Mafia Rules! (blantantly stolen from nearly everyone, changes in lime green).

Game Rules:

General Gameplay and Etiquette:

1. You may not quote private Moderator-supplied information (either real or fabricated) of any kind.  Paraphrasing (for role claims, etc.) is acceptable.
2. There is to be NO personal communication outside of the forum postings unless your role PM specifically allows it.  Mafia members may communicate at night and during the confirmation stage.
3. If you have a role with a Night action your choices are due to me by the posted deadline (generally 48 hours from Night start during the first few Nights; later Nights may have shorter deadlines).  If I do not receive your choice via PM by the posted deadline you will forfeit your actions.  In case of multiple submissions, the last valid one before the deadline will be used.
4. Roles with Night actions will not may be able to submit an action on Night 0 (i.e. during the confirmation stage). If you have a role that can be used on N0, please send me your night action along with your confirmation.
5. Any player with a Night action may instead submit a “No Action” PM to let the Mod know that you do not want to perform your expected action that Night phase.
6. As a general rule you should aim for one post every 48 hours, minimum, to keep the game moving.

Voting, Deadlines, and Player Death:

1. A simple majority (rounded up) of all living members must agree on one person for a lynch to occur prior to deadline.
2. Once you have reached a simple majority no further unvoting will change someone’s fate.  Further votes will also be ignored.
3. Once a player is lynched the game enters twilight until I post a death scene; all players including the one who was lynched may continue to post during twilight.
4. Please submit votes as: Vote: PlayerName. Votes will NOT be counted if they are not bold or do not follow this syntax!  Obvious abbreviations or nicknames will be counted so long as they are unambiguous.
5. Please submit vote revocations as either Unvote: PlayerName or Unvote. Unvotes are not necessary before changing votes.
6. You may not Vote: No Lynch - a simple majority of these vote types are required to send the game to Night phase without a lynch.
7. Once you are killed (either via lynch or night kill) you may no longer post. This means that you do not even get a “Bah” post. The dead in this game are silent. This is heavily enforced in this game. As well as players who are not player not being allowed to post either.
8. Do not edit or delete posts.  We don't want some players having more information than others.  If you want to clarify posts, feel free to double post.
9.This game will have 10-day deadlines


Miscellaneous/Mechanics:

1. Bold, lime green text is reserved for the Mod.  No invisible/small text is allowed, nor is cryptography.
2. If you have an issue/problem with the game, please PM the Mod privately.  Do not post issues/complaints in the game thread.
3. The Mod may make mistakes - please point out any mistakes gently.  Mistakes will be corrected where possible, but sometimes mistakes are made that cannot be reversed.  These will stand as final to be commiserated over after the game.
4. Please bold all requests to the Mod so that they don’t get missed.
5. Prods of missing players will be issued automatically after 72 hours of no activity or upon request after 48 hours of no activity. Prods will only be given on request.  A prodded player has 48 hours to respond or risks replacement.  A player who has been prodded 3 times is subject to replacement without further notice.
6. Rule violations will be dealt with according to their severity, up to and including a Modkill.
7. If you anticipate being unavailable for more than a 48-hour period please post a notice to that effect in the thread.  Treat this game as a commitment.  Be considerate – don’t leave us hanging. This game is actually a very serious BM game. So please, post.

Please remember that this is a game and your main objective is to have fun! Be considerate of each other, don’t get personal, and enjoy the game.



Rules Specific to this Game!


1. This is a BM game, so some pretty crazy things are guaranteed to happen!
2. Anything said after a PINL will not be a lie. It might otherwise be a lie. Deadlines are always PINL Vote counts are not.
3. Dead players cannot post in-thread. Dead players can also not post in any quicktopics, other than the dead player QT.
4. Please treat this as a real game.
5. There may be Millers (http://wiki.mafiascum.net/index.php?title=Miller), Cults (http://wiki.mafiascum.net/index.php?title=Cult), Alignment Switching, Redirectors (http://wiki.mafiascum.net/index.php?title=Redirector), and/or Bus Drivers (http://wiki.mafiascum.net/index.php?title=Bus_Driver)
6. There will not be any Death Millers what-so-ever. That means that when some one is killed, the alignment of that player will be their actual alignment at the time of their death.
7. No post restrictions of any kind.
8. The majority of these roles are made up by me.
9. Flavor may or may not be random, depends on the mood I'm in   ;)
10. Role in this game will be given regardless of alignment. That means you may be an Order-aligned Godfather or a Traitor-aligned Doctor.
11. Role PMs will be given to players in this way:

Flavor Name:
This will be your flavor name. It describes your role as well as be shown when you die.

