First match of the season against Micha1980 in C2
Game 1: http://gokosalvager.com/static/logprettifier.html?http://dominion-game-logs.s3.amazonaws.com/game_logs/20160830/log.0.1472587789538.txt (http://gokosalvager.com/static/logprettifier.html?http://dominion-game-logs.s3.amazonaws.com/game_logs/20160830/log.0.1472587789538.txt)
A lucky 2-5 opening with Alms resulting in a Royal Carriage Bridge megaturn gives me an easy win to kick things off.
Game 2: http://gokosalvager.com/static/logprettifier.html?http://dominion-game-logs.s3.amazonaws.com/game_logs/20160830/log.0.1472588430332.txt (http://gokosalvager.com/static/logprettifier.html?http://dominion-game-logs.s3.amazonaws.com/game_logs/20160830/log.0.1472588430332.txt)
Mountebank with no trashing yuck. I lose the curses 6-4 but manage to win.
Game 3: http://gokosalvager.com/static/logprettifier.html?http://dominion-game-logs.s3.amazonaws.com/game_logs/20160830/log.0.1472589114955.txt
A Page game, I feel Cartographer is important here for the cycling.
Game 4: http://gokosalvager.com/static/logprettifier.html?http://dominion-game-logs.s3.amazonaws.com/game_logs/20160830/log.0.1472589763618.txt (http://gokosalvager.com/static/logprettifier.html?http://dominion-game-logs.s3.amazonaws.com/game_logs/20160830/log.0.1472589763618.txt)
No villages or trashing so looks like a Hunting Party stack. Did I make any mistakes here? I got 6 Hunting Parties but still lost; should I have bought some Spies or was I just unlucky to get so many curses from jester?
Game 5: http://gokosalvager.com/static/logprettifier.html?http://dominion-game-logs.s3.amazonaws.com/game_logs/20160830/log.0.1472590416169.txt (http://gokosalvager.com/static/logprettifier.html?http://dominion-game-logs.s3.amazonaws.com/game_logs/20160830/log.0.1472590416169.txt)
Colonies! I think Embargo means Alchemists aren't worth it, Procession should have played a bigger role especially after Wharf was embargoed.
Game 6: http://gokosalvager.com/static/logprettifier.html?http://dominion-game-logs.s3.amazonaws.com/game_logs/20160830/log.0.1472591080122.txt (http://gokosalvager.com/static/logprettifier.html?http://dominion-game-logs.s3.amazonaws.com/game_logs/20160830/log.0.1472591080122.txt)
Lots of potion cards but not much really going on. Apothecary Native Village is the only trashing, I feel like my strategy was better then my opponents and I got some bad early draws. Could I have done anything better?
-
Game 4, the HP split is not that important, because of storyteller. Storyteller excels at connecting such decks, where there are many bad cards and quite a few good ones. It looks like your early game play is very good, but you green a bit early. As the decks are thick, there is no guarantee you will hit 6 next turn, when you choose to buy a province. This check probably means that you get the gold first inst ead of province. Building a little longer seems necessary to me, 2 storytellers with an early gold would do well here. At the late game also bridge troll can help a bit, as it prepares next turn as well. The spies are not that super here. Such HP decks seem to be about adding coins up to 8 and this means that silver is also quite strong, so at the late game when your deck needs the spy the most, your money density is around 1 and from the 2 cards that you see with the spy you have about 50% chance of each to be useful. This gives again a value close to 2 for the spy, probably a little higher when the game goes longer, but their presence would not be decisive.
Game 6, from what i remember at least native village and apothecary are supposed to work together when you have a few apothecaries already, otherwise the NV are not that great. Your log, confirms this, as you do not really care to take the coppers out of the deck at the early game and it is not easy to line up NV apothecary in hand and estate in the next few cards early. In the meantime, a soothsayer really destroys apothecary and the NV's are taking you further from a sooth. You get your first very very late. I think your turn 3 apothecary should have been a soothsayer.

Qvist vs VS : In the last game your pages might have caused your misfortune. You were drawing them with hunting parties instead of better cards, like butchers, and they added nothing to the deck. If you look at your last turn again you can probably find a better play order for your action cards too.

