Title: Let's Discuss Prosperity Cards: Bank

So, Prosperity. It's my favourite expansion, with lots of big and shiny cards. Here's a nice, big, shiny one to kick off with.

Which types of decks do you want this in?
How good is it at passing the Gold test?
What's the greatest amount of +Coin you have ever got from a Bank?

Banks work well with other Banks.

Engines like this over the first and second gold.
Better when you're opponent is doing governor and you go gov into province. With terminal draw bm it is better than gold when you don't have curses, have thinned your Estates and you can draw treasures.
Greatest coin with bank: 42

it has a negligible effect in bm games—there isn't a time where it is worse than gold for buying provinces but it is occasionally worse at getting duchies. this generally holds for any time without buys.

bank is pretty bad. i don't think there has been a time where i went for bank where i had to think a lot beforehand; if there is good draw, buys, and you don't have good means to trash treasures then there you go. it's harder when it competes with something like merchant guilds, that's where you weigh exactly how good the draw and actions are. i think merchant guilds beat bank on equivalent draw and actions, although that depends on whether there's a cheap thing to buy a bunch of

one time, opponent and i were going for some good stuff deck with remake and she bought a few banks, and i was like whaaat why would you do that, and then she remade them into provinces, waaah

It's simpler than that. Bank is only ever better than Gold in BM if you're likely to draw hands of 4 Coppers and 1 Bank or 2 Coppers, 1 Silver, 1 Bank.

I have not yet tried it but Bank may interact nicely with Storyteller. This may even be viable on boards with lack of +Buy options.

I confirm this is good.

I third this. I played it in a game without +Buy and I got -2 Estates, 2 Storytellers, a few treasures and one Bank by turn 8, Colonies on 9, 10, 11, 13.

I'm pretty sure I severely misplayed turn 3 and 11. (I ferried Storytellers, should have been a Silver, and I shuffled when it was very bad for me), so I suspect it can go much faster.

Edit: rereading the log, I suspect this was the game where I bought Ferry thinking it would work on alt-Treasure.

Storyteller / Bank's synergy is unbelievable. Or rather, it's really believable and it's really good.

Otherwise, I really wish Bank came with the extra buy it so desperately wants.