Alignment: Your alignment as well as your win condition. This will also be shown when you die.

Description: A short, flavorful description of yourself, followed by what your power is in the game. All players are guaranteed to have a power.

TO CLARIFY, I AM NOT A MODERATOR OF F.DS IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM.  IN THE CONTEXT OF THIS GAME, I AM MODERATING THAT THE RULES ARE FOLLOWED AND HIDDEN ACTIONS ARE COMPLETED PROPERLY.

More specific rules!

There will be only 1 Traitor in this game--they will be the only mafia! Everyone else will be order aligned! However, the traitor has a certain advantage. At the start of the game and throughout the game Siege Engines (abbreviated SEs) will be added around Camelot. If the number of SEs ever hits 12 or the traitor is the last one alive, the Traitor wins. If the Traitor is killed or the number of SEs hit 0, you must still kill the traitor, but no more will ever be added. Certain PRs have the ability to remove SEs or gain additional powers from adding them.

The one known as chairs walked into the room. It was a large room, empty, lit by only one torch, and he took a seat at one of the chairs around the round table. Slowly, others filed into the room, each taking a seat at one of the chairs, until they numbered 9. Jimmmmm and Jimwithfivems, the twins, sat next to each other, and shraeye leaned back on his chair with an unreadable face. Twistedarcher and liopoil were very open and friendly with everyone, and, of course, everybody already knew the legendary Kooshie. Sudgy scurried in and sat in the nearest empty chair, only talking to one named ashersky.

Last to enter the chamber, and a grand entrance at that, was the man that had called them all there. Donald X. Vaccinario was his name, however he preferred to be called by his pseudonym, King Arthur. He took a seat at one of the only 2 empty chairs at the table. "Hm. I thought I called upon ten. Ah well, nine will--"

He was interrupted by a messenger coming in through the doors. "My master sends his sincerest apologies, King, but he was not able to come."

The King clapped him on the shoulder "That is alright boy. Have a seat." He pulled out the last empty seat, and the messenger sat in it.

The King turned toward the rest of the group to address them. "Great Sirs and Dames, I have called you here today to discuss a dire situation. Camelot has come under seige. I need all of your individual skills and talents to help us through this tough time and fight off these--"

Another messenger ran in, frantic. "Mighty King, I have dire news. Five--" He tripped over something, knocking the one torch off the wall and plunging the room into darkness. All was silent, until three bloody screams were heard. ashersky scrambled over the floor and, with the two fire-starting rocks he was always prepared with, lit the torch.

On the floor next to the table were the two messengers, dead and lying in their blood, and King Arthur with a knife in his leg and a mad look in his eye.

"No one leaves!" He shouted. "No one leaves this castle until this... this TRAITOR is found!"

More specific rules!

There will be only 1 Traitor in this game--they will be the only mafia! Everyone else will be order aligned! However, the traitor has a certain advantage. At the start of the game and throughout the game Siege Engines (abbreviated SEs) will be added around Camelot. If the number of SEs ever hits 12 or the traitor is the last one alive, the Traitor wins. If the Traitor is killed or the number of SEs hit 0, you must still kill the traitor, but no more will ever be added. Certain PRs have the ability to remove SEs or gain additional powers from adding them.

I guess it is BM, so both Jimmmmm players could have had different alignments, but man, I doubt it.

Also, that would make Jimmmmm the traitor, since it'd be okay to sub in a town for one, but not for the scum.

Controlling two votes would have helped the Traitor, too.  So I guess it's possible.

But I really doubt mail-mi gave one of two Jimmmmms the traitor role.

Actually I don't.

It's possible the fix was to only send one PM for both players.  But still.  You can't do that if one is scum, because they wouldn't know they were about to be lynched for the loss, for example.

I think the most likely scenario is both were town.

To break it down further, possibilities:


Jimmmmm/Jimwith5ms were town/town or scum/town.

I cannot see a town/scum combo, given that Voltaire took over Jimwith5ms, and if he took over scum, real Jimmmmm would just out Volt and we win.

So it's either Jimmmmm is scum or not.  Volt has to be town.

I believe the other guy was replaced because he was the other guy, not because of his role. Also, his role was changed. I literally have no idea what Volt is. Also, if the other guy was scum, I would have tried my very best to allow the game to progress as normal.

actually, I will say something, for real this time.

