This will be a an open Mafia Game for 12 players based on the Donner Party Set Up.

The Rules:
The Golden Rule:
This is a game. Everyone who signs up to play must be considerate of each other, never get personal, and focus on having fun. Once the game starts, having signed up is a commitment: inactivity is just as inconsiderate as rude comments.
The Standard Rules:
1. No communication between players outside of the game thread or shared QTs at any time. This includes passing references, jokes, or cases in other games or threads, whether in context or not.
2. If the game thread is locked, do not post. If you are unsure if something is locked, ask the mod by PM.
3. Direct or verbatim quoting of mod-provided information (including QT opening and closing times) is strictly forbidden. Paraphrasing is okay.
4. Actions with instructions that do not specify a game state will be resolved in the order they are received.
5. All night actions must be submitted within 36 hours of day ending.
6. Players must post once every 24 hours.
7. Do not edit or delete posts, ever. If you need to clarify or correct something, post again.
8. Invisible text, font size less than 10, and spoiler tags are not allowed.
9. Cryptography is not allowed.
10. The time between an exile being reached and a flip being provided is called twilight. All players may continue posting during this time, including the exiled player.
11. Dead players may not post in thread or QT, except their Role QT. An exiled player is not "dead" until a flip has been provided.
12. Personal multimedia, such as video or audio recordings, are not allowed in the game thread.
The Voting Rules:
1. Votes should be in this format: Vote: Playername. Unambigiuous nicknames are acceptable, or any string that uniquely identifies a user. Note that the point of voting is, in fact, unambiguity, and attempting to make it unclear to other players (or, of course, mods) which user you are voting for is very ill-advised.
2. Unvotes should be in this format: unvote or Unvote: Playername.
3. Unvotes are not required if changing your vote from one player to another.
4. You may NOT vote: no exile.
5. Exiles occur when a simple majority (rounded up) of living players is reached. Once reached, an exile cannot be undone.
6. If a majority lynch is not reached by the Day's deadline, the player with the most votes will be exiled. In case of a tie, the first player to reach the tied vote count will be exiled.
The Rest:
1. Bold, Brown text are reserved for the MODs. Players may not use it.
2. If you have an issue or problem with the game, please PM the Mod. Do not post complaints in the game thread.
3. Mods make mistakes - please point them out gently. If they can be corrected, they will. If irreversible, they will stand as final to be commiserated over after the game.
4. If a mod error disadvantages one faction greatly, the game may be called off.
5. Ask all questions and make all requests directly to the Mod via PM. Questions deemed as "universal" (defined as questions for which the answers should be available to all players) will be requested to be re-posted in the Game Thread and answered there.
6. Players may request prods on other players if they have not posted in 24 hours. Players are subject to replacement or modkill after one prod.
7. All rule violations will be dealt with according to their severity, as determined by the mod.
8. Each player will receive their own QT, regardless of role. Don't quote from it.
9. If the game goes on for 3 days and 3 nights without a lynch or nightkill, town wins.
Deadlines:
1. Days will last seven IRL days.
2. Nights will last 48 hours.

Donner Party Mafia is an Open Setup that features a unique Cannibal mechanic that temporarily hides the role and alignment of a nightkilled player.

The Serial Killer has 1-shot NK immunity and a 1-shot roleblocker immunity
Dietician is a flavour cop that produces results of Cannibal/Not Cannibal
The town cannot no-eliminate.
When a Cannibal night-kills someone, they take the body and put it in their larder, resulting in no role/alignment reveal to the town for that kill. The Cannibal who performed the kill learns the role/alignment reveal via their result PM.
If a Cannibal night-kills another Cannibal, they take all of the bodies their target had, learning all the role/alignment information their target knew. This will include their target's night-kill target from that same night, if applicable.
If more than one Cannibal night-kills the same target, they will all learn the target's role/alignment information. They will not learn that their target was killed multiple times.
If two Cannibals night-kill eachother, and are not in turn night-killed by yet another Cannibal, their role/alignment information, and that of all the bodies they possessed, is revealed to the town.
The Cannibal mechanic has no effect on eliminations. The role/alignment of the eliminated is always revealed to the town. If a Cannibal is eliminated, the role/alignment information of all their bodies is also revealed.

