No longer being updated, official sign up to follow
Since everyone keeps posting in the ZOMGZ online dominion is doing something thread i feel like there should be a thread for people who are interested in the beta to say so without derailing that thread. So if this bloats out of control, or someone else should be running it or there shouldn't be one or whatever I'll stop it or whatever but to prevent derail I will keep a list of people interested in the beta here.
Being on this list does not guarantee you a spot in the beta, nor does it imply any association between myself and Funsockets/Donald X/Rio Grande Games.

I'll update this post whenever I get around to it with the names of people who are interested in the beta. To make things easier on me please do not post here if you have already expressed interest
-
Me.
I would like to see the costs, though.
Edit: Can't
-
I would like to beta test it. I could easily do so from any of 3 major platforms: PC, Android, iOS.
-
If we are listing our virtues: I am (studying to be) a programmer so I know stuff!, would test on Linux (it's HTML5 so doesn't really matter though) and have also beta-tested before (DotA for years).
-
Me. I am a game developer, that makes me top tier.
-
I am interested and am on paid vacation for the summer, so I will have lots of time!
-
Interested
-
And I as well. ;D
-
I, too, would like to register for this list.
-
Count me in!
-
I'll say I'm interested, though there has been no indication that doing so means anything.
-
I'm interested of course. But not spazzing out.
You want a reason? I've got lots, but I'll go with what's in my sig: I've been called the fanbase.
-
Well I feel like 99% of this site is going to say they are interested. What can I say? I am the 99%.
Definitely interested.
-
I would definitely be interested, and could test it on PC and Android.
-
I mean, sure.
-
Oh yeah.
-
Color me interested.
-
I'd like to be in the beta :)
-
I am also interested, and if it matters would be able to try it out on Mac, Windows, iOS, and PlayStation Network.
-
Count me in.
-
Sure, I'm interested too.
-
Well, duh.
And okay... I'll be the one to say it. It would be much easier to have an opt out list, or no list at all. I'm pretty sure that when the time comes Donald will give Theory a link/code/whatever to access the beta and Theory will just do a site-wide email/PM. If at that point you wtill want to take part, then you follow the instructions.
-
Yeah, I'm interested.
-
of course I am, aren't we all?
-
Yes, I would love to!
-
Interested
-
I'm a web developer and I'm definitely interested. Who wouldn't be?
-
I'm in.
-
Can't we just add everybody on this forum to the list and save the trouble
-
I'd be in.
-
And okay... I'll be the one to say it. It would be much easier to have an opt out list, or no list at all.
And the thread is over.

There are a lot of inactive people on the forum. It is self-contradictory to ask them to opt out.
-
Yep.
-
I'd hit it

Are people just interested in getting their hands on the product before it's actually released, or are people interested in giving FunSockets proper feedback and help them make sure their product is as good as they want it?
I have some, but quite limited, experience in beta testing (never tested any digital beta product), but my experience tells me that a lot of the people who tests are generally more interested in trying the product out than actually contributing to making it better. And then there's the limited amount of people who want to shape the product into something they want instead of what the target audience wants. In this case I think most of the people here really want an isotropic 2, while Rio Grande and FunSockets probably wants it to be more casual. And if most of the beta testers are from here, I guess you see what your feedback will lead to. That being said, I'm not sure how much influence the beta testers will have over the interface and such.
Anyway I'm super stoked about the product, and I don't want to be too judgemental on you guys, since I really hope you will be able to contribute to the beta testing, that you will have fun doing so and that the product will be good in the end.

Yes

Definitely the improving the product part. I spend so much time playing dominion online, I want this to be both worth my money and time. Though I certainly won't be upset about having early access to the product..

