Vineyards won but after the fact opponent questioned the decision. I'm interested to hear others thoughts? Did I get lucky? Didn't feel like it...

The problem of Haggler/Vineyards is that anytime you buy a Vineyard with Haggler in play, you must gain a Copper, so there is a bit of antisynergy going on. Also with no Cantrip action cards, there aren't really any that are ideal to spam. That being said, Haggler/BM didn't have much help either and there was no way to easily pile drive the Province pile. So it's kinda a toss up, but your opponent did have merit in his slight criticism of Vineyards.

It works well if there's another Alchemy card besides Transmute, though :)

no - I've fallen for this trap too. You can't gain Vineyard with a Haggler (not because of potion cost trickery, but because vineyard is a victory card)

Yes i agree with shark_bait. Was like a toss up. I was not sure about your vinneyard strategy, thinking about his lack of synergy. Haggler BM was not very strong here for sure, but if i have to play it again (and i wont because no more isotropic!!!!!!!!!! :'(), i'll go for it, not taking crossroads, only gold, silver...
I think the turn 3 was the key turn and slowed a lot my strategy.
In turn 3 i dont have cutpurse, and you have it. In turn 4 you've gold, i've mine turn 6.
I think cutpurse helped you more in this turn, wich is not the more frecuent being 2nd player.
Seeing the final (if you dont take province, i take), i thougth haggler BM was little better.
But i agree there was not super strong strategies here, and i didnt play very well mine!

Obligatory edge case: Peddler.

Also Highway/Bridge/Princess.

Also, if the copper and curse piles are out.