You will receive back either a PM indicating that the target did not die, or a PM containing their role/alignment information, and if they were a Cannibal, the role/alignment of all bodies they possessed when they were killed.
The role/alignment of your night-kill targets is not shared with the town
Win condition:
You win when all other killers are dead and you control 50% of the town or nothing can prevent this from occurring.
Cannibal Serial Killer
Welcome, [Player Name]. You are a Cannibal Serial Killer.
Abilities:
Cannibal nightkill: Each night phase, you may perform your nightkill. You will receive back either a PM indicating that the target did not die, or a PM containing their role/alignment information, and if they were a Cannibal, the role/alignment of all bodies they possessed when they were killed.
The role/alignment of your night-kill targets is not shared with the town
One-shot Night-kill Immunity: The first night you are targeted for a night-kill (even if you're targeted more than once), you will not die. You are not notified that this has occurred.
One-shot Roleblocker Immunity: The first night you are targeted by the Roleblocker, the roleblock on you will fail. You are not notified that this has occurred.
Win condition:
You win when you are the last player alive or nothing can prevent this from occurring.
Cannibal Vigilante
Welcome, [Player Name]. You are a Cannibal Vigilante.
Abilities:
Cannibal nightkill: Each night phase, you may perform your nightkill. You will receive back either a PM indicating that the target did not die, or a PM containing their role/alignment information, and if they were a Cannibal, the role/alignment of all bodies they possessed when they were killed.

Town Dietician
Welcome, [Player Name], you are a Town Dietician.
Abilities:
Each night phase, you may investigate one player by PM'ing the mod. You will receive results in the form of Cannibal, Not Cannibal or No Result.
Win condition:
You win when all threats to the town are eliminated and there is at least one town-aligned player alive.
Town Roleblocker
Welcome, [Player Name], you are a Town Roleblocker.
Abilities:
Each night you may choose to roleblock a player, which will prevent them from using an action. The only exception to this is if you target the Serial Killer - they will bypass your block the first time this happens.
Win condition:

We're all managing, pandemic teaching was getting the better of me but I'm recenetered and back at it. The kids keep finding new ways to make us grow older every day, which swing between hilarious and annoying.
I'm currently coming off of a covid spell that I and our youngest had, the other two have escaped luckily. Once this is kicked and everyone can get back to daycare things will be much smoother.

Imagine, if you would, a utopia of sorts. No utopia we will ever see though. This place is far away in the galaxy of MiltonBradlia.
For Millenia, it was a land of happiness and joy. Home to Hippopotamuses of all sizes, shapes and colors. Green Hippos, Red Hippos, Yellow, Purple... Every color you could imagine.
The Hippos spent their days wiggling their creepy ears, playing in the water... and feasting on delicious eggs!
But the Hippos feasted too much! Instead of wiggling their dumb ears and swimming all day these lazy SOBs should of been focusing on cultivating more eggs, as it was there only source of food!
What was once a beautiful and safe utopia has now turned into a desolate wasteland. When the supply of eggs ran out the Hippos split into 2 schools of belief.
One school focuses on trying to find ways to grow more eggs and protect them from the other Hippos. They hold themselves up in their village, working diligently in attempts to rebuild their utopia.
The other Hippos though... they did not want to waste time working and growing new eggs to eat. So they turned to their only other food source available to them - HIPPOS!
Will the good Hippos prevail, returning MiltonBradlia to its future state of utopia? Or will the cannibalistic Hippos rid the land of the last of the Good Hippos?
Who knows! Let's find out!

