What happens when you Throne Room a Possession, and on the second Possession turn, have the other player play Outpost?
Allow me to call the Possessed Player 'B'.
What I thought is that the text on Outpost, which prohibits B from having more than two consecutive turns, would not allow B to take that extra turn. B just had two turns, after all. So, B would go into his regular turn... but with only three cards.
-
That is correct.
-
Is this different from playing Possession without Throne Room, and playing Outpost on the possessed turn? Or in this situation, does B get one turn with 3 cards followed by another with 5 cards?
-
Yes, in that case B would take an extra turn from the outpost (allowable, since it would be just one extra turn) and then take their regular turn.
-
So we interpret "take more than two consecutive turns" as "take your more than 2nd consecutive turn" rather than "end up taking more than two consecutive turns"?
-
Yes, I think so? Cards don't look ahead into the future to see what will happen later.
-
The Possession - Outpost case was laid out in the Alchemy rules, so we know for certain that Outpost's rule does not look ahead. I suppose the language on it could have been slightly more clear, that Outpost cannot give you an extra turn when you've already had two or more. (Specifying the past tense.)
It amuses me that playing Outpost on the Outpost turn actually hurts you, so I wondered if there was a way to turn it against the other player.
For even more wackiness, think about what happens when you play Outpost on the first turn of a Throne Roomed Possession?
I think it should be the following:
'B' takes a possessed turn (playing Outpost!), draws three cards in cleanup.
'B' takes a normal turn with the three card hand. Draws 5 in cleanup.
'B' takes another possessed turn.
'B' takes a normal turn.

When you have two Possessed turns and play an Outpost on the first one - at the end of the turn, two things happen simultaneously; player Y has to take an Outpost turn or a second Possessed turn. According to Donald X's ruling, this decision still goes with the last turn that was being taken; so, the player who played the Possessions gets to choose which happens first, the Outpost turn or the second Possessed turn. (Of course, if they choose to take the Possessed turn first, then the Outpost turn never happens since it would be the third one in a row.)
-
Oh! I didn't realize it would be a choice.
I can't decide if I really want to play a game with Throne Room, Possession & Outpost, or if I hope never to see that combo come up.
-
No, no you really don't want to play a game with those cards. Really.
And if you do, hope that either your opponent does not get Outpost or you do not get Possession...
-
BUMP because Goko doesn't get this right. I thought it did at first, because I played two Possessions and then used my opponent's Outpost on the second Possessed turn, and they had a normal turn with 3 cards. But then they Possessed me once, used my Outpost, and I had a normal turn with 3 cards too!
