Yeah, please please, let me play.

interested!

general comments:
- you might have trouble hitting 64. maybe lookup some of the players already knocked out and shoot them a message to see if they would be interested? a bunch of the knocked out players rarely post so they likely won't see this. even regular posters might not check in once they have been knocked out.
- you will probably want to cutoff registration sometime friday or saturday. that way you can set up seeds and brackets sunday and keep pace with the tournament at large.
-
Interested, but Please PM me or notify me somehow (not on the DS Championship subforum) if it's actually going to happen so I can make sure to see it.
-
Would be interested, but I probably don't have time - it was a blessing in disguise to lose in the first round.

1) Will do that a bit later today
2) Saturday at 11:59:59pm forum time sounds reasonable.

So wait, the people who advance further than the first round don't get to play anymore after they're eliminated, but the first round eliminatees do? :o

There might be a losers bracket 2 but normally round 1 is where the biggest upsets happen and where people are still the most amped to play

Would make it impossible to have a "bracket", but you could have a window each week to allow losers of the current main bracket to join the losers bracket, and then shuffle them in with the winners from the previous round of the loser's bracket. That is:
Now 'til ~Tuesday: Signups for Round 1 of Losers' Bracket (Round 1 main tournament losers)
Week 1 (~Tuesday-Monday or whatever): : Round 1 of Losers' Bracket + Signups for Round 2 of Losers' Bracket (Round 2 main tournament losers)
Week 2: Round 2 of Losers' Bracket (winners of Round 1 LB + new signups) + Signups for Round 3 of LB (Round 3 main tournament losers)
etc.
Each week, everyone still participating has the same "record" between the two tournaments. Re-seed, or just do a big random draw every round.
tl;dr: Make it more like a Swiss format, and once you have two losses between the tournaments, you're out.
-
Yes, traditionally loser's brackets incorporate subsequent losers in later rounds.
-
You can set it up like a double elimination bracket.

I meant as in like there could be a completely seperate losers bracket 2, that said I am open to suggestions for how to incorporate people from later rounds

You can set it up like a double elimination bracket.
The problem with the standard double elimination bracket is that it assumes everyone who loses a match will still be participating. That will be the case here.
(I wouldn't cap it at 64, given that there are 128 losers coming out of the main bracket round 1. But I suspect it won't get to 64 anyway.)
Just to put some example numbers to what I'm talking about, here's what the setup would look like if roughly 1/3 of the losers from the main bracket joined the losers' bracket each round:
Round 1: 42 r1 losers -> 21 winners
Round 2: 21 + 21 r2 losers = 42 -> 21 winners
Round 3: 21 + 11 r3 losers = 32 -> 16 winners
Round 4: 16 + 6 r4 losers = 22 -> 11 winners
Round 5: 11 + 3 r5 losers = 14 -> 7 winners
Round 6: 7 + 1 r6 loser = 8 -> 4 winners (at this point, the main tournament has reached its semifinals as well and assuming a third place match won't be sending any more players here)
Round 7: 4 -> 2
Round 8: 2 -> 1
The main difficulty is dealing with odd numbers, but that can be handled with byes. I'd be happy to help with the logistics if that all sounds like a nightmare. ;)

I'm assuming the main point is for the early eliminated players to play a few more games.
I would think that letting in people who were late to the party - like these two (http://forum.dominionstrategy.com/index.php?topic=5706.0) - couldn't really hurt. Especially if there's not too many sign-ups for the losers bracket and I don't think there's any prize or whatever on the line?
-
I think it could get complicated trying to add people from later rounds as they lose, but I guess it would depend on the number of people we have in this bracket to start. My main concern with adding people would be it slowing down the loser's bracket tourney. If they lose on Saturday do they have to sign up for loser's by Monday?? so that the loser's tourney can stay on the weekly schedule? I think it's do-able just harder on the people running it.
Also, I would not be opposed at all to letting in people who missed the main tourney. It seems like those extra numbers would help more than hurt at this point.
-
Personally not opposed to letting people who didn't play in if we don't hit cap

Per discussion in the other thread, posting to reiterate that:
1. Signups for round 1 losers and anyone who missed the main tournament signups are currently open, and will likely close... tomorrow? Everyone should be finished with round 1 of the main tournament now, but probably best to give a day or two to make sure people see this.
2. Losers in round 2 (and future rounds) are also welcome to sign up, and will be added in to the corresponding round of the losers bracket when we get there. Signups for each round will close ~2 days after deadline for that round of the main tournament.
