Spanish Inquisition
$5 Action-Attack
+ $2
Each other player chooses one: he gains a Curse card, putting it into his hand; or he puts two cards from his hand on top of his deck.
---
When this card would be put onto your discard pile, place this under your Spanish Inquisition mat instead. While there is a card under your Spanish Inquisition mat, each time you draw a card, there is a 10% of drawing from your Spanish Inquisition mat instead.

I didn't expect that.

Is this supposed to be in "Really bad card ideas"?

Is this supposed to be in "Really bad card ideas"?
It's certainly intended to be tongue-in-cheek, but it's also supposed to be an example of a mechanic that could only work online. The 10% random shtick causes it to side step the usual shuffle mechanic, and also causes it to behave differently relative to deck inspection, drawing your entire deck, and pushing through a slow Ghost Ship slog.

But there's dice IRL.

But NOBODY has ten-sided dice. Seriously. With five kids, I barely have any six-sided dice.

I wouldn't want to have to roll a d10 three times whenever I play Smithy, and another d10 per Village, etc. Plus my opponent would probably see me draw from the mat rather than my deck.

…Which is why its a fan card, and not real.

So it's OK for fan cards to be impractical? Does not compute!

But that's why it would be Goko only. It is impractical irl but doable online.
I like the concept. No comment on the main action because that's not the point. I think I'd like it more if the chance went up for every card on the mat, so you have a reason for getting more than one of the card. Also, it might be nice if you could put other cards on the mat, probably with the action. But then it might start looking like a version of nv.
-
The only issue I see is that Goko would probably wind up making the actual odds something like 0.02% and claim "When you have one card under your mat and 29 in your deck you should have a 1/3 chance of drawing the card under the mat"

I'm well aware of the overarching context of the thread, but in the context of the conversation, Morgrim seems to be making a statement about fan cards in general.

Yes, it is okay for fan cards to be impractical imo because, well, they are fan cards. They will never be real. All the cards on the "Really bad card ideas" thread, they are fan cards too, just either seriously unbalanced or downright stupid. When I said
…Which is why its a fan card, and not real.
this, I meant that because it isnt real and wont ever be real, Its okay for it to be imbalanced.

There are actually people who print their fan cards and play with them, you know.

Presumably you'd include one in the box set that provides this card, or bundle it for purchase with a promo card...

Yes, but the impractical ones?