Town has 3 PRs, and this being open, they are all also virtual ICs. However, we have forced Exiles. This is a bit of a problem as it doesn't allow for a clear point at which it's sensible to claim. But we absolutely need to allow claims because exiling a town PR is just extra awful. If wagons shift here last minute that can quickly lead to a very bad exile.
So, we should come up with a rule to prevent that. Something along the line of, anyone who has less than three votes 24 hours prior to the deadline may not be voted for anymore. Or to a bit of a wider net, maybe anyone who has received at least 3 votes at some point in the Day is eligible for exile.

Well in this setup, I believe the vig has information on who they have killed, and they'd be the only person who could tell town this info? Which makes them more useful than normal (although I still don't think the vig should just start random crap shooting like they often do in games)

However, even if I were to agree that vigs are negative utility (which is a dumb take), then it would still be the case that the vig is also a Named Townie, which is a positive utility role.

Right. Funny how this conversation is all based on joth incorrectly attributing the negative utility idea to faust. Actually, scumreading faust for seeming to value the vig is striking me as scummy. Even if he had said something about vigs being negative utility in the past, it's strange to expect him to be so consistent that he would say outing the vig is fine in this game.

Once I did. You were scum two times in a row, and you fooled me completely the first time and then I caught you quickly the second time because of similarity to the game just finished that was still fresh in my memory. Right. Funny how this conversation is all based on joth incorrectly attributing the negative utility idea to faust. Actually, scumreading faust for seeming to value the vig is striking me as scummy. Even if he had said something about vigs being negative utility in the past, it's strange to expect him to be so consistent that he would say outing the vig is fine in this game.

Jimmmmm's basically saying that if I'm aware enough of my own meta to comment on it in my defense, I'm probably aware of my own meta enough to circumvent it. But then, am I audacious enough to reverse my own meta, then immediately use that to defend myself? It starts to feel a bit overly complicated, not to mention ineloquent. Wouldn't I just do the thing and let someone else comment on the meta implications.

See above. This vote is total nonsense, reflects a lack of having read the thread, and really starts to push my wagon into dangerous territory. But again, it's so blatant it almost seems more like bad town play than scum play because it's so blatant.
But the nice thing that gkrieg has going for him is he's also something of a lurker, and several people I respect have expressed an interest in a lurker exile today, so I could definitely get onboard there.
But for me, the winner is shraeye. The combination of being in the scummiest wagon slot and making an apparent joke vote but then not moving it is just enough to put him over the top.

I sort of gave up on reacting emotionally to early wagons against me, because they happen with alarming frequency and getting annoyed about them just makes people vote for you more. Ok, you have some fair points here. But I think the starter of the wagon is too high-visibility. When people are doing wagon analysis, the person who started the wagon gets scrutinized pretty hard, along with the hammer vote. But, like, you're right that the starter of a wagon doesn't know they're starting a wagon so scum doesn't have much choice about it.
None of that changes that EFHW's vote strikes me as earnest. Not saying EFHW couldn't be scum, just saying there's better options.

Hmmm.... I was looking at the people voting for me and thinking about their reasons. I went to reread mathdude. It took 2 minutes. He has 4 posts and nothing of substance, but there is zero reason for his vote and it happened after the RVS stage had petered out. Two of his posts are the result of votes, and the other two are when he votes for me without reason (he was following Jack, so because he thought I was lurking??) and then doubles down on it, again without any sort of anything. I am not sure I want to call it scummy, could just be no effort.

Well I can't offer much other advice I'm afraid. mathdude hasn't said anything that made me mad so far, which is usually how I can tell that he's town. But I'm not sure it makes him scum.

