is trade route or embargo), or depending on which mat they are on thats what kind of token they are... Mostly applies for subbing other tokens to use as VP counters.
-
Fun things to do in Guilds: Finishing the game by butchering a Province into a Province and then buying the last Duchy with the coins you've got from butchering. :-)
-
The fun thing about Butcher is that you can still play it for the Coins even if you don't want to trash anything. Another "one-up" over Remodel.
So...
Remodel - $4 - forced trash, up to $2 more
Butcher - $5 - free trash up to the number of coins more (at least $2)
Expand - $7 - forced trash, up to $3 more
Is it me or does Expand seem even more overpriced now?
If you use Butcher as a $1 more the first time, you get an Expand for the next round.
And if you just trash for the same card, you can trash for $4 more the next time around, that's just crazy!
I'm glad Butcher is only costed $5, but now that I start comparing it to Expand, it wouldn't have been that far fetched to make it cost $6.
-

Or to go back in time and make Expand cost $6. I don't think it would be overpowered there.

Eh. I love how Rebuild is essentially just what we all wanted to use Expand for in the first place, except better.

Rebuild and Butcher exist, therefore Expand sucks.

I did that one time too, I didn't want to trash anything, so I just played it for the coins.

In an engine deck with any sort of draw (which is almost all the time), I agree with you.
-
Warehouse and Inn, which let you discard after drawing, are great with Menagerie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGgo3D5qqtw