Each night I target a player. If that player is not the traitor, a siege engine gets removed from camelot. The target actually does something though.

Why no knight name claims?  Shouldn't we do that first, so that if two people claim the same name, then we can decide between them who the traitor is, and any dangerous information won't be let out, or at least if we role claim, we should knight claim.  The traitor could fake-claim a role, but only a knight if they're lucky.  Of course, with only 9 people, it's a bit easier, but shouldn't we do that for the chance that they will trip up?

But they're Dominion knights.  So if all of the real knights claim before the traitor, true, this doesn't work.  But then again, we'll just suspect everyone everyone who hasn't claimed, or at least give a bit of cred to those who have claimed.  The traitor doesn't want to mess up, but they also want town cred.

Because rolling is verifiably random.  I think that breaks down the game some, and I want to introduce very-likely but not necessarily random ideas.

If you think I precalculated everybody's words/characters ratio, then jeez I sure am flippin' crazy.  I'm about halfway through calculating all of these.

"But, why me?" liopoil shouted as they strung a rope around his neck.

"Because... Because..." Twistedarcher stuttered.

"BECAUSE YOUR PSEUDONYM IS A PALINDROME!" ashersky shouted as he pulled the rope tight. "There. he's dead.

"No I'm not." liopoil smirked.

"Yes you are." sudgy punched him in the face.

When they were sure he was dead, they let him down and searched him. All they found was a paper with the message from King Arthur saying "Dear Sir Michael..."

Chairs sighed. "I knew Sir Michael. He would never be the traitor.

Ashersky had a fitful sleep, filled with nightmares of Camelot under siege, being stabbed by a traitor, losing a game of Dominion. One particularly bad game had him awake suddenly, sweat soaking his nightclothes. He stood up, brushed himself off, and lit the torch with his trusty fire-starting rocks. And screamed.





Chairs was lying on the floor, dead in his blood. Kooshie, awoken by ashersky's screaming, searched his body, and found the message from King Donald Arthur, naming him, well her, "Dear Dame Josephine..." and a message in code from one "Dsell." After deciphering, they found out he was a spy on a siege engine!

Chairs a.k.a. Dame Josephine, the Order-aligned Delayed Defender has been killed by a lance in the night.

Voltaire looked out the room window. "Guys, I have bad news," he said. "There are 3 more siege engines.

Well that's no fun.

Maybe not.  It's no offense to you, or other BM mods, but with not being able to trust anything, it makes it very hard to do anything at all productive in these games.  It's all just random, and we don't even know if anything is happening.  BM is for mods and spectators, not for the players.

(Yes, I know I am in the queue for a BM game.  I am planning as much for it as my RMM games, and will have a definitely list of the Bastardry.  Basically a "no lying, open Bastardry" set up.)

So unless a useful PR claims to have found the traitor, we are seriously just random lynching until we run out of townies or hit enough siege engines.

Clearly anyone who had the ability to destroy engines didn't use it last night.

I agree with ash. The fact that we don't know if there even is a traitor, or if he's on the sign up list , is a serious hindrance.

Maybe we should assume there's no traitor and the only thing we need to do is prevent the siege rngines? After all that's a possible outcome in dhadows right? No traitor.

We should assume were all town and our only goal is to prevent the siege engines. Seems bastardly.

Confusion abounded. No one knew who the traitor was, or if there even was one. King Darthur insisted that there must be. Mysterious voices came from the ceiling. In the midst of it all, one of the mysterious voices spoke to the room. "Twistedarcher is the traitor!"

They all believed. The fools. They believed a voice from the ceiling. But, they rounded up four on Twistedarcher, and just as Sudgy was about to pull the rope, someone, or something else did. They searched for the mysterious killer, but none was to be found. But Twistedarcher was as dead as a corpse.

They searched him, and found his message from King Darther; "Dear Sir Bailey,..." but nothing else to indicate him as traitor. Well, his armor was pretty tough.

Twistedarcher, the Order-aligned 1-shot Kinfeproof has been lynched.

An explosion rocked the room. Jimmmm looked outside to see what was wrong, and saw that a siege engine lay in burning heaps. "Sweet!" he said. "Down to 6!"

NIGHT 2 START!