I think I've said this before, but I really don't understand why some people like to target lurkers so much.
1) Personally, when I'm scum, because it doesn't happen that often, I'm extra-excited to play the game. I can't imagine rolling scum and then just not posting.
2) When I'm scum and I'm trying to direct the exile, it's very tempting to choose a lurker because they're easy to exile and there's a decent chance they won't show up to defend themselves.
3) Lurking as scum isn't particularly strategic -- you're essentially giving up your chance to A) manipulate the town and (B) earn towncred. Why do that?
4) There's plenty of reasons to lurk as town -- IRL business, being overwhelmed by the size of the town and the lack of information, fear of being painted as scummy for what you say (though two of those could also apply to scum).
5) Scum has had a chance to strategize about their day 1 before the game even started, with the benefit of a partner to offer suggestions. They should be coming in more ready than anyone to engage.
So with all that working against it, why push for it? I'd say it has a worse-than-even chance of hitting scum. I suppose it has the side benefit of keeping active players in the game and removing players about whom it's hard to glean information.

I think I've said this before, but I really don't understand why some people like to target lurkers so much.
1) Personally, when I'm scum, because it doesn't happen that often, I'm extra-excited to play the game. I can't imagine rolling scum and then just not posting.
2) When I'm scum and I'm trying to direct the exile, it's very tempting to choose a lurker because they're easy to exile and there's a decent chance they won't show up to defend themselves.
3) Lurking as scum isn't particularly strategic -- you're essentially giving up your chance to A) manipulate the town and (B) earn towncred. Why do that?
4) There's plenty of reasons to lurk as town -- IRL business, being overwhelmed by the size of the town and the lack of information, fear of being painted as scummy for what you say (though two of those could also apply to scum).
5) Scum has had a chance to strategize about their day 1 before the game even started, with the benefit of a partner to offer suggestions. They should be coming in more ready than anyone to engage.
So with all that working against it, why push for it? I'd say it has a worse-than-even chance of hitting scum. I suppose it has the side benefit of keeping active players in the game and removing players about whom it's hard to glean information.
I don't think lurking is alignment-indicative. Well there might exist players for who it is but not generally. So I think you're misguided in thinking that lurkers have a worse-than-average chance of hitting scum. But they also don't have a better-than-average chance.
But I think if a lurker has the same average scumminess level in their post as an active player, it's always preferable to exile the lurker.

I do think a serial killer is a bit more likely to lurk as they really need to stay under the radar. So this game has that going for it.
And one third of the scum in this game is a serial killer, so that's a pretty significant fraction.
It's the only reason I'm not yelling to shield math right now, he could easily be SK for that specific reason.

The problem with forced exile is that people don't actually need to commit to anything. Just let it happen. I'll try to be around more tomorrow. Just getting back into the habit of checking forum regularly

I take fausts position on lurking. It just happens...also certain people are prone to lurk not just because they have a lack of things to say, but because of timezones/availability. I seem to recall Jimmm getting labeled a lurker quite often, well...timezones.

Hmmm.... I was looking at the people voting for me and thinking about their reasons. I went to reread mathdude. It took 2 minutes. He has 4 posts and nothing of substance, but there is zero reason for his vote and it happened after the RVS stage had petered out. Two of his posts are the result of votes, and the other two are when he votes for me without reason (he was following Jack, so because he thought I was lurking??) and then doubles down on it, again without any sort of anything. I am not sure I want to call it scummy, could just be no effort.
Wasn't for no reason, and it wasn't specifically sheeping Jack. As I read a few of your start-up posts, they seemed more forced than normal - not as natural as usual. Then I saw I wasn't the only one suspecting you, so rather than asking or commenting, I just voted to add pressure.

When a Cannibal night-kills someone, they take the body and put it in their larder, resulting in no role/alignment reveal to the town for that kill. The Cannibal who performed the kill learns the role/alignment reveal via their result PM.
If a Cannibal night-kills another Cannibal, they take all of the bodies their target had, learning all the role/alignment information their target knew. This will include their target's night-kill target from that same night, if applicable.
If more than one Cannibal night-kills the same target, they will all learn the target's role/alignment information. They will not learn that their target was killed multiple times.
If two Cannibals night-kill eachother, and are not in turn night-killed by yet another Cannibal, their role/alignment information, and that of all the bodies they possessed, is revealed to the town.

