Well that's interesting. I'm not a WoW person, but I may have to check this out once it comes out. I can't believe it's gonna be free-to-play too.
-
I haven't ever played WoW either. My only firsthand Blizzard experience was some casual Starcraft over a decade ago. But it's hard not to recognize the industry force they are. That is why this game has me intrigued.
-
I'm not sure how I feel about this.

It seems like the "free" portion requires you to earn the cards somehow, which is likely to be quite grindy... or you can buy the cards separately. I suspect WOW players, who are accustomed to the grind, might not be too worried about the first part, and Blizz stands to make a tidy sum from the second.

This is almost certainly going to happen, but hopefully it's not too grindy.
Or, if the Forge is free to play, you could just play that. From the sounds of it, it's basically Sealed from MtG, so you don't run into the pay-to-win problem.

But, why make a digital version of a card game that doesn't have a physical card version? Why not just make a digital game?

Why indeed? Because they make money...

Or, in short: card games are fun and lucrative. Physical cards are more expensive than server costs. Thus, online trading card games.
-
If it's digital, they should come up with something more novel than cards that retains a similar feel.
Stamps. Digital collectible trading stamp game.

The problem with that idea is that it's hard to get a similar feel, e.g., this card has power level 3, attack X, etc, and do this when it comes into play, without writing all that down on a card. And at that point, you might as well put artwork on the card and play it as a card game!

I wish the beta wasn't closed. This game interests me.
