If one is familiar with the game, you could easily use something like 5, or 10 of each.
Do you have any set number? Of each or combined?
Do you prefer to keep them within the confines of their own set? Some of them require special components, but you can always break out Debt tokens if you have no Empire cards, but an Event/Landmark that uses them.
Do you cater for variety, like ensuring a player token one is available, or that there's going to be a cheap and expensive one? Remove the meaningless ones, like Tomb if there's no way to Trash cards whatsoever?

IRL I like using 3, but no more than 2 of any one kind. More than that and analysis paralysis gets worse.

I think LFN said play testing did this some, and I thought it sounded good so I also use this method.

at the very most
1) 1 landmark
2) 1 event that will be used frequently
3) 1 event that will be used at most once per person.
having scouting party AND save just seems like asking the game to take forever.
i wish the "jack of all dominion" app would allow you to choose how many of each you want.

Up to two events, up to two landmarks, chosen totally at random and sourced from the same boxes as the kingdom cards

Question from a non-beginner, but certainly no where near an advanced player:
When referring to "kind", are you referring to event vs landmark or the nature of the card-shaped object?
If the latter, how do you categorize the different kinds?

However many Jack of All Dominion serves up. So, zero, one, or two.
Edit: FYI, "Randomly include up to 2" is just one of four possible settings in Jack of All Dominion. The others are:
- Never include
- Randomly include up to 3
- Always include 2 Events/Landmarks

Although it's extra work, you may want to do another randomizer app to tailor your Landmark and Event parameters

One of each, typically.
-
Usually 0, at most 2, and often using "use only if Empires is in" (I dislike and do not own Adventures). Though this sometimes leads to the landscapes being my 2 Empires cards (I generally require 2-3 cards from any set being used) which is not what I had in mind.
-
I use a max of four, with that four being any combination of landmarks and events. Could be none of either. Could be 2 and 2, could be 4 and 0, could be 3 and 0, could be 1 and 1, etc. I think three events/landmarks is the sweet spot, but I'm willing to go as high as four or as low as zero if my randomizer says so.

For Landmarks:
One-shot – Mountain Pass
Throughout, but limited duration – Arena, Basilica, Baths, Battlefield, Colonnade, Labyrinth; Aqueduct, Defiled Shrine
Throughout –Tomb
Only at end – Bandit Fort, Museum, Wall, Wolf Den; Triumphal Arch, Tower, Orchard, Obelisk
Treasure related at end - Fountain, Keep, Palace
For Events, I've got the following attributes for them...
Cost
+Buy
gain
VP
Trash (hand)
Trash (play)
draw
discard
limit
other $ restriction