Voltaire was reading his favorite book, the only one he'd brought with him, when he heard a peculiar noise. He stood, moved toward it. It was dark, he could only see by the light of the half moon. Something moved in the corner of his eye. He looked quickly at it, only to see nothing but darkness. Footsteps behind him, and he whipped around. He screamed something as the lance stabbed into him.

Jimmmmm was dreaming about he and his twin, Jimwithfivems (where had he gone?) when this scream awoke him. Standing next to Kooshie, he knew the source of the noise. He tried to recall what Voltaire had said, It was either "NOOOOOO!", "Zombie!" or "Traitor!", he wasn't sure which.

But onto important matters. They found the message from King Dona... Arthur that started "Dear Dame Sylvia..." and a note with no name. It detailed plans of attack, attack on Camelot! They'd done it! They'd found the....

ashersky sighed. "I know, well knew, Dame Sylvia. That's not her handwriting. Someone else here is the traitor."

Voltaire, the Order-aligned Backstabber, has been night killed!

BUT WAIT! A man walked into the room. When he spoke, they recognized the voice. One of the voices from the ceiling. "Hello." he said. "My name is Galzria. I've been listening from up there," he pointed to the ceiling, "and I now know you could use help. I was the one invited who did not show up. One of you killed my messenger. And you will pay.

Quite honestly TA was my best guess at being a traitor based on his D1 play. But it's not like I have any real reads. We're at mylo right now, and you're an IC (else you would've hammered already).

My only thought regarding Sudgy is that maybe he's scum that, following my lead, hoped for a BM quicklynch of Kooshie (that is, that you would simply vote as well on general principle and end things). But the truth is, he could simply be town sheeping along because there's nothing really here to go on.

I'm voting Kooshi because that's where Ash was voting. Doesn't really mean anything - he didn't have any more information than the rest of us - but it's about the best I have this game.

I'd vote Sudgy instead if you wanted. His name is a mix between sludge (scum) and suds (something scum want to stay clean and hidden). That seems as good a reason as any.

The body of liopoil was arising from the pile of dead bodies. Other than his neck being a bit stretched and purple where the rope had been placed, he looked fine. "I have come to help you in your dire times of need," he said. "I promise you that I have not betrayed you. One of you is the traitor, and I have come to destroy you.

King "Arthur" smiled wickedly. "Of course! Did you actually think I was King Arthur? No, King Arthur is on a summer retreat! I have snuck into the castle, I sent you the messages, it was all me!" He took off his armor, and he looked nothing like King Arthur. In fact, he strikingly resembled the card called "Pawn" in the game of Dominion. "The siege engines were all me, and all fake. I never meant to lay siege to Camelot, I wanted the throne to myself! But, of course, I had to get all of his trusted friends out of the way first. And now it is down to you, and down to me."

"You disgust me." sudgy said. He took out his lance and stabbed that filthy traitor through the heart.

SECRET HISTORY OF THIS GAME:

I wanted a game with no scum. So, I PM'd arche and we started coming up with plans. Of course, first we had to decide how everyone was NK'd. Easy enough, everyone had an unknown Vengekill part of their role. It started out as 12 survivors, then arche mentioned the game Shadows over Camelot. I had just gotten Dark Ages, and I made the connection--Knights, Shadows over Camelot. The premise was to be that there was only 1 traitor (that didn't actually exist) and there were siege engines that the people had to defeat. There were ways to get rid of siege engines other than NA, and I'll give those eventually. When the game had 12 people, King Arthur and Sir Lancelot were incuded, as the Beloved King and Deadly Doctor. Dame Natalie and Sir Martin were both just Flavor Cops. And, of course, each Knight had something in common, and that was the Vengekill portion, King Arthur and Lancelot could not vengekill. But, the game wasn't filling up fast enough, so we scratched King Arthur and his trusty knight, and replaced the two Flavor Cops with Beloved Niece and Deadly Doctor. So yeah.

I had fun, but from the responses I got i guess you guys didn't have too much. Well, I promise none of my other games will be like this. Thanks for Playing!

Yeah. I liked the premise, but I wish you didn't do a PINL thing and just told the truth. When the mod possibly could be lying to you, it gives a much different feel to the game. I think that was the main reason people couldn't get into this.

One of the ideas I had (I think it's in the Mod QT?) was that we'd tell everyone that they'd replace the Traitor if he died. THAT would've been a hilarious game. "Are you guys sure we should kill the Traitor? Maybe he's not such a bad guy!"

But yeah, fun stuff. Thanks for letting me help you create the setup and co-mod, mail-mi!