Standard rule 4 (original post in this thread), combined with cannibal mechanics (reposted by Didds a few posts ago) seem to indicate a carnival could definitely be dead and we wouldn't know, yet.
Rule 4 says things are resolved in the order they are received. One cannibal kills townie. Next cannibal kills cannibal 1 and gets their info. Because they didn't kill each other, we get no info.

I was confused by the 1 gkrieg thing, with no mention of goon or vig, but now I get it that he's one of the two options and the other is dead.
There is some reason to consider exiling gkrieg, since goon!gkrieg would have an nk to kill another town. We may have the assistance of the RB, but in blocking gkrieg they lose a chance to help find the SK. Vig!gkrieg might want to shoot, too, but that is less worrisome given that he'd be making his decision in light of town's best interests. We don't generally exile vigs to keep them from shooting!
In the end, I agree we should not exile gkrieg today. He put himself in the SK crosshairs by claiming, and a solo goon would not do that. Would a drunk!solo!goon?

Really though, I don't think claiming does much other than expose PRs. A little coordination could happen, but then scum/SK could know better how to counter... at night and with claims.
And each cannibal (including gk, whether good or bad) now has a safe claim that cannot be countered, even if it is just VT. We know each got a kill last night, with 3 night deaths.
At least next game day, we should only have a max of 3 deaths (exile and 2 night kills), so there should still be 5 or more around then.

I can see where we would have a harder time exiling a claimed PR than a claimed VT. But an uncountered claimed PR is automatically suspicious whereas a fakeclaiming VT is just one in a group of other people claiming VT. Nothing to draw attention to themselves. And that issue isn't solved by claiming PRs now.

My assumption is gkrieg is telling the truth. That's not a winning play by Goon#2.
So we're hunting SK...yeah, claims...the RB is really not helpful right now because of what UncleE says. But it's not super helpful as a named town either, due to the body-snatch effect. Named town is much less powerful in this setup; it's a neat setup. But I don't think UncleE is correct about weird cop; I'd want to have results before I claimed. Claiming just to be a named person isn't as strong as claiming with results.

I think I've convinced myself that gk has to be telling the truth. There are a couple edge cases where he could be lying, but it does seem too risky to be worth it.
And for roles, hindsight will always be better. But getting more info is probably better, imo, than revealing power roles early here... even with the higher risk of body-snatching.
RB can choose whether they block the same if they still think that person may be SK, or try a new target and hope to survive both N2 and N3 if needed. Cop can get info for another person. And gk can try to find SK... since RB shouldn't target him, if his kill doesn't go through, he's as good as the cop now (except a wrong guess kills a town).
Would it make sense for gk to announce his target before deadline? Then cop and RB won't double-up on his target (though they could still both hit the same person). And even if he does target the SK and the SK targets him because of it, then we win anyway.

This is possible, but the number of deaths tonight should help us sort it out, hopefully. There's still the chance of manipulation by him if he's lying. But if we got all killing roles dead except him on D1 and N1, AND he pulled this huge gamble, he almost deserves the win already. I think it's much more likely, and in our best interest, to assume he's telling the truth... at least for today.
There's also the possibility that he's SK and killed Vig. Other scum doesn't counter, or he's exposed. Gk gambles that we or he finds other scum before scum kills him 2 nights in a row. But again... a risky edge case, and better for us to just assume he's telling the truth today.

If Eddie/Joth are the folks most instrumental in exiling Jack, you can be HAPPY with their actions (I am) but in terms of whether their actions make them GoodPeople...their actions really just means "They are very much not Jack's partner." Which means they are either SK or Town, each having equal incentive/happiness at exiling a Goon on Day1.
The only world where Jack's partner is somehow still alive is when it is gkreig going crrrrazy with a gambit. So, you're saying "I am sure Eddie/joth are on my team because they are not Jack's partner....really doesn't compute with the statements you made here"

I will say that I don’t think I was at risk of being exiled very soon, so I wouldn’t take the risk of claiming vig as the SK. At least not right now. I claimed early because I act as an SK cop. As long as im not roleblocked, if my kill does not go through, I’ve shot the SK.

