I've been wanting to start a companion thread to "Really bad card ideas" for a while.

Post your terrible ideas for roles and setups here.

I'll start:



Paranoid Fruit Vendor

If anyone targets you in the night, they will receive a piece of fruit. The fruit does nothing.


Lightning Mod

All night actions will be redirected to you. And then redirected again to the mod.

There's some of these buried in the mafia queue thread:

New Bastard Mafia game to add to the queue:

Design "the worst role ever". 

As mod, I will randomly assign these roles to all other players, or you'll get the worst role I've ever been personally assigned - whichever is worse.

Role: Captains_Bitch
You have a post restriction you must talk like a Pirate. Additionally the mod will tell you whom the "captain" is and you must sheep that player. Your basically not even playing this game!

Role: Mad Scientist
Each night you may use one of the following one shot inventions
1) Mix Chemical A and C
2) Mix Chemical B and C
3) Mix Chemical A and D
4) Mix Chemical D and B

1 and 3 cause you to kill yourself, 2 causes you to kill a townie and have the entire town know you did it, 4 causes you to kill a scum pr.

Hated Beloved Miller Child

You are town aligned
You are publicly confirmed scum
When you are killed, the next day is skipped

Juliet -- One-Shot Death-Faking Lover
At any point during the day, you make fake your death.  You will be revived on the next day.
If your Lover dies, you also die.

Romeo -- Lover
If you Lover dies, you also die.
(Secret from player: Juliet's death-faking will appear real to you, causing you to die.)

Bus-"No-The-Other-Kind"-Driver

You are Mafia aligned.
You will be modkilled if you vote for a town-aligned player.

The Morgrim7
- You are town aligned
- You may only vote for yourself.
- Robz has mod confirmation that you are scum.

Hated-Hated-Hated-Hated-Hated-Hated Town JOAT

You have many wonderful abilities.
You begin D1 at L-1.
You are Robz888.

Lyncher-Lover-Survivor

You are both lovers with and lyncher of X. If they die, you die. You only win if you both kill your target and survive until the end of the game. Also, you're town and your lyncher-lover is scum.

Just thought of an interesting mechanic... it could be really bad, or potentially good depending on how you look at it, but it is to have post deadlines rather than time deadlines. So rather than day 1 is one week long. Instead have Day1 is at most 500 (or 250 or whatever) posts. Once 500 posts is reached, the thread will be locked unless a lynch is reached before that. Day2 would receive any leftover posts and go til post 1000, etc....

Might help lurkers not lurk, but could also result in people over posting being interpretted as scummy... it would basically kill off RSV... I don't know... could be worth trying?

This would be interesting for blitz.

Say for the 9 player game, you get 270 posts per day total.  That's 30 a person.  You could lynch people for wasting their posts on one-liners, etc.  Maybe you up the number to get a good balance.  You could lynch for posting too much, not enough, etc.

You can just typ what you normally would rmoving any of th prohibitd lttr most ppl can rad it anyways

It's just a matter of adding a line into the rules about patients only being able to communicate with valid English words.

I would hope that only lipogram enthusiasts who enjoy the challenge of avoiding a certain letter would sign up!

I would find this cool, mostly for an opportunity to call a furry scum "V" as his full alias would split your conditions. I doubt how a town could put a scum to a lynch as said word to say as such is not a word to allow. want to hang: V I propound

Yeah except I was going to have 1 day days. Or maybe even Dayless.
So just have it as a regular forum game thinking about it.

Might call it Mexican stand off.

Ok:

Cloud Atlas Mafia (Book Version)

You play a mafia game. Halfway through, you open a quicktopic with a new mafia game, different flavor and setup. Everyone in the game gets new roles, based karmically an their roles from the previous game (as in bad people who did good things get reincarnated as good people, etc.) Halfway through that game, same thing, for six different games. The sixth game you play out completely. When it's over, you back up and resolve the game before it, and so on until you finally conclude game 1 in the original thread.

In the movie version, the moderator gives everyone all 6 roles from the beginning and then switches which game is currently being played every few minutes.

Only new players can join, the Vets keep telling them all how the earlier games of mafia were so much better and these ones will be shit.
The newbies play, are largely unimpressed and wonder what the fuss is all about
Everybody lynches Jar Jar Binks
The Vets complain they are playing it wrong
There uis a massive argument about when the Vig shot, and whether that makes him town or scum
You try again a couple more times, still nobody cares

Then Forum mafia moves off of F.DS and onto The Pirates of the Caribbean General Off Topic forum
The Vets all follow and join in with the newbies
Massive anticlimax
Everybody stops playing Mafia