Interested. Of course I want to improve the product.
-
It's good that you want to improve the product, but do you want to make it suit you or Rio Grande/FunSockets the general public?
-
I am interested, as well.
-
It's good that you want to improve the product, but do you want to make it suit you or Rio Grande/FunSockets the general public?
It's important to note that the developers on the forum are probably the most qualified to help and post detailed bug reports. This includes myself. However to your more specific point of note, if help improve the product to your liking it will improve it for the general public. Assume you have 2 different mind sets testing the product and that X and Y are contradictory features
"I THINK THAT X IS REALLY IMPORTANT"
"I THINK THAT Y IS REALLY IMPORTANT"
whats the answer here? A toggle. If X and Y are both actually important you can please one person or none.
I've been involved in quite a few beta tests recently, and a lot of them its not even important if you report bugs, a lot of the time they just want to test the server for how many people it can handle.
So back to where I started, if you think X would make the product better in general for you, it's probably going to make it better in general for the user base, and therefore Rio Grande and Donald X
-
It's good that you want to improve the product, but do you want to make it suit you or Rio Grande/FunSockets the general public?
I don't understand why all of the above can't be an option here.
-
It's good that you want to improve the product, but do you want to make it suit you or Rio Grande/FunSockets the general public?
It's unrealistic to expect anybody to know how to make the product better except for themselves. FunSockets can always choose to ignore suggestions if they want to. Besides, it can be easier to squeeze money from a hardcore audience long-term, after casual players have moved on to something else. (Imagine, for example, pay-to-enter tournaments with prizes.)
-
@Insomniac: The thing is that most of the people I've seen express themselves about the product says it's not enough iso for them. I don't think that this will primarily be marketed to the top iso players who wants their iso because it's fast and competitive, but that may be a wild and possibly wrong assumption. I guess what I mean is that what if the beta testers are 50% iso-lovers while the players using the final product are 98% non-iso-lovers? Not that it's anything wrong at all with being an iso-lover.
@WanderingWinder: It can be, but it hasn't got to be that way. I guess I'm just cynical.
@blueblimp: Again, I'm kind of assuming that most people from here would like the product to be iso 2. There is a difference in trying to get the product to work as intended and trying to get it to work as you'd like it.

I'm interested!

I'm interested in beta testing!

I think anyone on these forums is interested in beta testing, me among them.

i want to be in the beta too

Has anyone ever seen an 'unofficial beta sign up thread' ever be used for anything ever?
In all my years of using the internet and playing games I have never ever seen a game producer go 'Oh well we were going to do beta this way, but lets just give all those guys who wrote in that thread invites as well'
Obviously it might be construed as a little bit different here as Donald XYZ reads, but then all the others I have seen get put on official forums anyways.
Not that I am saying I don't want in the Beta, of course I do, but just rarely see the point in these threads and have always wanted to question why people make them and sign up in them, and you lot seem reasonable and educated enough for me to ask....
-
I agree it's a longshot, but (1) Donald said something cryptic in another thread that made it seem like a possibility (2) better to do this here than in that thread and (3) how would you feel if you didn't post and this turned out to be the one time they did do the thing?
It's sort of like entering an Internet sweepstakes. You know, probabilistically, that it's stupid, but you still can't ignore the chance, when all you have to do is post in a thread.

You enter internet sweepstakes? :o You know those things are all scams, right? Where they at least take your personal information and sell it?
-
Well, I don't enter ones that ask for personal information. I can spot obvious scams. I'm talking about publicity stunts, just stupid things that are like "retweet or like our facebook page for a chance to win."

Right, but twitter and facebook have at least some personal information, which once you do this retweet or like, they're ok to share with the people. This is the gist of the scams.

(1) I read from Donalds implication the other way, that pretty much anyone from FDS would be accepted.
(3 + Sweepstakes comment) So what you are saying is that you think there is a tiny tiny possibility that at some point RGG are going to come along and decide that only people who have posted in this thread from FDS get into the beta, and that anybody who hasn't already posted in it are no longer allowed in?
Because I reckon that has the same chance of being true as those internet chain letters that say someone will die if you dont send it on to 10 people....

While I agree this thread probably won't mean anything, I was actually a little disheartened with all the derails in the ZOMGZ thread, I like it when that thread holds actual information so I can go there to read real information, instead of seeing "interested in beta"

Haha, I like it!
So what you have done is create a thread knowing it will be full of useless information in order to leech the useful thread of rubbish information.

Sort of, I while I think this thread is PROBABLY useless, it might not be it might be handy for the devs when they decide to send out keys, but I don't know. I definetly didn't want all the useless info in the other thread.

We will have an official signup for the beta imminently. But this thread has been extremely helpful -- the FunSockets crew are gratified that all of you have expressed so much interest in participating.

Add me to the list.

Now you're going to cause people to fill this thread with people saying they're interested in being on YOUR sign up list. Am I going to have to make an unofficial official sign up list to keep people talking about your list out of this thread?

Do we really need to go deeper?
I think we need to make a poll on whether it's rude to create a separate unofficial thread to keep track of people who want to be on theory's list.

Okay but can you do it in a quicktopic so it doesn't show up on my RSS feed*?
*I don't actually use a RSS feed.

Who to avoid in the decline of civility in the OMG I did a masq pin with a bridge mega-turn in the Mafia in the memes for the thread about the list in a list for OMG ISOTROPIC is going DOWN for an official version of online dominion?

I don't understand. I'm gonna need you to rephrase that in a way that references blue dogs.
-
Add me to the list that ends up being important.
Does this stay in this thread, or get moved to the upcoming thread for Theory's list? Or is it in both?

I'm not sure Mary Landrieu and Max Baucus play Dominion, but it would certainly be amusing if they did.
