Title: Talisman/Black Market question
Post by: crashace on August 27, 2012, 09:02:24 pm
I looked around and didn't see this question here, so forgive me if this has been asked before...

I was playing an IRL game this weekend and we had Talisman and Black Market on the board.  We then had the question of whether you could gain multiple copies of a card from the Black Market deck by having Talisman(s) in play.  The majority decision was that you could, but not without quite a bit of discussion.  Has this been discussed here before?  Anyone know how iso handles these cards interacting?

You can't.

No, you cannot. There is no second copy of the card to gain. (Just like if you bought the last card in a supply pile, you can't gain another one even if you have Talisman in play.)

That matches up with the other opinion that was being argued.

To me that makes more logical sense as like you said there is no 2nd copy.  Thanks for the replies!

Another way of thinking about it is that Talisman says "... gain a copy of it."  Unless specified otherwise, gain means "gain from the Supply": there aren't any in the Supply, so you can't have one.

The same goes for Jester.