Yeah, I noticed on the rewatch that I should have played HP first and then Page. I'm not sure if you meant that, but I'm pretty sure it was right to keep the Pages and not convert them into Treasure Hunters because the Silvers are so bad.

If you're not converting them then you don't need to buy them. It may even have been better to gain a copper when you butchered the shelter.

i'm excited for where rebuild lands in the new qvist rankings. i mean, compare those results to our witch one, and also forget everything you know about sample sizes &c, and rebuild seems pretty bad

I want to talk about these games. I'll provide some insight into what I was thinking tomorrow, and give some basic thoughts and retrospect.
-
Okay, I played some of those games. Maybe even all of them.
I only watched little segments. You can probably tell where.
Game 1: Magpie was kind of important. I lost a sort of essential split and had to garbage it up a bit further with a misclick. The strategy here is sort of obvious, and it happened better for Seprix than it did for me.
Game 2: Not going for the engine was stupid and I knew it but was lazy. For the (wrong) strategy I pursued my opening was correct; the only thing keeping it close was Seprix not going directly for the engine. The Island was most definitely wrong, but I was completely out of control of the game and so lost.
Game 3: So this one was kind of funny. You can tell it was funny because I won despite being clearly the worse player for this set of games. I went, "Hey, there is a 7 cost, a way to gain Gold, and Upgrade," sounds like something kind of fun to do. I just kind of went along until I got my deck to a point where I went, hey, I should be able to win on a Mission turn, and well, I did.
Game 4: Another funny one. Same reason. I was going to open double Amulet until I got handed this nice disposable silver which happened to give an extra action. Amulet-money is good, and uh, yes, definitely 3.
Game 5: Funny for a different reason. Kind of similar to game 3 in that I had no idea what I was doing, like normal with Procession. Doctor may have been a lot better than Forager. I think building up the Stables stack and some Squire/Bridge/Tactician before adding some Processiony goodness may have been better just because I really just wanted to use it as Throne Room - which is what I tried to hold back on into the end. I had no idea that I had dudded... I thought that that was just my deck, and if my deck was better than I thought, then it was probably the result of a really bad shuffle I caused without realizing it would matter.
Game 6: I kind of wanted a 3/4, and Treasure Trove was definitely better than Trading Post on the opening for what I ended up doing. I remain rather unconvinced by the Apothecary engine - one or two turns of extra pace would have done it for me and that is what I lost to the Trading Post. Even Market would have probably been better. I kind of saw the Tunnel thing late.
So I was kind of geared towards Money for this set which helped in that one game and probably killed me in that other one and maybe a third. I hope I am playing better soon. It may be a very long season otherwise.

Here's the not so Ironworks Cage Match with Polk
Not gonna say much about game 1 since everything went so horrible, but I'm pretty sure your second black market play over tact reduced your chances of getting one of the trashers since it was only like the 5th or so play. Also, when you revealed library-torturer-haunted woods, you HAVE TO buy Haunted Woods. It kills the midturn black markets completely, so opponent would have had to decide between playing tact and gaining something from bm every second turn. (assuming your opponent actually goes for double tact, which he should). Even if he doesn't it's still OP against black market.

Ah yes, I totally forgot about the Haunted Woods attack. And I agree about the BM vs Tact decision too, I did regret it immediately.

My second match in the A division vs. gamesou:
Congratulations on your first win in A!. Also, good call about skipping Page there, it looks absolutely right to me (I still would have bought it in autopilot). A little critique: You should have looked for a forced win on your triple province turn, you were only one buy or two coins short respectively.
Also, maybe the Haggler should have been a Merchant guild already. Not so sure. Also you could have haggled coppers over an excessive amount of cellars (lookout prevents them from getting out of hand)
Also, I liked the Ttroves in the previous game, altough the fourth seems dubious.
Game 5 obligatory City for $7 on a stonemason board derp ;) x2
edit: the turn you thought for 4minutes: the win is stonemasoning the two silvers into stonemasons, play HT and buy province /curse

I wanted to post about game 4 directly on the YouTube video comments but for some reason it wouldn't let me, giving some connection timed out error.
I think you definitely could have made some improvements in how you used gear here. Multiple times you played gear, had 4 coppers then bought a 3 cost. You could have been setting aside a copper for a better next turn. In addition you would set aside your estates despite lookout being certain to be in your next hand, giving you no opportunity to trash them because they are now in your hand.
Could this have helped you win? Against 3 provinces in a row early I'm not so sure, but at least it could have gone a bit better for you.

