Post by: werothegreat on September 24, 2016, 02:34:16 pm
Shady Deal
(http://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/images/thumb/f/f7/Coin1.png/16px-Coin1.png) - Event

Once per turn: the next time you buy an Event this turn, its effects happen twice.
-----------------------------
Setup: Add an extra Event to the game.

Blessing
(http://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/images/thumb/c/cc/Coin10.png/16px-Coin10.png) - Event

Once per game: move your Doubling token to an Action Supply pile costing up to (http://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/images/thumb/2/2a/Coin4.png/16px-Coin4.png) (after you resolve a card from that pile, play it again).

Shady Deal should have +1 buy, methinks. Otherwise it's useless in games without +buy.

You are absolutely right.  For some reason I forgot that Events cost a buy...  :-[

I like Blessing, but Shady deal is either OP or does nothing with most events, especially OP with Dominate, Ball (you already have your -(http://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/images/thumb/f/f7/Coin1.png/16px-Coin1.png) token the 2nd time), Conquest, Alms, or Pilgrimage.

Dominate doesn't do anything different does it?

Blessing as worded is infinite. Probably just needs "if you played it from your hand" or something. Will make it less powerful with various combinations.

"Gain a province. If you do +9(http://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/images/thumb/9/92/VP.png/16px-VP.png)."
With Shady Deal that's two provinces and 18VP tokens.

It's unclear how Shady Deal works with a "Once per turn" clause. It's probably too powerful either way.

Haven't learned all the new names yet; I was thinking of the trash your deck as much as you want event.

These are all very good points.  I think it's okay that with Shady Deal once-per-turn effects can happen twice, like Save or Mission, but it might be a good idea to put a cost cap on it, maybe (http://wiki.dominionstrategy.com/images/thumb/7/7d/Coin5.png/16px-Coin5.png)?  And Blessing could be worded "...move your Doubling token to that pile (after a card from that pile is resolved other than by the Doubling token, play it again)."

Shady deal seems difficult to balance given the wide range of event costs.  What if it just said:

Once per turn: +1 Buy.  The next time you buy an event this turn, +1 Buy, +$1.

This allows you to buy an event multiple times, but the cost scales with the event.  It allows you to do other things too...
