So, there's this user whose name i'm not going to say, who sent me quite a few PMs in which he insults me. What do i do? I assume theory has better things to do, and probably it's petty, but on the other hand i can imagine him doing it to more people than just me and would like to let those people know they are not the only ones.
Also yes, i'm still here. What's with that?

Why not, though? What if you forget to log out of f.ds and someone else uses your computer and sees those messages? What if someone cracks your f.ds password? Stuff like that can be beyond your control, and it is certainly way beyond the control of whoever sent you those PMs. People should realize that whenever you write stuff on the Internet, no matter how private you might or might not want it to be, you implicitly accept the possibility of everyone in the world seeing it. Even for that person, this is a much better opportunity to learn that lesson than, say, when he needs to send highly confidential data containing military secrets and all that good stuff over the Internet.
For the record, I haven't been receiving any insulting PMs from anyone.

You don't need to try to "work it out" with someone sending you unsolicited hate mail.

The rule of thumb on most forums is that if you're not sure, report it. It lets the mod/admin know something's up, and they can decide if it's something they want on their forum or not, and it means the things don't have a chance to escalate too much.

That sucks though. Pretty much all I see you doing is giving constructive criticism to fan cards and mocking up dozens, probably hundreds of cards that aren't yours. You send like a really odd person to send hate mail to.

That's actually part of the reason, if you can belive it.
Fun fact: 181 Fan cards to be almost exact.
Edit: It's a bit suggestive, do modded cards count? If I have 2 versions with different art is that 1 card?
Edit2: I should do 19 more tommorrow to round it out.

Apparently I'm not the only one who got unfriendly mails by that person who - as it seems - still didn't learn how to follow simplest rules of etiquette. It's a shame he would be allowed to continue doing this. Also, as I'm posting already, I read all of your nice posts on me saying goodbye. Thank you. I'm still not intending to return (apparently "delete my account" doesn't actually do that), just wanted to let you know it's the same guy. ThetaSigma12, feel free to reveal his identity, it's just me personally who wants to draw a line here. It's just not worth it anymore for me. Bye.

If it's tristan, let me know. He's already temp banned from the forum for a second time so he shouldn't be sending such PMs any longer.
Also, I only received complaints about his PMs from one person. If you have additional PMs, report them to me. tristan seems to want to escalate himself to a permaban anyway.

Just to make this clear, this wasn't intended as a critizism on the admins' work. I shied away from confrontation and that was part of why he wasn't held responsible I guess. It just made me sad to find out he kept doing this even after I left. Thanks for fds, theory, it was a great time.

I found in the past phrases that linked Horatio83 and ErrinF, and phrases that linked Tristan and Horatio83. I never looked for a direct link between Tristan and ErrinF but that's where deductive reasoning comes in. I don't particularly want to do the research again.

As I said, Steward and Amulet are of roughly equivalent strength so arguments that Steward is better in each and every situation are more than just a a tad ridiculous.

I thought you were being a tad nonchalant about some things (trashing, preventing attacks), but I get that you were from a Big Picture perspective about Dominion that I don't quite have.

Well, clearly his IP is changing because he's able to post even though he had his IP banned. It could be a dynamic IP though, in which case it might be possible to identify them as the same person with relatively high certainty, or it could be a proxy in which case it might be possible to identify both of them as people who use proxies, or not at all. But it's definitely not worth the effort to actually check, it's just fun to speculate.

Humans often see patterns because they expect to see them. It's a well-know failing of the human brain. Why it wasn't so long ago that I falsely accused the horatio83 on these forums as being the same horatio83 that played on Goko, and my wasn't that embarrassing for me.
Anyway, I like Asper, but I'm getting pretty sick of him coming back on here to complain about this whilst also not doing anything constructive about it. Man, it is OK to tell a forum moderator which specific individual is harassing you! We'll never know if it's the same person unless you do, and your reluctance to do so is potentially allowing this person to continue this behavior. Am I victim-blaming? Maybe. But I'm still getting pretty tired of it.

Actually, no, you don't!
To really get a feel for it, you need to go through and carefully read the accounts: ErrinF, ErrinFU, Horatio83, Tristan. I believe there were a few other smaller ones as well. They have a distinctive writing style and distinctive argument patterns and distinctive shared interests (fan cards and getting in arguments).
Your writing style is nothing like it and it is easy to tell the two apart. If you want to know how heavy the use of ellipses is, go look for yourself. It is actually quite extreme.

So what you're saying is that this person--who is known for telling lies and avoiding responsibility in order to make other people look foolish--told you: "That Horatio83 and myself are two completely different people," and you believed him? and now I'm the foolish one?
Look, I'm not saying I am 100% correct here. But honestly the biggest behavioral patterns are the ones that are most awkward to talk about because they are the one that boil down to "turns into a troll when people say his fan cards are bad." That's the one major thing that all of these accounts have in common.
Anyway, Awaclus has it right, it's not worth putting more effort into proving, it's just something interesting to speculate about, and there's nothing else on here particularly interesting to me right now.

I already confirmed it's tristan in this thread (at least I felt it was obvious from my writing), and what's more important, I told the mods from the start. What the mods know isn't what you know. I just didn't post it publicly.
Theory asked me whether he should speak with tristan back then and I made this thread in case anybody else had the problem, to help me decide, but back then nobody else seemed to be affected, and I felt "It's over now, just draw a line.".
I posted again because other members were also getting harrassed and I received PM's asking whether I also had trouble with tristan, which I confirmed. Tristan has a way of being a terrible person while saying things that make you feel overly-alarmed for reporting. I reported him nonetheless, told mods his name, made a thread to encourage others to report too. I just didn't ask theory to speak with tristan, and that's where I see myself at fault. It probably just would have escalated to a ban, which would have been a good thing, but I didn't want to go through that back then.
