Title: Screw this guy. Seriously (I can't find the "avoid these people on iso" thread).
Post by: metzgerism on September 10, 2012, 09:37:17 am
6:34 Hobnobbin: are you even trying?
6:34 Hobnobbin: so slow, wasting half my day
 6:34 Hobnobbin: no discernible strategy
 6:34 metzgerism: play
 6:34 Hobnobbin: get owned scrub
6:34 Hobnobbin has returned to the lobby.

Right before he left, he ended the game - this was his "victory" speech, apparently.

The game took about 12 minutes - not actually slow, imo.
Total asshole.

We have 3 or 4 of these threads; they've all been locked because they never end well or accomplish anything...

I think Hobnobbin is really fun. I can't take him seriously. At all. And I'm pretty sure he was known as Bubs before.

I'm not in favor shaming specific people when there's a glimmer of possibility, no matter how faint, that there's some other explanation for what happened.  But I'm all for shaming true assholes (like the one above).  We basically have no other way to police the behavior.  It may be 99.9% pointless, but if it makes it a little harder for the person to get a game going, well, that's 0.1% anyways.

Just played against drew86, and after I won, this is what he had to say:

drew86:  way to get lucky you pathetic bitch

I tend to reply to these statements with a simple  "Stay classy!" I might be part of the problem.

Ha, no I love that response.  The problem is usually that they tend to disappear right after getting off their parting shot.  It is pretty satisfying to be able to mute them if they're a jerk during the game, though (especially if I say something like "u mad?" first, which... uh... may mean that I am also part of the problem).  Anyways, the true assholes are few and far between, for which I am grateful....

Wait, how do you mute on Isotropic? Seems like a good thing to know (right before it shuts down :( )

My opponent is being mean / rude / nasty / annoying in the chat window.
You can mute them, so you will no longer see what they say. In a two-player game, type "/mute" into the chat window to mute them (and "/unmute" to see their chats once again). In a game with more than 2 players, you specify which player you want to mute by their position in turn order relative to you: "/mute before" mutes the player who comes before you, and "/mute 2 after" mutes the player who comes 2 after you (ie, after the person who plays after you).

Muting is one-way: it only prevents you from seeing their chat messages. It does not stop them from seeing yours (though of course they can choose to mute you too), and it doesn't stop what any other players in the game see.

Muting only works in games, not in the lobby, and it's not preserved from game to game. (Though really, if you find someone so annoying that you don't want to listen to them any more, why would you want to play another game with them?)

I wonder if you can mute yourself with "/mute 2 after" in a 2-player game.

It's something I do after making some comment on a thing I don't agree with/find repugnant.  Lifting from Anchorman and re-purposed for snark.

I just opened those threads, but will admit to having not read them yet, so I may edit / remove this "report" after I do.  The "unreal" comment was after my first 2 Young Witches plays avoided the 1 and 3 Banes in his deck (he'd bought a 4th just before my 2nd play, but not shuffled it yet).  After his final comment he apparently closed the browser to time out.

Not entirely sure, though I agree it is funny (especially when combined with lucksac), and becomes even moreso when the ranks are compared:  Me (as meow) = 35 -vs- Kicknascii = 27
