Re: The criticism of my game 3 opener in the youtube comments:
Firstly, I'm on a 4/3. Opening Expedition is only a 60% chance of hitting 5 on turn 2. Yeh, you can rebuy Expedition if you miss, but then all you have is a T3 Count, when Expedition guarantees Count on the reshuffle anyway.
Secondly, I want the economy. Count can get Duchies by itself, sure, but there's two more stacks of victory cards you can upgrade into Provinces, so just emptying the Duchies isn't enough vs somebody who can buy them. Then, once I have the actions in my deck, the events are better buys than Silvers, so the only real time to get them is the opener.
My game 2 opener was pretty bad, though. Perhaps I would have been better off skipping Amulet? HPs can skip the junk, and the combination with Scavenger seems like it would get you to Teacher very quickly.
Game 6 ended up not having any Ruined Villages, did it? Man, the one time it's the best Ruin on the board and it's not even there.

Watched Game 1. My thoughts:
Oasis/Oasis open for more +A actions, needed for Golem plan
Played terminal Torturer with an Oasis and a Copper in hand. Play the Oasis first!
Considered triple Pawn one turn. Do it! Again need +A actions
Stonemason for Golem is fine. For anything else, you are just sticking terminals in your deck to disrupt the Golem plan
Play your +Action actions before Golem! One time three Pawns that could all be +1A/+$1 weren't played
Took Curses too often because "I can just trash this" but rarely did. Don't want to waste that terminal slot on Stonemason when you will have Bridges and Torturers to play

Game 1 - 0:00:00.
Young Witch/Money. I play awfully, making some terrible decisions and a few misclicks. I also fail to get 6 early on, lots of useless 5s. That's made worse by my dumb decision to get a Province on my first 8 rather than a Gold. I get stomped. It's my first game in quite some time, and you can tell.

Fortress/Rabble engine with Swindlers and Training to spice things up. I lose this one, though it's semi-close. Probably closer than it should have been given my awful early chapel luck.

Colony game, main components are Swamp Hag, Caravan, Bishop and Storyteller. My first victory of the match, I think aided mostly by my early 5s and Jean-Michel's (perhaps slightly reckless? Hard to say) curse gaining from Swap Hag.

Game 6 - 1:25:16.
Shelters, Minions, Farming Villages, Crossroads, Woodcutter. I do many many idiotic things this game including wasting 2 or 3 turns with a Pillage play which contributes nothing. In spite of all that I nearly take the victory to level the match, but hit 6 instead of 8 when trying to buy the winning Province. This feels like the one that got away. I played abysmally.

Haddock match:
Got to do Watchtower/Rats in Game 1. Then you can build the engine, which should be able to beat up money just from using the attacks more. Not to mention you can actually get rid of Curses.
Game 2, probably you realized this now, but when you had triple Swindler/Rabble/Chapel collision early, playing Rabble was the worst of the 3, I like Chapeling 2 cards there. The next time you draw Chapel, you trash just 1 Copper and buy 1 Fortress, I'd rather see you take the last two Fortresses with Ball, but I'm not so sure. I don't like when you Swindle his Embassy into Tribute, why not give him a Duke? And trashing 1 Copper instead of buying Training seems wrong. Several times you play a Rabble before playing Swindlers, you should play Swindlers first because otherwise the two attacks cancel each other out in a way. You talk about being behind because of bad Chapel draws (and they were bad), but in the middle of the game it seemed to me you were quite a bit ahead, with more Fortresses and more of the attacks.

Several times you play a Rabble before playing Swindlers, you should play Swindlers first because otherwise the two attacks cancel each other out in a way.
I even mention this in my video. I realised I was doing it but couldn't stop myself. My focus levels were really poor. Later it was a positive to do it - I did it intentionally to avoid swindling his fortresses.

yeah I thought I had a shot in the mid game. He ended up just that one turn ahead.
I do agree that the fortress rabble game was the one that looked closest to a victory, of the ones I lost. The minion game was close too but shouldn't have been with all my mistakes.

You drew 2 Fortresses (it was the last 3 cards so it was in theory "known"), all the Rabble did was cycle 1 Copper and let you buy Vagrant. Seems worse to me than removing 2 junk forever.

I mean, I thought this game would be an easy win for you even after the early draws, but I admit I wasn't tracking the opponent's deck all that well, so I could be overestimating. I guess I just wanted to say, don't tell yourself you're lost too quickly because then you'll play like it.

Your last point Mic, I couldn't agree more.
I was tired and hence more prone to tilting than I usually am. I definitely gave up easier than I usually would.
After he opened 5/2 I guess I just had it in my head that he was going to be miles ahead. And then yeah I played like it.
My play in general was not up to my usual standards. Hopefully the rest of my matches this season I'll play better.

Well you bought Rabble + trashed a Copper, so it wasn't that bad, it just seemed like Training time to me.
On rewatching I remember that I had just temporarily forgotten Training. I was considering what 6s there were and only saw Gold which I knew I didn't want.

I had done this for my match today, but sadly my microphone failed and the video is completely soundless. I can't imagine anyone wanting to watch such a video. :(

Game 1, 0:00:00. Weird engine game with King's Courts, Stonemasons, Envoys, Knights + Haggler. I inherit Envoys. Still not sure if that's a mistake. I thin down quicker but get slowed when his Knights shred my deck. Still struggle through to victory.