#2: magnitude and cause- your cause is unknown to me. Magnitude is that I have you been your sole focus since mid-way through D1, and all of today.
#3: mindset and futility of words. I think Joth summarized well. We disagree on what an SK would think. I have no experience being an SK so I am just guessing. You decide the way that I think about is wrong and therefore scummy, so it really doesn't matter what I say. I will agree that I don't know your mindset, but but can be surmised based on these posts.
This really doesn't compute. If Eddie/Joth are the folks most instrumental in exiling Jack, you can be HAPPY with their actions (I am) but in terms of whether their actions make them GoodPeople...their actions really just means "They are very much not Jack's partner." Which means they are either SK or Town, each having equal incentive/happiness at exiling a Goon on Day1.
The only world where Jack's partner is somehow still alive is when it is gkreig going crrrrazy with a gambit. So, you're saying "I am sure Eddie/joth are on my team because they are not Jack's partner....really doesn't compute with the statements you made here"

I never said that no cases was the SK-way. The issue came up D1, where Didds made a post that seemed wagon-analysis-ish but had much less content than, forexample, joth's similar post.
In Didd's rebuttal of my general suspicion, she said "despite me finding scum" which indicates a mitigating factor to what came before...so now my current issue is that finding scum doesn't mitigate her previous posts.

Shraeye has been a bit aggressive, and I seem to remember him doing that as scum back in the old days. Kind of like what happened to Didds. I suspected him and his response really stung. Something about Batman.

Well, in the absence of a lock-post, we might as well talk in twilight. I do suspect the SK will likely target a known PR - either gk if he's telling the truth about being a Vig, or me (and I've intentionally not said which of the other 2 roles I am), rather than gambling at finding the final PR.

Either me or the other PR have a direct ability to find the other cannibal... and the other of us has an indirect ability (if the expected number of night kills doesn't happen, one possible explanation is RB... and alternatively if the expected number of kills happens, then the RB effectively confirms another non-killer townie). Also, Vig has the ability to win the game if they find the final killer.
... of course, all this assumes the game isn't over already. That would be quite the win!

Do remember that after a lot of bluster, it all came down to MiX/shraeye. I found that odd.
Shraeye's hot/cold takes: gkrieg is believable in his claim. mathdude is not as believable. EFHW is least likely of the non-claimers to be SK. Didds is unlikely as well.

I can't speak for others, but I know it doesn't give me any reassurance. You are one of my possible targets tonight... I'm still debating between you and a couple others. It's a combination of wanting to maximize the chance of finding non-town, between picking the most scummy and trying to not double up on what other PRs might pick... while also not coordinating targets in thread, so the SK can't plan around it.

gkrieg is either the vig or the SK. We vote EFHW, then we either win or vote gkrieg.
Obviously if the roleblocker blocked gkrieg for some reason they should claim. And also explain why they did that.
We could do a mass claim just for fun, but I can't see any way, other than an absolutely mad roleblocker, that the SK isn't either EFHW or gkrieg. And the lack of a third kill just confirms gkrieg's story even more.

I think so. If gkrieg comes back dead today, and math has cleared someone else, then the other PR claims, we’d have 3 or 4 confirmed town and it would be tough to wiggle. But with math dead, we get no more info from him and now it’s just an argument about if gkrieg is lying or not. Or if the fear was that math checked her, a guilty result would been game over. Better odds there than the POE on the other scenario, right? And she wouldn’t have known she’d have been gkrieg’s target when she decided.
That all works, right? (I haven’t had coffee yet!)
