Title: Bug in Council Room stats with tied wins on 3 player games
Post by: Varsinor on June 06, 2012, 08:48:50 am
Council room does not record ties on 3 (and presumbably also 4) player games as such.

Yesterday I had a tied win with one other person in a 3 player game:
http://councilroom.com/game?game_id=game-20120605-140644-168c2ecc.html

However, my stat page (http://councilroom.com/player?player=Varsinor) shows a total 3 player record of 78-59-0 and a record of the last day of 25-7-0. The tied game seems to have been recorded as a victory instead of a tie. (The names of =-sup-= and me are green instead of grey here  (http://councilroom.com/search_result?p1_name=Varsinor)as well.)

Now, one might argue that it was a win from both of us over the third player, but that doesn't seem right to me. I think such games should be recorded as a tie - otherwise the last zero on the stats for multi player games doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

Just for the record, yesterday I had another tied first place in a 3 player game:

It isn't shown as a tie in the stats for last day or 3 player games, though.

I think this is a feature.  Of my 350 3rd and 4th place starts none of them were draws, and I've almost certainly rejoiced in my joint victory several times.

I think this is a feature.

Why would this be a reasonable feature? The fact that you confirm that it is programmed as I said doesn't make it a feature... ;) If there is no sensible reason for the way it is currently programmed, I'd definitely call it a bug. (No terribly urgent one, of course.)

You still beat someone at the table, correct?

Huh? I have no idea what you mean here.

He's saying you beat someone else who was playing - i.e., if you get 2nd in a 3-player game, you beat the guy who got 3rd.

I think if you tie for the lead and also beat someone, then you've won.  Indeed, the that's way the rules say, rejoice in your shared victory!

If you really want to change it to your way, I'll accept a git pull request that changes it to some other reasonable thing, but it's not something that I am going to spend time doing.

This is true.  I meant to add "and it makes sense this way". :)