YouTube has been odd lately.
My play can always be improved. I was playing sloppy with Gear, not thinking about what I was going to buy before setting aside things. And yes, after I played that game, I wondered about the applications of setting Estates aside. I still think it was overall better because it was less cards to draw, but still, it was something to consider that I did not do.

My thoughts on the games, I couldn't seem to post on the videos either:
Game 1 (Grand Markets with Chapel/Rogue): We both had the same idea for the opening. I think ignoring Magpie was the right call, I didn't plan on having a lot of treasure, although I am wondering about my $17 hand, I'm kind of liking your idea of Travelling Fair -> GM Double Magpie or something. I think the key here was the Rogue though: I did end up winning the GM split, but the Rogue quickly reversed that. Early in the game I was wishing I had taken the turn to pick one up as well. I think I pulled ahead a bit in the beginning because I trashed more aggressively, but I definitely messed up the ending, I should've Double Duchied a couple of times I think.
Game 2 (Tunnel and Horse Traders, Rebuild vs. Embassy): I made my usual mistake where my eyes shift immediately to Rebuild and accidently ignore whatever else is on the board. I did see Horse Traders Tunnel, but I missed Embassy completely, and I think you were right in going that way. Seprix -> "He's mulling his options now, no doubt he noticed I didn't get the Rebuild, and he's thinking about that". Ya, he's thinking "oops, ya that was dumb. Stupid Rebuild".
Game 3 (Butchers and Taxman with Market Square and Colonies): I did like having the Taxman at the beginning, and later on (especially for the Plats). The Taxman allowed me early to get silvers which led to faster Butchers, and then I could Butcher the Silvers for more Butchers if I wanted, or Taxman them for Gold. It also looked like my Taxman discarded your Gold at least a couple times, which was a bit lucky on my part but I was hoping for it. I didn't care about Farming Villages because I figured I would just Save any collisions I had.
Game 4 (Mountebanks with Gear, Relic, Lookout): You made the point early in the game that "you make your own shuffle luck", in reference to my opening Gear Lookout and missing Mountebank Turns 3 and 4. As the game moved along though, my deck was thinner, and I played my Mountebanks more often. Some of this was luck true, hitting two Mountebanks on a turn with my fishing village in play etc., but I like the way I played this game, and I think it served me well as I started to green. I was lucky to hit 8 so often, but again, you make your own shuffle luck. I'd rather get an extra FV, an extra lookout early, an extra Gear, and an extra Relic or two instead of buying Golds and just hope they collide.
Game 5 (Scrying Pools with Expand): I actually didn't think about Apprenticing a Feodum, that's an interesting idea. I definitely was hitting better hands early, I was able to keep topdecking my new SP's. I wondered why you kept playing your Watchtower's instead of using them to topdeck your new cards, but watching the replay I see that early on you never really had your Watchtowers in hand with the money to buy something useful (usually just $4). The only thing I wonder about is the opening: did you consider using your Coin token at all to open 5/3 or 4/4? It seems like you may have overlooked and only considered 4/3 openings. This was a fun one to play though, some people don't like SP, I love it.
Game 6 (Grand Markets, Butchers, and Marauders): I made the wrong call early I think, butchering my Duplicate into a GM instead of saving it for 2 later. Your Duplicate helped you win the split, and I couldn't catch up. It helped you at the end too to drain the Duchies. Definitely should've kept it. I wanted to play with Knights in this game, with the Minstrels and GM's as trash targets, but with Sir Martin at the top I didn't want to buy it and potentially leave something better for you.
Anyways, fun games. I think that's our second 3-3 tie in League, although you've had the edge for sure in our random encounters.
