Title: Was this really necessary?

Go to Goko and count the lobbies. You'll be in for a big surprise. Oh, lord.

When they came back online yesterday after their 'routine maintenance' I was thinking "yes! Finally! No more quitters!" But alas, they only seem to have added two coppies of each room, as if there weren't enough empty ones already. Gotta love where their priorities lie.

Guy1: It's crowdy in here. Let's meet in Council Room Ill host it.

... Seconds later ...

Guy2: Where are you?

... Minutes later ...

Guy2: There you are. I was waiting for you.
Guy1: I meant to say: "Let's meet in Council Room I. I'll host it." You understood: "Let's meet in Council Room III. Host it." D'oh.

Yeah, this was a serious "WTF" for me last night.

My first reaction when I saw this was anger! I know that I have wanted 1 main lobby for a long time (maybe a few other to meet friends or something eg secret chamber).  One of the biggest complaints going around is the difficulty in obtaining matches.  This is problem due to the lack of auto match, and the limit of 50 people per lobby.  It seems to me that this can only make this worse.  More than that I guess I'm angry that they had time to do this (seriously WHY?) instead of setting up some sort big lobby where you can actually find matches.

Also, can we please hid games that are playing going as a default!

I wasn't sure if this was a joke at first. But apparently it isn't.

Come on Goko, really? I mean April Fool's day isn't until next Monday!

Will we ever have one main lobby? Seriously?

Exhibit number [insert ridiculously high number here] in why I'm not spending money on Goko.

Maybe they're wishfully thinking, "If we build it, they will come."

I asked about the new lobbies on GetSatisfaction the other day and John Q. replied

"We believe it's about to get very busy..."

I wonder what surprises the Goko crew has in store for us right around the corner that are going to bring in the customers in droves...

personally? guilds. as the last expansion, it is the last real option i can see that Goko has to get a sizable jump in users. it especially seems like their best time to target the crowd that is pro-dominion but still holding out on Goko. it's just my opinion, but i think that if Goko can't attract a significant increase in users with the Guilds release you might see a drastic change in the platform.

Do not seperate your player base, it's subtle but important rule in multiplayer games.  It's why you dont see more than aI dozen different gametypes in halo.  If your players cant find a game in seconds they will not play.

My guess is they will launch the Facebook app. I can see that adding a bit more traffic.

So... has anyone noticed that this just became even worse....?

They have separated the rooms not by alphabet anymore but by roman numeral...

So now if I want to jump from Council Room to Council Room II, I have to scroll all the way to the middle of the page to find it? It would be too bad if they automatically sent players to courtyard or gardens before CRoom II, but they don't! Stupid.

They just made finding a game change from hard to stupid hard. So one tell me when Goko fixes this and I'll come back. I was playing this week as a trial run to see if it was worth spending money on. And while I was leaning toward no, this has absolutely pushed me to no.

This is actually a good change though right? Now we can ignore all the IIs and IIIs.

And Guilds I guess.

like i said if players were automatically sent to the other non II IIIs rooms it would be. But right now the most active rooms are spread throughout the list. So if I is lame and nothing is happening I can either go to Gardens which has 4 players in it, but is close on the list, or go all the way down to Council Room II which is half way down the list. It isn't intuitive at all.

Yeah okay that's pretty lame. And to think dougz avoided all these problems with just a couple of lobbies and a decent matchmaking system.

They must've literally just changed this as it seems to be fixing itself. Now a ton of people are in Counting House also, the second listed room.

No, you just don't understand. Counting House has people in it because Council Room II and III are full, but they don't appear at the top of the list thanks to this brilliant design fix of grouping all the IIs and IIIs together.

Oh, my mistake. That's what I get for going out on a limb and hoping they made a sensible change.