Game 2, 0:36:00. Ambassador, Market, Counterfeit, Transmogrify. We split the Markets evenly but I fall behind in the Ambassador wars and never catch up. He does clever things with Transmogrify that I miss.

Game 4, 1:21:30. Magpie, Forager, Goons, Hunting Grounds, Festival, Alms. I screw up with Alms once or twice. The deciding factor is Goons really though. I get Goons first but it misses a shuffle and he gets trashed down fast enough. Meanwhile his Goons screw over my Foraging and I never thin down. He gets Festival/Hunting Grounds in his opening hand 6-8 times in the game. I get it once.

Game 5, 1:38:15. Fool's Gold, Fishing Village, Ranger, Rabble. My Fishing Villages collide with my Rangers spectacularly infrequently. I complain at some point about hitting 7 on a game-deciding turn for the 3rd time in the season. Looking back, 8 wouldn't have been enough for the win anyway.

Game 1, 0:02:00. Highway, Prince, Hunting Party, with Nomad Camp as +Buy. I fail to get Inheritance, he Inherits Hunting Party which turns out to be better than not.
Game 2, 0:23:00. University, Familiar, Junk Dealer, Throne Room, Library. I never ever seem to hit 5. This makes me super mad and then I lose.
Game 3, 0:36:00. Journeyman, Lost Arts, University, Throne Room, Trade Route. I open 5/2 and Borrow to Lost Arts Journeyman straight away. This turns out to be drastically inferior to having a 4/3 opening and getting Universities.
Game 4, 0:52:00. Altar, Market Square, Giant. We both open Silver/Silver, but my first few hands are 4/4/6/4 and his are 5/6/8/4. It's all downhill from there. Getting Altar was probably a mistake from me.
Game 5, 1:06:10. King's Court, Witch, Steward, Ambassador, Militia. I get a ludicrous amount of weird and bad collision, and he opens with a Witch, but something (better Ambassadoring? Luckier KCs?) comes right for me and I wrangle the first win of the match.
Game 6, 1:17:00. Baker/Tournament/Fairgrounds/Plan. My Tournament draws go better than his, end of story (I think Planning Tournaments is better than Bakers here). I still manage to nearly throw it away.

Here I thought I could put together some sort of engine with the magical power of Teacher, but it didn't work out at all. Putting tokens on Caravan Guard kind of sucks. gkrieg went Butcher-BM, taking a nice lead and putting himself in a position to mill Provinces for the win.

Provinces / Estates - Advisor, Candlestick Maker, Catacombs, Duke, Graverobber, Mountebank, Rebuild, Royal Carriage, Storyteller, Thief
Rebuild and Mountebank dominate this board. Graverobber could also be good but neither of us went for it. I think that after losing the Duchy split, I should have gone for Golds to buy Provinces instead of Royal Carriage to spam Mountebank and Rebuild. Spamming Rebuild reduced the VP pool and ended the game more quickly, denying me a chance to catch up.

Colonies / Estates - Artificer, Bishop, Dungeon, Expedition, Forge, Hoard, Mint, Mystic, Secret Chamber, Thief, Trading Post
gkrieg had 5/2 and opened with a Trading Post into Big Money, with support from Hoard and Mint. But I saw that there were shenanigans to be done. Expedition and Dungeon were great enablers for Forge, enabling me to spike $7 to buy the Forge, and then allowing me to easily line up the cards I wanted to Forge away. A Mint buy ate 5 coppers, and Forge turned my starting Estates and a Silver into Platinum. Minted Platinum and bought Artificer to hit $11, and it was Colony every turn after that.

Strong Goons engine. I lucked into a 5/2 open for Count/Hamlet. Stonemasoning Peddlers to get stuff is good. The game ended up close and I easily could have lost.

Provinces / Estates - Alchemist, Baker, Band of Misfits, Conspirator, Embargo, Giant, Hermit, Inheritance, Lookout, Plan, Ranger, Silk Road
Tricky board which both players had trouble playing optimally. The goal is to trash down quickly, get some Bakers and Alchemists, and hit $7 to Inherit Conspirator. At that point, get a single BOM if you don't have one already, and use it first as Hermit to gain Estates, then once Estates are gone, use it as Ranger for +Buy in the endgame. I had written off Ranger as useless early on as it's pretty much just Ruined Market on this board, so I didn't realize Province+Duchy would be possible (and thus that my 8-point lead was unsafe). Turns out Ruined Market is just what you want at the end of this game. Again, this game could have gone either way due to shuffle luck. I could see Hermit/BOM, Hermit/Baker, or Lookout/BOM as openings.

Provinces / Estates - Coppersmith, Embassy, Ferry, Ghost Ship, Plaza, Quarry, Storyteller, Torturer, Trade, Transmogrify, Treasury, Walled Village
Torturer board with Ferry and 2 different villages to get. Torturers and Curses ran out, and with one Plaza left, the endgame turned tactical as the first player to fail to take the lead on his turn would lose. I like the first Trade I bought, but the second should have been Duchy.
Result: gkrieg wins 23-21
Match result: 3-3 tie
