Title: Cartographer on Isotropic?
Post by: Adrienaline on June 16, 2012, 02:30:10 pm
I freely admit this may be me misunderstanding how to use the interface, but I don't seem to be able to use Cartographer's "reorder the cards in any way you like before returning them to the deck" mechanic.

Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong? Does Navigator have a similar interface?

You should be able to drag and drop the cards to the desired position (left => top). This is the same for similar cards like Apothecary or Navigator.

The reordering does not work on Tablets or Phones afaik. On other devices, just drag and drop.

FWIW I'm pretty sure it's already in the isotropic FAQ.  Maybe you could link to that FAQ as well?

the Isotropic FAQ explains how to use the drag and drop interface but it doesn't touch on why it might not be working.  either way, i added the Isotropic FAQ link to the forum FAQ.

Ok, I get that this is how it's meant to work (and I'm sure I've used it in the past with other cfards with no problems). But for me, playing on a PC (firefox browser, kept up to date), cartographer comes up with check boxes for ones to discard, and no option to reorder them. I have tried dragging the check boxes to no avail.

I'm sure it's probably still me, but I'm not sure how to fix this.

First you choose which card(s) to discard, then you get the option to rearrange them after that.

That should have become clear immediately after you checked the boxes.  Have you just been letting your game go with the boxes unchecked, waiting for an answer on here?

I have not, though that's a funny thought :)

No, I get the check boxes, then it says "discarded these, putting the other ones back on the deck" No option to drag and drop comes up.

Basically, this is what it should look like:

First you get the option to discard any number of cards.

Then after you've checked boxes and pressed "done" the interface will change to this:

And that's were you're able to drag and drop them. I'm assuming the "second stage" does not appear for you?

That is correct. As previously stated, I am using a PC with a Firefox browser, if that helps with diagnosis.

Maybe the cards you were putting back on the deck just happened to all be the same?  :)

Yeah, if all possible orderings are identical Isotropic will just do it automatically.

Ahhh, so that's what was happening. No problem, I've got it now. Didn't realise I was making new combinations all of the same card.

My apologies. If you like, lock this thread :) I'm satisfied.
